Re: [JAWS-Users] Accessabillity of Online Music Services

2007-09-09 Thread Michael A. Tisdale
Hi Shannon,

Are you saying that the download manager is JAWS friendly as well as the
website? I usually don't have sighted help when I am trying to download or
burn CDs so it would have to be completely accessible. Is this your
experience with the service?

Hi Michael,

About 2 weeks ago I joined a music service called eMusic. I have spent some
time researching music services and finally chose this one for the following

reasons:

- it has over 2 million songs from 13000 labels in the MP3 format

- you get 25 free downloads during the 2 week trial period that are yours
to keep regardless what you decide to do after the trial

- how's $.33 a song sound? You heard me. And depending on what program
you subscribe to it can be less. Check out the following:

1. $9.99 for 30 songs for about $.33 a song

2. $14.99 for 60 songs for about $.30 a song

3. $19.99 for 75 songs for about $.27 a song

You download a " download manager." I use Windows Media Player 11 to
play, burn CD's, and sync to a Creative Zen M. So far so go. I've included
a link below for you to visit and get the details. It is Jaws compatible.
Good luck. Let me know if I can be of any further help.

Hello everyone,

Re: [JAWS-Users] Finding out column width in excel

2007-09-09 Thread Ann Byrne
With the cursor in the column you want to know about, press
insert-f1-f1. That is, hold down insert---the Jawskey--and press f1
twice quickly. You will hear a ton of information in a virtual
window, and the width of the cell will be a part of it. Press escape
to escape the virtual window and return to your text.

[JAWS-Users] Finding out column width in excel

2007-09-09 Thread Annette Carr
I am using Office 2003 and Jaws 7x and 8x.  I need to find out the column
width and would like to do it in a faster way then going up to the menu bar,
opening
the column width dialog box and tabbing to that edit box.  Is there a JAWS
command for announcing this information?  I've tried Insert+Tab+Tab and
Insert+F
and I'm not obtaining the info I need.
Thanks,

Hello and welcome to the list. Please in the future try and clean up the

not sure, but GMail uses it's own SMTP server if that helps at all.

Hi.

I've just set up a googlemail account because I'd like to be able to send
e-mails when I'm away from home. I use Tiscali at the moment and I have a
Tiscali SMTP outgoing server. Is it possible to send e-mails through
googlemail when I'm somewhere which doesn't have an outgoing SMTP server of
Tiscali? I hope this makes sense to someone but if not, you can always
Skype or text me and I'll try and explain it to you. I'm basically just
wondering which SMTP server googlemail uses to send e-mails.

Thanks for any help you can give on this.

Sue.

Hello and welcome to the list. Please in the future try and clean up the
message headers before posting to the list. So far as google mail goes I'm
not sure, but GMail uses it's own SMTP server if that helps at all.

Hi
I have been buying the music from Wall Mart for some time now and have
never had to re-buy any songs. I do not have any blank cd's to burn to so I
can't burn music but I did sink the music to my cell phone successfully.

God bless,

I heard that you have to repurchase the songs after a period of time through
the Wal-Mart site because the license you get is for a limited time. Have
you been able to burn to CD from the downloaded files? Have you had that

Hello everyone,

I am looking into different online music services such as Napster,
Rhapsody, and if nothing else iTunes. I was just wondering, which, if
any, of the online music services have the best user interface when using
JAWS 8.0? I know there are scripts for iTunes but I rather dislike having
to pay for the scripts unless the program is the best out there. I'm not
trying to download the music for an iPod, simply just to have on my
computer and burn onto CDs.

Thanks,
Michael

Re: [JAWS-Users] Flash movies on web pages

2007-09-09 Thread Denny Huff
That happens to all of us Lisa. It depends on how the web page is written
and tagged.
Not much you can do about it except to write the web master of the web page
and ask them to make their page 508 compliant.

Hi Denny,
I am using jaws version 6. Thanks for explaining that to me. Sometimes
when I am in forms moad jaws doesn't read the title of the box. Such as
name, phone number etc. This doesn't happen often, but it does happen. In
that case I have to go in and out of forms mode, and that is very annoying.
Do you know of any way that can be fixed, or is it just something that I
just have to deal with? Thanks again!
Take care,
Lisa

Re: [JAWS-Users] Flash movies on web pages

2007-09-09 Thread Joseph Lee
Hi Lisa,
This setting tells JAWS to look for forms using what's called
HTML tags--a way of describing HTML elements. There are tags for
Forms as well (I don't recalb what they were, but I'll search on
the Internet for it).
The reason to press CTRL plus Shift flus d is to open Default
Config file (default.jcf). If you need to make changes globally,
use Default file, as it overwrites application-specific config
file.
Cheers,
Joseph

Re: [JAWS-Users] Flash movies on web pages

2007-09-09 Thread Denny Huff
Lisa,
What version of Jaws are you using? I don't see that option in Jaws 8.
When you go into forms mode, Jaws goes out of the virtual cursor and back to
the normal PC cursor which allows you to edit the form field.
I would leave that unchecked.
As for the control shift D, this loads the default configuration manager and
any changes you make affects all applications, not just the configuration of
the application you are in. In this case, it probably wouldn't hurt
anything to turn off the flash player in the default., although if you do,
it will turn it off in any application that might use it.

Hi Denny,
I was in the misc tab, and I found a box that says use virtual labels in
forms moad and the check box was not checked. what does this mean, and what
changes would be made if I check this box? Also after I hit incert 6 for
the configuration manager I was told to hit control shift d. I noticed your
directions didn't say to do that, so what difference would hitting control
shift d make? I have jaws 6, and I'm running windows XP home. Thanks for
your help!
Take care,
Lisa

Hi Dave,

One reason may be the inclusion in Tech tidbits for Thursday, September 6,
2007.

The computing list was named as well.
