my brother just got an iPad pro and is really impressed with the processing speed and quality of the sound. I don't need a larger screen obviously. but sometimes I need to display images or video so someone can help me sort them for use on my website. that is why I'm settled on a 13 inch screen or there abouts. thinking of a mac book pro and just dropping the cd rom to lose a little of the weight. another thing i'm sure of is this time I'm maxing out the ram and going with a SSD or compact flash hard drive. thanks, max On Jul 9, 2016, at 4:41 AM, Simon Fogarty wrote: > The ipad pros come in a 12.? Re: mac book pro, mac book air, or iPad pro?
I think I'm still wanting a full computer and not a tablet. Maybe I'll go all in and get a mac book and a 9 inch iPad. but assuming I am staying with a mac book do i want a mac book pro or a mac book air? I'm thinking pro but without the dvd cd rom. I mean I hardly ever need one, and when I do; it would be so much more convenient to just carry a little external drive or portable dvd player instead. what do you think? Re: recording a video
walter; I do it all the time. I use the quick time pro app to record. what you need to do is find a sighted friend in person or via Skype who can help you figure out how to set your monitor so your face will be roughly in the middle of the screen. I had a friend named robin hallett who did this for me a few years ago and i still use the guide i created after talking with her. one tip though be sure that you turn the lights on in the room before pressing record. and i don't have to tell you to do a few test recordings to check your audio levels. from what i hear online people are more tolerant of video that is a little off center than they are of audio that is too loud too soft or has to many interruptions from outside noise. and remember the most important thing no one is perfect. even the sighted people who have lots of help and who have recorded many videos still have to get to a point where they go that could have been better but trying to make it better is a waste of time. good luck, max Maxwell Ivey Jr. phone 979-215-1770 Skype Maxwell Ivey twitter @maxwellivey as mr. midway www.midwaymarketplace.com email maxw...@midwaymarketplace.com as the blind blogger www.theblindblogger.net email just...@theblindblogger.net On Nov 14, 2015, at 5:15 AM, Walter Harper wrote: > Hello all, > Is it possible for a totally blind person to record a video on the mac of > making a tutorial or something? when you get to preferences you want to go to accounts. after selecting whatever account you created you can then arrow or tab through the screen name password and smtp info. on mine the default sound was an air plane taking off when an email has been sent. did you hear that or some other sound when you tried sending your test email. in the account settings will be one button in the advanced tab that says include this mailbox when checking mail. make sure that one is clicked. i'm sure there are other members who will be able to give clearer instructions, max Maxwell Ivey Jr. phone 979-215-1770 Skype Maxwell Ivey twitter @maxwellivey as mr. midway www.midwaymarketplace.com email maxw...@midwaymarketplace.com as the blind blogger www.theblindblogger.net email just...@theblindblogger.net On Jul 30, 2015, at 7:55 AM, gracewelln...@atlanticbb.net wrote: Is it possible that you give me more details? Voiceover stops reading the text in the field I'm editing, so I've no idea where abouts in the information I am, so consequently can't delete/amend/type anything different. My Apple personal ttrainer spent 35 minutes in my lesson today trying to do the same thing using voiceover, but with absolutely no joy at all. So does anyone know how I can successfully go about editing the information/bio in my Twitter profile using voiceover?? Is it actually accessible? Or am I always going to have to rely on a sighted person to change things for me?? Any help/information anyone could give on this would be most gratefully appreciated. My personal trainer has sent an e-mail to Twitter complaining about their inaccessibility in this regard. Would encourage anyone else who's having this problem to do the same in the hopes that Twitter will listen and improve things for us. Re: Taking Video for Youtube
good advice but don't forget someone can help you with setting the camera via Skype. they don't have to be in the room with you. my friend robin did that with me. we figured out how i should set my laptop whether i was sitting at a table in a chair or leaning back. i love quick time. its much more basic. you press record and then stop. what i like to do is record several small videos as its easier to get them right than recording one long video. then i use the add clip feature in the edit menu. when i have all the clips tied together I go to files and do an export. then i have one whole movie file. as for youtube i record in hd but then i do a second export to 480 p because it doesn't hurt the viewer's ability to enjoy the video and it allows for much quicker uploads and smoother playing on mobile devices. the window is about 530 380 . hope this helps, max Maxwell Ivey Jr. phone 979-215-1770 Skype Maxwell Ivey twitter @maxwellivey as mr. midway www.midwaymarketplace.com email maxw...@midwaymarketplace.com as the blind blogger www.theblindblogger.net email just...@theblindblogger.net On Jun 14, 2015, at 6:27 PM, Phil Halton wrote: Brandon, currently I'm using the built in QuickTime app to do all my video recording. documentary tv show producer needs a blind marketer
hello group; i am very active on linked in and a friend referred a gentleman to me this week. he currently works for cisco and is starting his own company to produce documentary television projects. their first four episodes will concentrate on marketing. he is seeking a visually impaired or blind person who is primarily a marketer whether that be as an employee of a company or as a business owner. the key is your main focus and most of your duties need to be in the area of marketing. he determined that with all i have going on i am really more of an entrepreneur. he said we would do a different project down the road. I'm not counting on that even though he is a nice guy and comes highly recommended. but when i realized i wasn't a good fit for it, i told him i would do my best to find someone who is. if you think you fit this description and are interested in being featured in a tv show that will be more about what you do than the fact you are a blind person doing it; then please email me off list and I'll get you together with him. thanks for reading this, Maxwell Ivey Jr. phone 979-215-1770 Skype Maxwell Ivey twitter @maxwellivey as mr. midway www.midwaymarketplace.com email maxw...@midwaymarketplace.com as the blind blogger www.theblindblogger.net email just...@theblindblogger.net -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. I'm glad to hear you're already enjoying the iPhone; some people who get it with the expectation of loving it straight away end up struggling for a while before they get the hang of things. For Facebook, your best bet is the official Facebook app. It's not perfect, but it works. Their other apps--Messenger, Rooms, and Stories--are also accessible. Twitter has an accessible, official app too, but I prefer third-party ones. Twitterrific is really nice, and is currently my primary app. Tweetings has some cool features and is worth a look, and I've heard that TweetLogix (possibly not spelled correctly) is another good option. As for other apps, that all depends on what you're looking for: games, word processors, book readers, social networking, navigation, money identifying, bar code readers, object identifiers, light detectors, and plenty more. As always, I highly recommend www.applevis.com, specifically the page for new iOS users, as a great place to start. Personally, the apps that pop into my head right off the bat are: * Voice Dream Reader, for reading just about any text/audio book or file that isn't encrypted. This includes Bookshare, Instapaper, Dropbox, and plenty more, all built into the app, and you can use third-party voices from the likes of Ivona Neospeech, and others to read. * Dice World is a collection of six dice games, and is beyond accessible. * Lire is an RSS reader with tons of great features, and is so accessible the developer has a section in the app's settings for VO users to decide what information to hear when reviewing article lists. * Red Laser is a free bar code reader that works really well, once you get the hang of it. * Downcast or Overcast are two nice apps for handling podcasts. I use Downcast, but I've heard great things about Overcast as well. * Carrit Fit, Carrot Hunger, and Carrot Weather are all fun apps. Fit and Hunger are for exercise and calorie tracking, respectively, and Weather is (not surprisingly) a weather app. All three are fully accessible. Anyway, AppleVis has a lot more information, including an entire page of apps we recommend for new iOS users. All that I'm doing is trying to determine anyone who might be interested in contributing some podcast material for our web site in general. Being this list is mainly about the Mac, and IOS, I'd like to get some content put together about either/or. It doesn't have to be Ajpple related, although that certainly is one topic that I'd like to definitely cover. No, I am absolutely not! trying to compete with Applevis. I still consider that site to be a great resource. I'm only stating that the option is now open on my web site as well in addition. If you'd like to help out, then go ahead and record the podcast episode, and upload it by going to: http://www.clgproductions.net Then, once there, click on the link that says, Submit a podcast. music question
hello; recently i started recording myself singing some of my favorite songs. i recorded them without instrumentals. a few friends have asked me if i plan to record any with the music behind them and the answer is yes if i can figure out how. so it seems to me there are two parts to this question. one how do i find audio without the lyrics. is there a site where i can download these. and second how do i record myself singing so that people hear the instrumental tracks along with my voice. and oh yes if i can manage both of those i'd love to be able to record video of me singing where people can also hear the instrumental tracks. i'm not great at using editing software. so cheap and easy would be best. and if someone want to help me through it or even do the editing for me i wouldn't turn them down. i believe in learning new skills but i also believe we can do so much more by concentrating on what we are good at and getting help with the things we aren't so great at. thanks for any help, max -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. Re: .ogg to mp3 or aac audio conversion?
hi i tried the quick time solution. i selected 480 p as the format from the drop down menu. the resulting file was only 1/3 the size and allowed me to upload it to a website that was refusing it because it was too large. the difference was that the end file is now 640 by 360 much smaller than 1080p but its all about people seeing your work. also this screen dimension is probably better since so many people are accessing the web on their phones and tablets. thanks, max On Jan 20, 2015, at 4:21 PM, CHUCK REICHEL wrote: Thanks Barry, I'm checking into the quicktime solution. hi donna; when i was doing one every week up until a few months ago i was not real happy with it. there were a lot of unlabelled buttons. i didn't feel confident using it by myself. but a few weeks ago i had to communicate with someone who insisted on doing a hangout. since it was their show i said okay. i was pleasantly surprised to find they have labelled all the buttons. some of their add ons still don't play nice one called the tool box in particular but they are getting better. i find my biggest complain with google being that the circles aren't labelled when you are trying to add to a circle or move people between circles. now to the limitations of a hangout or hangout on air. with a hangout you can invite as many people as you want but only have ten participating at one time. with a hangout on air you can only invite 100 people and still have only ten in the conversation. the real difference is that a hangout is not recorded while a hangout on air is automatically uploaded to youtube. hope this helped, max On Dec 18, 2014, at 11:06 AM, Donna Goodin wrote: Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has any experience using Google hangouts on the Mac? Re: Problem with paying paypal credit
there should be a number on pay pal's website. and i hope you didn't respond to one of those fishing emails. good luck, max On Dec 18, 2014, at 4:31 PM, Mary Jo Partyka wrote: Hi, Ray, I am also having trouble with paypal and they keep telling me there is a problem with my account and I already changed my password in response to their email once. The Bill Me Later site worked fine but shortly after the switch of course that site was closed. Last month I did manage to pay my bill but this month I can't click my payment method no matter what I do on the Mac. I very definitely clicked the feedback button and told them to put back the radio buttons as standard instead of these clickable things - at least that's how they look for voiceover. They still have radio buttons for other choices but not for the payment method. I have changed my mouse pointer settings, tried different voiceover options from vo utility for the web; this is driving me nuts! Any suggestions? I can't get the mouse to line up with it; I can't get keyboard focus on it; I can get vo focus and I can flick to it on the trackpad but nothing with mouse either via cmd-vo-f5 and vo-f5 or by the actual Apple mouse which admittedly I'm not very good with. Tabbing passes it up. Absolutely nothing allows me to click my payment option. When I click continue I am told that I don't have enough balance in my paypal account (which of course I don't!) and am asked to choose a payment option - as if that isn't what I've been trying to do! Re: Using Google Hangouts?
hi donna; i forgot the best part. when i was doing regular hangouts you had to get a new url every time. they now give each account its own hangout url so once you give it out you don't have to give out a new site address out every time. let me know when you try your first one. you are welcome to invite me to a try out hangout. just add me on g plus first. oh that is the one big draw back you can only hangout with other g plus members. wishing you all the best with the new job, max On Dec 18, 2014, at 8:00 PM, Donna Goodin wrote: Hi Max, Sounds like we're in pretty much the same position. when you send a new email there should be a field to select which account. it will be a select bar so you will have to press space then arrow down til you find the account you want and then press space or enter to accept. if you have different signatures enabled for different accounts these will automatically be added to the email after you choose where to send from. hope that helps, max On Sep 13, 2014, at 10:17 PM, Joe Quinn wrote: i've got my google and iCloud accounts when in mail, is there a way to choose what address it's sent from? thanks, and, sorry for all the questions. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group.
