[JAWS-Users] Website Unwanted Tables
Using Win. 7, IE11 and JAWS 16. This happens when at a website and I need to copy and paste information. When I paste it into a Word docx, there is a table format instead of just being a list like in the past. When I select anything in that table to delete it, it will not just delete one line or something, but the entire table is deleted and all information in that table. I want to stop everything from appearing like tables since I cannot work with this type of information in this format. In the past, my programs were never configured to let this happen, but after a hard-drive replacement, many settings are wrong. Where can I go and how can I change this setting? Thank you. Hi Liuda, While in Internet Explorer, do the following: 1. press the Jaws key + V, to open the Jaws quick-settings dialogue. When this opens, you will be in an edit field. 2. Tab once, and then press the letter V. This will take you to the virtual cursor options. 3. down arrow once, and then press the spacebar until you hear Jaws say, select and copy from the virtual cursor. 4. Tab to the okay button, and spacebar it. You are done. Re: [JAWS-Users] Website Unwanted Tables
Here is a case by case fix, hopefully someone else on the list knows how to make changes in your settings to resolve the problem. Use Control+z to remove the unwanted table. You might have to use the command multiple times before it is all gone. Yes, it is odd how one paste command has to be resolved with multiple Undo commands. Open up the Home tab on your Ribbon. Open the Paste menu. Arrow to Paste Special and press enter. Arrow to unformatted Unicode text and press enter. [JAWS-Users] Documents Unavailable
Hi List, I have a colleague using windows 7 and jaws 15. Recently, whenever he navigates to the documents library, jaws says documents unavailable any jaws read commands says blank, but say title says Documents; indicating that documents is in focus . If we switch to the jaws cursor, we can hear the titles of some of his files, but we can't use the mouse buttons. Any suggestions on what could possibly be wrong and how we could fix it? Re: [JAWS-Users] Documents Unavailable
Hello Kerry, You might want to check to see if preview handlers are being used. 1. Go into the documents or My Documents folder. 2. Press Alt+T for tools and then press the letter O to go into folder options. 3. Use CTRL+Tab until you get the View page of the dialog box. 4. Tab into the tree view of items. 5. Press the letter S until you hear show preview handlers in preview pane. If it says it is on then press spacebar to turn it off. 6. If the selection was already off then just escape out of the dialog box. If it was on and you changed it to off then tab to the apply button and use spacebar. Use the OK button to exit the dialog box. When back in the list of documents use tab key until you find the command module. Use right or left arrow key across it and find out if the preview pane is checked. If it is checked then use spacebar to remove the checkmark. Exit the folder and then open it again to see if this corrects the focus problem. Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] Website Unwanted Tables
Hi LeDon, Here is the explanation of this particular setting: This option controls whether or not JAWS will use the Text Selection and Copy Commands from the Web browser, e-mail software, or other owner of a virtual document. With the From Virtual Cursor setting, text is copied as plain text without formatting, pictures, and HTML attributes. With the Full Content Using Onscreen Highlight setting, the text and elements you select are highlighted onscreen as you press selection keys from the keyboard just as it would be in programs like Word Processors. The content is then copied with all formatting. The default setting is Full Content Using Onscreen Highlight. When you are in the settings center, or quick settings dialogue, and you tab once, you will hear an explanation of the setting in focus, and as I did, you can select the text and copy it to the clipboard. I am using J16 first non-beta release and it converts it as expected. The only difference is I used lower-case letters and had a space between the number value and eur for Euros. - Original Message - From: Mike B. Here's what I'm doing: 1. Open Research It. 2. Enter, 90EUR USD. 3. Tabbing to the list pressing enter on convert currency. I keep getting the list of currency abbreviations. I'm running J13 XP Pro. Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS And Skype
hey Stephen, I am willing to help you off list. I sent you a separate email. I have not used it for some time now and just installed it on my laptop. It looks like it tried to bundle itself with Windows Live and I have tried several different ways to log in but it is having none of it. Appreciate that the logon issue is not for the JAWS list but if there are accessability considerations, I will just uninstall it from my machine. If anyone is prepared to try to help me off list, I would be very grateful at: steven.hi...@nhs.net Take care all. This message may contain confidential information. [JAWS-Users] External Jaws?
Hi List, Every so often, instead of my regular Jaws window, to which I can tab, for some unknown reason will change to saying, “External Jaws”. Do any of you know what this means and is there any other way to get back to normal other than shutting down? I don’t remember this happening before Jaws 15, which I am using on Windows 7. Many thanks for any explanations! Vicky For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
Re: [JAWS-Users] External Jaws?

Re: [JAWS-Users] IE9 Up Speaking Too Much Crap
Some folks like specific items spoken on a webpage. Therefore, while it might be a good idea to suggest try turning on/off certain settings, casting them in such a negative tone in myopinion to me isn't very productive or informative. Just my thought on the subject. Re: [JAWS-Users] IE9 Up Speaking Too Much Crap
Mike: Are you talking aboot the thread with all of the HTML tags being spoken a few days back? If so, I remember encountering that months back, but also made some changes and if memory serves they were similar to yours. However, it's just jaws 15 and windows 8.1 and ie 11 here.
