I know that in some of the African languages of the kalahari desert the people use varying click sounds. Anthropologists have used symbols to denote these different sounds so they can write what they are saying, cuz to my knowledge they do not have a written language. The main tribe that uses this is the Dobe !Kung, the ! is a loud click sound that is made kinda by snapping your tounge from the roof of your mouth to the bottom.
