Well, I looked at the video and I'm impressed! I stand corrected! It's still not as powerful as an air impact, but it's really good. Nifty! You could also get an electric impact wrench but I suspect your solution is still cheaper. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wreVvzNWQm0 -Curt On Friday, August 28, 2020, 9:54:21 PM EDT, Craig via Mercedes wrote: Having a tractor/trailer and wanting to be able to remove the wheels, I had to figure out how to do that. I realized there were two options: The first, more traditional and more macho option is to get a 1" impact wrench and use that with a 1/2" air line to a large compressor. This would require me to get a 1" impact wrench, a larger air compressor, and some 1/2" air line. The second option is to use one of the mechanical advantage type lug nut removers like I posted a few months ago. This would require only the tool and not a larger compressor, and could also be used where there is no compressed air. The second option is what I chose. Rather than going to Northern Tool (whose products I previously posted) I looked for something made in the USA. I found https://cheaterwrench.com/ . The price on the website was $249.00, but the price on Amazon was $163.00. I called up the company and asked if the lifetime warranty would be honored if I purchased it from Amazon. The fellow with whom I talked said the item was the same and would be shipped from them in either case, and, yes, the warranty would be honored if I bought it from Amazon (which is NOT the case for compressed air parts made by Milton!). I mentioned the lower price on Amazon; he said sometimes they ran sales on Amazon. After talking with him about various aspects of the tool, I purchased the tool from Amazon and additionally their "Torque Adapter" and "Speed Adapter" directly from their website (https://cheaterwrench.com/sockets-adapters/). What I got and how it is used is shown in the attached pictures. Re: [MBZ] OT: Sunlight calculator
Stake (sundial) shadows have nothing to do with trees or buildings in the area, which is the usual problem when siting solar. It's either in the shade, or it is not, you don't need an algorithm to determine that. You only need one stake, or your address, to determine sun angle. (I.e., your latitude.) I believe the original problem posed is determining the impingement on the 'solar window' at various potential backyard sites. Re: [MBZ] OT: Sunlight calculator
Just way oversize your solar panel and battery pack. How big a light are you looking to run? A 35ah wheelchair battery will run an LED for a long time. You don't have to mount the battery and solar panel right next to each other and neither of those needs to be near the light... -Curt On Friday, August 28, 2020, 3:48:24 PM EDT, Andrew Strasfogel via Mercedes wrote: Thanks for all the input. Re: [MBZ] OT: Sunlight calculator
Simple, don't drive a stake in a shade area.. the sun obstruction will be obvious. The stakes with the shortest shade will have the most direct sun angle... long shade means you are in a low sun angle, not good for absorbing UV to make electric.. Think, sun dial... when the sun is at high noon... directly overhead... how long is the sundial shadow?
