You may need to download some of the font packages from the nearest repository to get additional options in OpenBSD. Here's a partial list from the Boulder mirror: amigafonts-1.0.tgz cantarell-fonts-0.0.24.tgz dina-fonts-2.92p1.tgz ecoliercourt-fonts-0.1p2.tgz fontforge-20120731p0.tgz freefont-ttf-20100919p1.tgz ghostscript-fonts-8.11p3.tgz hack-fonts-2.019.tgz hermit-font-1.21p1.tgz inconsolata-font-0.1p2.tgz linuxlibertine-fonts-otf-5.3.0p0.tgz powerline-fonts-0.20151211.tgz roboto-fonts-1.2p2v0.tgz ubuntu-fonts-0.83.tgz Jay > Original Message > Subject: Re: system default fonts > From: Michael > Date: Tue, February 21, 2017 2:09 pm > To: openbsd-newbies@sfobug.theapt.org > > > * Maurice McCarthy [2017-02-21 14:11:23 +]: > > > Found some links that may or may not be of help > > > > http://docs.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-settings/appearance > > https://wiki.xfce.org/tips > > https://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/SetFonts > > > > Moss > > Thanks all for your help. I do appreciate it, and your reading your help made me realize I forgot to add some info that I intended, but forgot. I've used different DE's and window managers and the fonts/sizes are the same. It's not related to xfce4, nor is it just with Emacs :) I've also gone through all the xfce4 settings and made sure that settings are exact on the different systems. That includes video drivers and resolution. All settings are exact on all systems (except Windows 10 which I don't really use). I also installed Debian to compare, and it looks exactly same as OpenBSD. That leads me to believe that maybe Slackware has adjusted the fonts and sizes that they use. Since Debian and OpenBSD look the same, and Slackware is different, and the one with the look that I prefer, I'll also ask on their help sites. Again, thanks, and I apologize for not adding the information about other window managers and DE's. As you may know console fonts are discussed in faq7. https://www.openbsd.org/faq/faq7.html But your question concerns fonts running under X fonts. So either it is an Xfce problem or must it must be Xenocara defaults. I've never run xfce so I cannot help there. Xenocara are not configured in /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc and I put mine in $HOME/.Xdefaults adding ported font paths in $HOME/.xinitrc as I reinstall (rather than upgrade) on each Stable release. Try running $ pkg_info -L xfce And see if you can find a file for fontconfiguration. That's all I can suggest Good Luck Moss ___ Openbsd-newbies mailing list Openbsd-newbies@sfobug.theapt.org http://mailman.theapt.org/listinfo/openbsd-newbies
system default fonts
Where can I read the system font configuration file? I am trying to see what font and size is used in different systems for terminal login and X screens. I have Slackware and OpenBSD installed on this laptop (along with Windows 10). I took two screenshots to show comparison and to give better idea of what I'm trying to ask :) First is on OpenBSD: http://tinypic.com/r/r2n7fq/9 Second on Slackware: http://tinypic.com/r/wvs6ro/9 I prefer the Slackware font/size. I am asking because the terminal fonts are a bit different also, so I'm assuming it's not a X issue. Maybe I am wrong? Thanks.
