PrimoPDF. Is that still a good one or is there something better? It
 appears
one of my users is having problems with incompatibility between her
 Outlook

 me,
but it is Anyway, if ya'll could let me know what you think is the
 best
FREE PDF maker, I'd appreciate it.

RE: free PDF printer

2011-01-20 Thread John Aldrich
In my defense, 1) I did recall PrimoPDF and asked if that was still a good
one. 2) I never told anyone to go pound sand as someone on this list
accused me of doing. I *did* suggest we stop beating a dead horse, and that
I'd keep all the recommendations in mind should the quick and easy solution
not work out as well as I hoped.

Yep. As I said, the user was completely down. Her email crashed as soon as
she opened it. According to Microsoft, the problem was an incompatibility
with Adobe Creator. So, I grabbed the highest rated (by both users and CNET

Yep. As I said, the user was completely down. Her email crashed as soon as
she opened it. According to Microsoft, the problem was an incompatibility
with Adobe Creator. So, I grabbed the highest rated (by both users and CNET
editors) PDF creator app and installed it.

It's very good. The Pro version is excellent value and
allows for the use of multiple Batch Printers which can
have naming rules, destination etc attached to them.

Yep. As I said, the user was completely down. Her email crashed as soon as
she opened it. According to Microsoft, the problem was an incompatibility
with Adobe Creator. So, I grabbed the highest rated (by both users and CNET
editors) PDF creator app and installed it.

Right,
And since it hasn't been released in MSI form for so long, I set it up in
server mode on my print server and have it dump the pdf's in the users private
folder. I then wrote a vb script to change the permissions which it runs after
each job.

Now I don't have to install it on all the boxes, just one server to maintain...

RE: free PDF printer

2011-01-18 Thread John Aldrich
Jonathan, I appreciate the advice of the community here, but as I mentioned,
the user's Outlook was non-functional due to the presence of the previously
installed Acrobat. What changed since I installed that 2+ years ago, I don't
know, however the user was *DOWN* while this was in there, so I had to get
them back up and running ASAP. IF this does not work, I will try one of the
other options mentioned here.

It was quicker to go to search CNet than click the link for PDFCreator in my

Well I was in a hurry so I went to CNET Downloads and found PDF Redirect.
I'm gonna give that a shot and if it doesn't make the user happy, I'll try
PDF Creator. PDF Redirect had the best reviews for both CNET Editors and
end-users so hopefully it'll work ok.
