The idea of someone telling me how and what I can spend my money on, or 
asserting that such decisions are anyone else's concern, or implying 
that my decisions are less than acceptable.  If Americans want a big 
thirsty vehicle (or continue to drive one because I don't want to spend 
huge money to save a few mpg) and the market offers them (here 
recognizing the gummint's meddling in fuel efficiency), and Americans 
have the money to buy and put fuel in them, then that is our option to 
choose.  Or a small sippy vehicle, or an electric or hybrid or bicycle 
or whatever else.  Because, MERKA!

I guess I would lump Canadians in with Americans for being foolish 
enough to start buying big gas guzzling SUVs as soon as the price goes 
down a bit.
I am not prepared to believe that the price of a barrel of oil is likely 
to stay as low as it currently is for long.
I doubt that real supply has much to do with so called "shortages" that 
drive up the price of a barrel of oil. That seems to be manipulation as 
much as anything.

If oil is the benchmark, then everything else should deflate also?


Unfortunately the goobers have been inflating (weimar style) the 
currency desperately to try to mask the massive damage the bummer and 
his minions have done to the economy.  The natural thing would have 
been to have 6 yrs of deflation as the economy shrinks, but instead 
we had mostly stable conditions with some inflation and some 
deflation in items or sectors.  With the chicom meltdown, The mask 
may come off here also.
