Hi Catherine,

For the BPMN.io license issue:
https://jira.onap.org/browse/CLAMP-44,<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__jira.onap.org_browse_CLAMP-2D44-2C=DwMGaQ=LFYZ-o9_HUMeMTSQicvjIg=66ObImPAUA0o2f1hTGknnnv5ScXvX8EnREJCPHHBY5M=D8f69gDkom2R2qN1BFh3eI7RE_mKfbDdmo7tWDGwGC4=XZ5QB42PFnH49gAvHt8T9Jvj-vgr9yjjIA_zuyve-U8=>
maybe we can choice common workflow design toolkit provided by SDC Workflow
Design Suite as an alternative.

If so, I can complete the replacement work to cover the issue of CLAMP-44.

Good morning Yuan,

Best wishes for a happy new year to you and your family.

Martial is on vacation this week.
He will be back to the office on January 9th.
Ron will organize the ONAP CLAMP Weekly call.

Concerning your queries,
BPMN.io
I understand that the team has identified a solution that they will implement
as part of the Beijing release.
The following user story was created to cover the BPMN.io license issue:
https://jira.onap.org/browse/CLAMP-44<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__jira.onap.org_browse_CLAMP-2D44=DwMGaQ=LFYZ-o9_HUMeMTSQicvjIg=66ObImPAUA0o2f1hTGknnnv5ScXvX8EnREJCPHHBY5M=D8f69gDkom2R2qN1BFh3eI7RE_mKfbDdmo7tWDGwGC4=MEsAxw6km9P2ziYxU-rwUYE1ayp4IQS0kvZXcyufnmk=>

Consistency between UIs (CLAMP/SDC/Policy etc.)
Some discussions were organized between the SDC and the CLAMP teams prior the
holidays season.
I understand that the long term solution will be to define a common SDK that
will be consumed by any project for their UIs.
For the Beijing release, the SDC SDK will not be available yet therefore the
current solution is to implement a blowfish mechanism between SDC and CLAMP.
The Common Workflow Design Toolkit could be an alternative to uniform UI for
any project – something to explore.

I do not recall any discussion regarding AngularJS upgrade but the CLAMP team
might be able to provide more insights later today.

Re: [onap-discuss] M2 Functionality Frezee feedback request

2017-08-09 Thread Lefevre, Catherine
Good morning Gildas,

Thank you for building this new proposal.

Please find my feedback.

Slide 4

*The goal of the Functionality Freeze is to de-risk the release by
providing a stable target for integration with other components. It marks the
end of the API definition coding and feature addition activities. At
Functionality Freeze, API stubs must be coded.
[CLEF]:
I do not think it is possible because there is no previous design freeze
milestone prior M2
At functionality freeze, the design and the documentation should be available
but not yet the source code.
The implementation of the API is one of the targets of M3.

*After Functionality Freeze, no new visible features/APIs are to be
added to the current ONAP release codebase.
[CLEF]: Please consider my previous feedback. It is not practical to freeze the
ONAP source code at M2 milestone if there is no previous design freeze.

*At Functionality Freeze, the following activities have been achieved:
-All committed functionalities have been coded and committed to the
onap repos.
[CLEF]: See previous statement, what do you consider as left for M3 & M4 if all
the code is already implemented

-All source code has automated unit test (Project Team).

[CLEF]: All the already available source code should have an automatic unit
test but the code not yet available will also require additional unit tests
-The team is meeting regularly and has completed at least one sprint.
[CLEF]: Is there a reason to add this new statement? Or do you consider Sprint0
- typically use to set the preparation work to be performed by the Scrum Team.
-Seed code has been delivered to LF, scanned, and deposited into ONAP
repos
[CLEF]: Can we suggest to LF team that they provide the scan results no later
than M2-2 weeks so the project team has enough time to fix any identified issue?
It also requires that the seed code is available to LF, M2-3 weeks? Is it
achievable?

Please also add to the slide 3 - the API Stubs as part of
activities to be achieved by M2

Many thanks & regards
Catherine

Dear ONAP Community Members,

Functionality freeze earlier today at TSC weekly meeting.

The requirement was to clarify and propose changes on some elements of M2

M2 Functionality Freeze.

The attached proposal presents the current definition and highlights the
proposed changes to meet the above expectations.

Let me know your thoughts and we will take it from there to refine the

Let me know if there are changes required to oparent to enable the output.

I agree that FindBugs and PMD both seem like good additions.

Thanks,
Gary

Catherine,

I believe FindBugs and PMD can be good addition. IIRC, in ODL, FindBugs does
the following
https://wiki.opendaylight.org/view/BestPractices/Coding_Guidelines#FindBugs<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__wiki.opendaylight.org_view_BestPractices_Coding-5FGuidelines-23FindBugs=DwMGaQ=LFYZ-o9_HUMeMTSQicvjIg=66ObImPAUA0o2f1hTGknnnv5ScXvX8EnREJCPHHBY5M=T-npNHUXBT4cLQ_hwi4xf_rhSsJeFYWoELRoO7lrBVk=VahuX55fSlFYyzr5ffwdgtpLcnYybhSBr12PRCeDjN4=>
and PMD check for copy-paste code (configured for 10 LoC c/p)

Alexis,
When you run Checkstyle plug-in for Jenkins as part of your build job then
Jenkins will display the number of warnings found from your build.

I was wondering if we should also consider FindBugs plug-in and PMD plug-in.
FindBugs - It is an open source program which uses static analysis to look for
bugs in Java code.
PMD- It checks the code for unused fields, empty, try / catch / if / while /
finally, block, unused method parameters and stuff like that.

Here are additional information – let me know what you think.

Hi Catherine,

In today’s Integration meeting, we discussed having CLAMP pilot trials around
coding styles. In OPEN-O we centrally defined coding styles in the oparent
project/repo, and it would be great if we can do likewise for ONAP so we can
avoid duplicate or conflicting definitions across projects. Do you think we
can have CLAMP do a pilot run on inheriting from oparent as well?

Is there an place where the code style rules have been explained? I believe a

Good evening Gaurav,

You can find the ONAP Docker strategy on the ONAP wiki - look at the "VMs and

SDNC inside ONAP system

Hello There

We have started looking at MSO Code and there does exists an relationship
between docker-compose.yml and pom.xml present inside multiple directories
inside MSO projects .

To Further look at Code Flow - In case some has deployed ONAP System can the
following information be provided .

a- how many Application are running inside each docker containers . ( When I
say Application I mean distinct PID as indicated in ps -eaf )
b - How does the Application running inside 2 differnt docker containers inside
the same VM interacts with each other .

For Example MSO has 2 docker containers and SDNC 4 Dockers .
- ps -eaf ( output from each docker containers )
- netstat -tunlp ( output from each docker containers )

pls note that above two information needs to be collected from each of the
dockers inside MSO , SDNC

with best regards

Hello

To be able to work on call flow in a collaborative way, I believe that we
should use a tool based on a description language rather using images.

Is there any guideline within the Linux Foundation for such tooling ?

Within Orange, we developed a cool tool:

Re: [onap-discuss] Staging repo in settings.xml

2017-06-01 Thread Lefevre, Catherine
Gary, Oliver,

I have discussed again this topic with Christophe this morning

Looking at the number of potential project proposals, we believe that the
versioning could be handled independently
The key is to publish the Manifesto for each release containing the good
combination of containers, artifacts etc.
This is also a lesson learnt from the OpenStack Community.

I believe we should move in that direction except if the ONAP TSC does not agree

Best regards
Catherine

Hi Oliver,

There are definitely disadvantages to keeping all versions in sync, as you
mentioned.

I think the main issue to decide on is this: To what degree will the ONAP
community support a mix of different versions of different modules?

If each module is independently versioned, then which specific version
combinations will ONAP officially support for each ONAP release?

* If we only support one canonical combination, then we might as well keep all
versions in sync.

* If we support arbitrary version combinations, then the number of possible
combinations becomes astronomical.

* Or maybe it's somewhere between the two, i.e. keep a small list of specific,
supported version combinations, maybe corresponding to a few critical fixes
only.

Any bug fix or version bump in any module has the potential to introduce a
breaking change against some specific versions of another module, or even
breaking compatibility with a VNF that had been certified against a particular
"base release" of ONAP. How should we address such issues? How should we
respond to people who are using a version combination that is not officially
supported?

I can see pros and cons to either approach (sync all versions or not), which is
why the TSC probably needs to weigh in on this.

Thanks,

Gary

Gary,

thanks for the summary.

I would NOT try to keep the version numbers in sync. Either way creates work
and I believe keeping them in sync creates much more work.

E.g. if you apply a patch to a jar file (let’s say an emergency security patch
which will come..) in a release branch does that mean everybody has to generate
a jar file with the matching version number and push it out even if nothing
changed? So that creates work for 31 projects (current count) when one project
fixes a bug in one jar file. Does even the documentation projects have to bump
the version number on there documentation because somebody edited a jar file?
That either slows down patching or generates a lot of work for a lot of people.

Even keeping mayor version numbers in sync is questionable to me. E.g. if two
years from now a new project is started and ONAP is on release 4.x.x does that
mean a fairly new jar file should start out with release number 4.x.x ? That
would indicate much more maturity then the jar file probably has at that point
in time and is misleading to the user.

So I would have an ONAP release number and version numbers of artifacts which
tie into a release. I am not quite sure why that would be more work then above.

Hi Kedar,

I previously thought that you were looking at some Logging/Diagnostic
Information per component (i.e. DCAE, Policy, MSO etc.) so you can track where
the issue is in the vDNS/vLB flow.

Did you also look at the tutorial?

Hi Catherine,

Thanks for reply. I looked into the wiki page you pointed but it doesn't talk
about vLB use case. This

explains the use case to some extent.

But for my issue, where to look for logs ? Could anyone explain on these lines -

How to verify VES events generated by LB VM ?
How to verify VES events collected by DCAE ?
How to verify policy applied by DCAE ?

Hoe to verify MSO orchestrating spawning a new DNS VM ?

Hi,

I am trying to observe closed loop scenario for vLB use case.

I confirmed with nslookup host1.dnsdemo.openecomp.org *vLoadBalancer_IP* that
setup is ok.

I increased the traffic on packet generator of vLB with below command.

curl -X PUT -H "Authorization: Basic YWRtaW46YWRtaW4=" -H "Content-Type:
application/json" -H "Cache-Control: no-cache" -d '{"pg-streams":{"pg-stream":
[{"id":"dns1", "is-enabled":"true"}, {"id":"dns2",
"is-enabled":"true"},{"id":"dns3", "is-enabled":"true"},{"id":"dns4",
"is-enabled":"true"},{"id":"dns5", "is-enabled":"true"}]}}' "http://localhost
:8183/restconf/config/sample-plugin:sample-plugin/pg-streams<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__localhost-2520-3A8183_restconf_config_sample-2Dplugin-3Asample-2Dplugin_pg-2Dstreams=DwMFAg=LFYZ-o9_HUMeMTSQicvjIg=66ObImPAUA0o2f1hTGknnnv5ScXvX8EnREJCPHHBY5M=lbl8E25TNjw1m7vM9a953FkrKsxrVn1gbUbBN_-pGWo=1qS90sCpHpg-Eo6iUG4gtGUJyRU9FUt25KXY-mJg1Ws=>"

After above command, I expect an instance of demovlbdns VM to get spawned under
heat stack of vLB. I don't see that happening.

I also confirmed by installing a monitoring agent on demovlbdns that it
actually gets more traffic.

Can anyone tell how to verify the logs of closed control loop across the
components of ONAP ? Which logs to refer to find out the problem ?

Can anyone provide any pointers on why the mariadb docker stops, or is this the

Hi Nayan,

Please take a look at the readme.md file, it will give you some useful
information about MSO and how to debug it.

https://gerrit.onap.org/r/gitweb?p=mso.git;a=blob;f=readme.md;h=3f9b4518cce67307fe01c6675bc907199b4d5d5f;hb=HEAD

Please note that MSO is interacting with several ONAP components therefore I
would recommend that you indeed install the entire ONAP in order to trial it
through the two available use cases i.e. vFirewall, vDNS.

Hello

To be able to work on call flow in a collaborative way, I believe that we
should use a tool based on a description language rather using images.

Is there any guideline within the Linux Foundation for such tooling ?

Within Orange, we developed a cool tool:

Hi Daneil,

If the Dev team themselves can let us know their environment setup and their
development work flow for individual components, it would be really helpful
since we cannot have the complete setup locally and Devs would like to develop
individual components standalone.

Hello, each component today generally has its own process for setting up an
environment. I think dcae has one here
https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/DCAE+Controller+Development+Guide
but there is some room for improvement on most of them. I think we can put out
a request for someone like rich bennett to ask for that from the dev teams.

Hi Victor, Shankar & Daniel

Any learning you can share round this would be most welcome.

Getting a development environment operating with some subset of modules that
can be deployed locally with limited resources is key to building knowledge of
the code base.

I know its early in the game but the developers tutorial material is a pretty
sparse on the wiki.

I'd have thought an early focus on this is key to attracting developers from
the wider open source community.

I believe verify has to be set to False and then you can rerun the test again

Have you updated the BE configuration per my suggestion? KEYSPACE_NOT_CONNECTED
is most likely because the BE cannot reach Cassandra. Do you see any errors in
BE stderr.log now?

It's not clear from your last email what steps you have taken to fix the issue.

Also, please run "docker inspect" on the Cassandra container to see if it
exposes port 9042.

Hi Kedar,

I’m not familiar with preloading (Dan can cover that part), but for what
regards the vLB demo flow, APP-C is not involved. During the closed loop,
policy gets the VNF Id from AAI and provides this Id as argument of a
CreateVF-Module request to MSO, which actually spins up the second DNS.

The figure in the wiki is outdated and should be replaced. Honeycomb isn’t used
on the vLB VM.

you should be calling ./demo.sh appc . What branch of onap are you using? Release1?

Marco can answer questions about the actual demo closed loop better.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for reply !

1. In zip file uploaded, I had base_vlb_rackspace and dnsscaling_rackspace
files.

2. I did demo.sh preload for
K-demoVLB-Module.

3. In Add VF Module, I chose base_vlb and created a VF Module with name
K-demoVLB-Module.
I did not do Add VF Module for dns_scaling.

4. I created a separate heat stack for packet_gen_vlb_rackspace of name
K-demoVLB-PackGen
 using Heat client.

5. When I do demo.sh appc K-demoVLB-Module, I got error Dictionary does
not contain key 'vpg_name_0'.

6. I tried to do demo.sh appc on
K-demoVLB-PackGen
as well. That time it gave error Dictionary does not contain key
'vpg_private_ip_1'.

In vLB use case, the mounting of traffic generator to enable policy driven
configuration changes (demo.sh appc) should be done on which VF-Module ? In my
example,
K-demoVLB-PackGen
 or K-demoVLB-Module ?

Re: [onap-discuss] Major updates to ONAP code

2017-05-02 Thread Lefevre, Catherine
Good morning/afternoon Munir,

I do not know if you are attending the ONAP summit organised by the Linux
Foundation this week.

We will present the ONAP release planning on Thursday but also the guidelines
that any contributor will need to follow as part of the contribution process,
starting in the coming days.

There is an expectation that any contributor will be linked their source code
submission to a Jira ticket (bug, user story, task etc), providing the
necessary information to ease the code review.

Best regards,
Catherine

With regards to the Policy file:

./policy/engine/packages/base/src/files/install/servers/console/bin/sql/log.h2.db

It is no longer needed and will be removed.

The angular.js is being used and will remain for the moment.

It only shows 26 projects in the dashboard. I wonder if those are all the
sonar projects we have now. Or they are only a subset.

I'm interested in the sdnc projects. Looks like they are not included.

[onap-discuss] Support ONAP on multiple OS/Openstacks?

2017-04-20 Thread Lefevre, Catherine
Good morning all,

I would like to start a new thread in order to understand if there is a need to
certify ONAP on multiple OS/Openstacks.

OS
Currently ONAP is running on Ubuntu 14.04 (target to move to Ubuntu 16.04).
Open-O is running on CentOS but I understand from Helen Yunxia (Huawei) that it
should not be an issue to run it on Ubuntu.
Redhat was not considered from a certification perspective due to license cost.

>From an architecture perspective, it is important that ONAP remains OS agnostic
The only constraint on the OS is that it should support an Openstack version

OpenStack
I have noticed that people are trying to deploy ONAP using different OpenStack
release series (i.e. Icehouse, Mitaka, Ocata, Kilo, etc)
Although I would like to recommend that we only focus on the release series
that are not EOL or will be soon EOL as an Openstack baseline for ONAP,
We should collect what has already been validated by the ONAP community and
what they agree to support

Any additional thoughts?

Best regards
Catherine

I'm trying to run the
https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/Tutorial%3A+Creating+a+Service+Instance+from+a+Design+Model
tutorial, but it is failing when trying to create the service instance because
MSO cannot find the customer ID in AAI. This tutorial ran successfully for me
last week, although I have completely reinstalled ONAP since then. I've tried
the test twice today, completely uninstalling and reinstalling ONAP between
tests and it now fails consistently with the same symptoms. I've gathered what
diagnostics I can and attached to this email.

Hi Marco,

Thanks for the reply. We passed DCAE issue. Right now, only MSO is failing
robot health test with 503 response code. When I tried to deploy vFW app from
VID portal, I got an error message saying ?MSO failure? and the detailed
message is ?Customer Global Id not found in (404) in AAI, Global Subscriber id:

Hello Yang,

Yes, the Heat templates in master and release-1.0.0 branches refer to the same
docker images, but please use release-1.0.0 as it is currently more stable.

Regardless, the docker images that are downloaded during the build process
belong to the release-1.0.0 branch. At this time, I?m not sure we have daily
results available, but it is something interesting to have in the near future.

Could you please let us know what errors you get from MSO and DCAE?

Thanks,

Hi Marco,

Thanks for reminding us the tag to download docker image. I notice that both
master and release-1.0.0 branches use the same docker-version
(1.0-STAGING-latest) in HEAT environment file openecomp_rackspace.env. However,
the two branches source code are different. From which branch is
1.0-STAGING-latest docker image built? Can we see daily test results somewhere
before we pick up the build? I installed last couple days builds on Rackspace,
both failed on MSO and DCAE robot health tests.

nexus3.onap.org:10001 is a proxy to the LF hosted repositories, so it should
work, and indeed it worked for me:

docker login ?u docker ?p docker nexus3.onap.org:10001
docker pull nexus3.onap.org:10001/openecomp/mso:1.0-STAGING-latest

Please, remember to use the 1.0-STAGING-latest tag to download the docker image

Hi Brian,

The model loader issue was on the A side. Despite the 503 error message in
MSO, all the containers are up and running. Unfortunately, rebooting the
VM/containers didn?t help so far.

We?ll have MSO team investigate.

Did you try restarting the MSO containers ?

I think I remember a problem in release 1.0 that if SDC is slow in coming up
the model loader in MSO takes an error path.

BTW Healthcheck needs to pass before doing instantiation tests. We always run
healthcheck before starting testing.

Hope this helps.

Good morning Alexis,

It is indeed not really required to have an environment file when we initialize
the container with Chef, the default attributes should be enough.
Nevertheless the first environment was created to provide the default values of
the config, and also as a template that could be reused to create some
docker-config repo
(Initially the docker-config was not present).
Having said that, we can only have one environment file provided at the
container startup, and therefore only one file to update when we need to change
the mso-config cookbook. This requires a small rework of the chef
initialization and also of the chef-solo command we use at runtime.
We could consider this as a future improvement.

Although I?m not sure to understand why it is necessary to initialize the

Greetings folks,

Since the code base and Jenkins was finally opened up on Monday I've worked
through the job templates and as of 14:12 PT today all jobs should now be
properly shipping their logs to https://logs.onap.org This also means that the
comments from Jenkins to Gerrit as to where the logs are should now be working
(for any job that completes after the update)

When possible, please use those logs as opposed reviewing logs in Jenkins. We
request this as it offloads traffic from Jenkins and therefore speeds up access
for everyone.

[onap-discuss] mso-docker.json is duplicated

2017-04-05 Thread Lefevre, Catherine
Good morning Alexis,

Please find some additional information related to your latest message
https://lists.onap.org/pipermail/onap-discuss/2017-April/11.html

In the chef-repo, the environment file is used during the chef initialization
when creating the docker images (used during the maven build)
While the docker-config json file is used to overwrite the config before the
startup of the containers.

Let us know if it clarifies the usage of "chef-repo.git" and
"docker-config.git".

Best regards
Catherine
