Re: [Mac-access]: Compatible Mac Keyboards

2015-04-09 Thread Caitlyn Furness
speaking of this, I am looking for an ergonomic keyboard which is compatible
with the mac.

I’ve tried the microsoft wave one and the intellitype one, which are supposed
to be mac compatible. Both were recognized as a laptop keyboard, even though
they both have the num pad attached. I really want the full set of keys on the
right side of my spacebar so I don’t have to do hand gymnastics for some
commands!!

thanks,
Cait

Re: [Mac-access]: how do you delete "klotfp-87-= empty table"

2014-12-17 Thread Caitlyn Furness
I just want to shed some light on this problem…

I tried to help Mark get rid of this kloftp thing and didn’t have any luck.

It appears in the table of messages, but doesn’t appear to be an actual
message. It looks more like a conversation topic or the like as when you open
it with right arrow, a message does appear.

Barring getting rid of the thing, is there a way to block a particular sender?

thanks for the help!

Re: clickable text

2013-11-25 Thread Caitlyn furness
Try vo spacing on the clickable text, then use your arrow keys for the drop
down menu.

You might have to use vo down arrow, it seems to vary.

when you get to the one you want, just vo space on your selection and then you
can either tab or vo right arrow to the next thing.

refresh memory about installing lion

2012-04-12 Thread Caitlyn Furness
Hi,

Ok, I think I might need to reinstall lion here, but can't remember exactly the
steps on how to do it.

My keyboard doesn't seem to be sending the correct characters to the mac. For
instance, when I try and rename a file, it says "apple, in between each
character I'm typing, but it does type the correct character. It's taking an
extraordinarily long time to boot and sometimes I have to hit the space bar to
get it to finish booting, but not always. I also can't seem to get some videos
to work on the 'net, although others work fine, and these same videos work fine
on Mark's I Mac.

I've spent a couple of hours with apple support today, and the only thing
they've done so far is try and select the correct language for my keyboard
which didn't fix the weird apple problem. The tech guy did a remote session
and he didn't see any menus pop up while voice over was saying "apple". Things
didn't seem to be tracking properly, either, "British" was selected in the
language menu table while Canadaian was highlighted, for example. My cursor
tracking is on right now and I have mouse follows voice over cursor in the vo
utility, fyi.

The tech person said that he had to escalate this to engineering because this
shouldn't be happening and that he'd call me back, but as of yet, nothing has
happened. He was supposed to email me a ticket number, but all he emailed me
was a stupid link for my support stuff with apple. He also said I might have
to reinstall Lion.

Does anybody have any ideas about what might be going on with my system and how
to fix this and how to reinstall lion if I need to do that? How do I do a
clean install, if that's possible? Mark made a disk, if that's helpful, when
we first installed lion. I'm running the latest lion update.

Thanks for any help! Nothing like having a computer start acting up right
before finals!

Caitlyn

problems with videos in safari

2012-04-10 Thread Caitlyn Furness
Hi,

I'm having problems with a particular web site and accessing videos on it with
my i mac. I'm using the latest build of Safari, whatever number we're up to
now, and I've also tried it with Chrome, I think the version I have is 16.

anyway, the videos are supposed to be embedded into the site's pages and play
automatically when you select them, but they don't, at least, not on my mac.

I contacted the guy who runs the site and he said he developed the web site on
a mac and it works fine with his and to try rebooting and also to try chrome.
Well, I did those things and nothing works.

What I have done is to uninstall click to flash from my machine. I've tested
the site on Mark's mac and it works on his, but you have do a mouse click with
vo shift space on the video title to get it to play. I've gone to the site on
our windows machine with the screen reader he uses and it works there no
problems.

I can watch you tube videos fine on here otherwise.

any ideas?

The site is www.livefitrevolution.org and it's free to join.

Thanks,
Caitlyn

I messages question

2012-03-16 Thread Caitlyn Furness
Hi,
Does anyone know how to delete a conversation or just a message in the messages
beta on the mac?

Can I do this from the mac or do I have to delete from the i device side? I've
looked in the menus and can't find anything there. I did try hitting the
delete key when the conversation I wanted to get rid of was highlighted, but it
didn't work.

Thanks,
Caitlyn

question about blue tooth keyboard cases for i pads

2011-11-25 Thread Caitlyn Furness
Hi,

I just got an i pad today and got the targis keyboard/case to go with it. It
didn't come with directions of any type that I can find, so I am wondering
about charging it, if that's necessary or if it possibly charges off of the i
pad itself? I've looked all over the thing and there doesn't seem to be a spot
for batteries or anything, nor a place for a plug of any type…

thanks,
A totally mystified Caitlyn with her new i pad

Thanks for this explaination. I'm actually going through the list with quick

little easier! lol! This doesn't sound too bad, though, even though it's got
a few steps. Can't exactly complain about a bunch of free rintones, can I??

partitioning an external drive for a bootable backup

2011-10-18 Thread Caitlyn Furness
Hi,
Can somebody refresh my memory on how to create a bootable external disk for
snow leopard using disk utility? I want to upgrade to lion finally and want to
make a back up of my mac which is now running snow leopard. I have carbon copy
cloner, but I want to make a bootable external drive with my external drive,
just in case something goes wrong.

Also, is anyone currently running fusion version 3 with win xp under lion? I
heard it doesn't work, so don't want to do this upgrade if that's so, since I
need fusion and k1000 for my school..

thanks,
Cait

Ok, I'd like to be able to arrow down through a folder of mp3's and see the run
time(length) of the movie without doing the command I thing, if possible, on
each individual file. I could do this on that other operating system, but
honestly, I can't remember how I made it happen. It's not ahuge huge deal,
since I can do it with command i, but it would be nice if it could be done is
all.

Re: MobileGeo replacement?

2011-10-17 Thread Caitlyn Furness
coming in late on this..

I still have my old htc phone, running without a sim card, no phone number
attached to it, and geo works fine, despite what both sendero and code factory
have said.

I have navigon, ariadne and sendero look around on my i phone. Only reason I
am keeping geo is I just got it last summer and spent oodles on it!

All these things are good, comparisons are hard, though, at least for me they
are..

knowing the length of an mp3 file

2011-10-17 Thread Caitlyn Furness
Hi,

Is there any way to know the running time of an mp3 file while viewing the file
in the folder list? For example, I have a folder with all my dvs movies in
it(not a play list in i tunes, just a folder on my macintosh hd), and I'd like
to be able to find out how long a movie is just by arrowing up and down through
the list. Right now I can see how big the files are in megs, but that's not
especially helpful.

Thanks,
Caitlyn

Re: anybody else having problems upgrading to ios 5?

2011-10-12 Thread Caitlyn Furness
Hi James,

Ok, I can certainly try that. I've tried a couple of times now with varying
results, but still no luck getting it installled. I do think it successfully
downloaded to my mac, though. It keeps saying my phone can't be restored
because of an internal error, which seems weird to me.

I forgot to say I'm still running snow leopard, if that matters, but don't
think it does in this case... Let us know how Lynn makes out. The update just
became available in our area about an hour and a half ago, actually, according
to the sms my carrier sent me on my phone.
Thanks,
Cait

anybody else having problems upgrading to ios 5?

2011-10-12 Thread Caitlyn Furness
Hi,

I just tried to upgrade to ios 5 with my i phone and had a bunch of different
things happen.

First, it told me my i phone couldn't be restroed. I shrugged this off and
attempted to update again. It then told me I didn't have an internet
connection and that my phone couldn't be updated because my i phone couldn't be
found.

I updated my i tunes yesterday to the new version.

Oh, and it also said that all my data, etc, on my phone would be lost since my
phone couldn't be restored, would I like to continue anyway(this was the first
time).

Anybody got any suggestions, or is this just i tunes silliness?

clickable?

2011-09-19 Thread Caitlyn Furness
Hi,
While looking up some nutritional information on www.skinnycow.com the other
day, the information I needed was under a link which was labeled nutritional
information followed by the tag, clickable. I tried vo space on it, enter,
option enter, basically everything I could think of to get the darn thing to
work and nothing happened. I asked a sighted friend to go to this site and
look up the info for me and she said that when you physically click a mouse on
the link(which isn't a tradiational link), a little box pops up on the screen,
and it actually says "click to view" on the screen next to the link. So, how
do we accomplish this with voiceover?

Thanks,
Caitlyn

Re: turn off the lights

2011-08-19 Thread Caitlyn Furness
I can help with this.. turn off the lights is a safari extention. I have it on
my mac, too, because I clicked on it when I was trying to install click to
flash and hit that one instead, so maybe Mark did the same thing.

Further to this, how in the world do you remove extentions you try and then
don't want anymore, anybody know?

thanks,
Caitlyn

keyboard question

2011-07-21 Thread Caitlyn Furness

Hi,

I was at the apple store yesterday during al the Lion madness and mac book air
goings on for my friend to get a new iphone and I found out there are actually
drivers for my ergonomic keyboard so I canuse it with my i mac. I got the
latest onesand put them on, but now I've got no control and option keys on
theright side of the keyboard. The physical keys are there, but they don't
work now. obviously, this is frustrating, since I can't do vo commands with the
right side, nor can I now use my time apple script with the right option key
and t. anybody got any ideas? This is the microsoft intellitype pro
keyboard(unfortunately, but it's nice for typing if you've got carpal tunnel).
I haven't used it long enough yet to see if other things aren't working as
expected. I looked in system prefs to see if there's a place in the keyboard
section to tell the mac "this is the right control key", etc, but didn't see
anything.

Thanks,
Caitlyn
