Is the K100D "clunk" lowered pitched than the istD

I think the "manipulated" image is interesting.
Many artists use the photograph for the raw material.

I prefer the "out of the camera" image and the wisps

Honestly, I can't say anything brutal about this.
I think the shapes, tones, and textures are nicely

Ummm,

The one I just bought from Joe must be the -K version.
My LX came with the SMC Pentax-A 50/1.4 lens. Way

Re: istDS and istD shutter release sound?

2006-03-30 Thread John Bailey
Rick and Lucas,

Thanks for the replies. I noticed that in the reviews
that the istD did not sound the same. And that the
tests were done in a very empty sounding room. (a lab
maybe?) The review tests are really frame rate tests
against the "std" C/N cameras. I agree that my film
slrs are louder probably because the mirror is bigger.
My istDS has a high pitched sound that I really
notice, but then, it's up in front of my face!

How well do the lenses perform on the sensor compared
to film as far as CA effects and/or pixel blooming? I
made some DS2 exposures with my 1.4x tx + 300/8
vivitar this last Saturday of herons nesting in
Sycamore trees in the Cuyahoga Vally National Park in
NE Ohio. The lcd review showed alot of purple along
the tree branches against the light blue sky. At home
on my monitor there wasn't as much. The files were
PEF, then viewed both with Irfanview and Pentax Photo
Lab. When converted to jpegs most of the purple is
gone except the thinnest branches are purple.

Chris,

It's not too hard at home using a film tank and 3
metal containers for the chems. The hardest part for
me was keeping the bath temp up and keeping from
tipping over the metal containers in the bath. (I
think it was around 100F). I did both 35mm and 120.
Then you have to hang dry the film is a dust free
place
after treatment to prevent water spotting.

But, since the LX meters off the film after the mirror
flips up the exposure will be correct if you use the
auto exposure mode. Just remember when using a linear

polarizer on the LX to use an aperture that doesn't
require the highest shutter speed. This does limit
the LX to be used an exact light meter for a non
metering camera.

Can anyone confirm this for me?

Re: MX

Larry,

Could be. When I bought a used MX I had to replace the original battery
(1 piece) with two button batteries.
Unfortunately, I put them in with +/- reversed and burned out the meter.

taking weeks for him to get the battery. Is the battery required for the MX
difficult to get (and could this be an ongoing problem), or should I be
wondering about this specific deal?
Larry
