That would be too cute! I am working with Trausti on desensitization to huge flapping flags. I will get a pic this weekend. Traustis flag is giant red and white stars and bars with a seal in the middle that looks official only it says The South Shall RIse Again. which I thought was a nice politically correct flag for him to practice with. ANd besides it was all they had at the gun show my husband made me go to last saturday. He doesnt seem to mind it flapping but I havent tried it from horse back yet. He is a little offended by it tho. It offends his basic John Denver personality extreme liberal sensibilities. Trausti is upset that someone on Fox tv said the california fires are happening because they legalized same sex marriage. He isnt gay at all, but feels if someone has to be, its their business and americans should stay out of citizens bedrooms. He wishes I had a GreenPeace flag for him. I am working with Trausti on desensitization to huge flapping flags. There is a group of 6 or 8 local ladies who get together once a week to work with a very patient and good-natured cowboy type riding instructor to do drill team. It's been really good for my friend Gayle in terms of general horsemanship. One of the things they are working on is riding with large flapping flags. Another gal, Donna who is probably 60 ish and not a small woman at all rides a nice big Paso Fino gelding. She lost control of the flag, which whirled around and started whacking Trigger in the butt, making him spin in place. The instructor kept saying Drop the flag. Drop the flag, but Donna was afraid that would make matters worse. I guess it was quite a show. Nancy
Re: [IceHorses] Pony Holding Flag
horses haave to get used the flag popping and whipping around in the air when you are in the saddle and also seeing it comin toward them and from up behind them. dropping it is the only way out but very scarey cause on the way down usually flips them out entirely if they are upset anyway. I have huge silk american flags hanging over all my water troughs. another thimg that seems to bother them is throwing a long rope with a sack of aluminum cans tied to the end and then dragging it back up into the saddle with you. most want to spin or run bacwards. our posse practices stuff like this in a fluffy sandy arena. janice
