[JAWS-Users] NOTES FOR OUTLOOK 2010 USERS, JUNK FOLDER OPTIONS
Hello group, I was having an awful time with messages from certain senders ending up in my Junk folder. I asked for help here but no one seemed to know the answer. I did receive a hint from another technology list and I thought it might be good to share it here. Outlook 2010 has a very capable Junk folder options list. Unlike earlier versions of this e-mail client, the Junk submenu provides ways to avoid having certain messages, diverted by the Spam filter, from ending up in the Junk folder in error. The Junk menu contains several options for adding people or domains to a Safe Senders list. That can be done manually if you have the correct e-mail or web address or it can be done automatically. 1.While in the Junk folder, press the Applications key or Shift F10. Locate the Junk submenu and press the right arrow to access it. 2. Press the down arrow and review the options which include never blocking sender, never blocking a domain and so on. 3. The original message will still remain in the folder unless it is deleted. Those options apply to any subsequent messages sent by a particular sender or domain. 4. Press Enter on the option that applies best to that particular message. The software will respond either with a message indicating that the sender or domain has been added to your Safe Senders list or requesting that the e-mail identity or domain be added manually. 5. In either case, an Okay button is provided. Press Enter to confirm the action. 6. If there are several messages from an e-mail list such as Jaws-Users and you want to move them to the appropriate folder, eliminate all of the other messages, then highlight all of those from that e-mail list. 7. Press the Applications key or Shift F10 and choose the Move option. A list of folders will be offered and you can move all of those messages into that folder at the same time. Now that I know how to do this, it seems so simple. But the key is knowing that such an option exists. I hope that this information helps someone else with a similar problem. Re: [JAWS-Users] Google Chrome,
I have a question about Google Chrome. How does it compare to Internet Explorer? I realize that this is a matter of opinion but some of the features on Chrome are very interesting including the one which allows the user to speak his or her search terms. Has anyone been able to make this work with Jaws? If so, what settings have to be changed? It certainly won't work right out of the box as far as I'm able to determine. But then, maybe I'm missing something. Any help would be welcome. Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws 15 and vertual ribbon menu
Hi Marilyn, Unfortunately you won't be able to eliminate the ribbons but, the ribbons are only used in Office, Outlook, Windows Live Mail that I'm aware of. If ribbons are used in other programs others will have to tell us what they are. Below are steps for putting your email IE shortcuts into the start menu when using Classic Shell if,you have your email IE shortcuts on the desktop. If your email IE shortcuts arre not on the desktop let us know we'll have to give different steps. 1. Go to your desktop with, Windows key + M, highlight / select the shortcut you want to work with 2. Press your applications key or shift + F10 to open the context menu. 3. Arrow down to, Send To, press enter. 4. Arrow down to, Start Menu, press enter. Pressing enter right here will put a copy of the desktop shortcut in the start menu. HTH Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] windows update
Windows updates come as important and optional. The important ones are divided between security and program updates. I have selected to view each update before I download them, as I don't want Microsoft's Bing Desktop or other stuff they send in optional updates. My process is surely more time-consuming but I feel better informed (for example I needed a prerequisite security update to get the most recent serious bug fix for IE10) If I had automatic updates, I would not have received the vital update because the box which selects the update was unchecked (because I did not have the prerequisite one). The latest security update for IE10 was issued Thursday, May 1, so you can probably toss out the specific schedule idea. check your setting on window update if you have setting. I tried to get to one of my bookmarks this morning and noticed that the key combination to get to the Bookmarks menu suddenly didn't do anything. I was able to use it without any problems earlier this week before the Jaws update. Could Firefox or something in this update have caused some change so that Jaws doesn't recognize this keystroke? I have Windows 7 and Jaws 15.0.9023. Does anyone know of any workarounds I could try? Thanks. Nicholas For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
