Yes, this is what should be done, rather than updating individual
libraries.

What has to happen first is ghc 8.2 moved experimental->unstable.

Hi Philipp,

Quoting Philipp Huebner (2018-01-08 09:46:44)
> a quick question for the uploaders of pandoc:
> do you have any plans regarding the packaging of pandoc 2.0.X ?

Excellent question.

For starters, we will need updates for the following Haskell libraries:

  * texmath >= 0.10 && < 0.11
  * pandoc-types >= 1.17.3 && < 1.18
  * skylighting >= 0.5.1 && < 0.6
  * hslua >= 0.9.5 && < 0.10

...and these Haskell libraries now missing needs to be packaged:

  * hslua-module-text >= 0.1.2 && < 0.2
  * cmark-gfm >= 0.1.1 && < 0.2

I would appreciate if someone other than me in the team could package
those. Or tell me if problematic, then I can investiate if restrictions
in Pandoc can be relaxed via patches.

When above is done, I intend to package Pandoc 2.x targeted
experimental, and file bugreports against reverse dependencies to have
them tested for regressions.

then we can consider if possible to simply have the pandoc package
upgraded to 2.x or we need to introduce a new pandoc2 package (if that
is possible at all - I suspect the dependencies e.g. on pandoc-types may
diverge too much).

My dearest,

May the peace of the Lord be with you as you read this letter. I know it will
definitely come to you as a surprise, but I implore you to take the time to go
through it carefully. My name is Christy Walton and I am an American Citizen, I
am widow and a business woman. I have recently been diagnosed with esophageal
cancer and a rare heart disease which has defiled all medical treatment. Expert
diagnosis has shown that I have few days to live. I am worth $41.7 (Billion US
Dollars) which I inherited from my late husband Mr. John T. Walton which rates
me as the First richest woman in the world.

The intention of this email is to employ the expertise of a Charity minded
individual, who can identify a viable and guarantee reasonable distribution of
my wealth to the needy. I cannot rely on family and closest relatives anymore,
as they did not show responsible behavior when I entrusted part of my wealth to
them to distribute to charitable organizations but instead they used the money
for their personal needs.

To prevent any more mishaps, my attorney will act as a check, monitoring every
aspect of the Charity. My will is with my Lawyer which my family is fully aware
about, but there is 5% of my Bank worth which is $2.85 (Billion US Dollars)
which nobody is aware of except my attorney.

Do get back to me as soon as you receive this e-mail for further details.
Please endeavor to keep this confidential. I await your response.

God bless you.

All of that is correct. Still I don't see that as a good solution for
several reasons:

 * After doing so, every package that uses haskell-devscripts-minimal
(or haskell-devscripts) will have to annotate its build dependency
with :native. There are lots of reverse dependencies. I am still
hoping for a way that causes less churn in the archive.

 * The obvious alternative is to just mark it Multi-Arch: foreign. This
is not a new idea indeed #769377. Unfortunately it is wrong, because
the tools in there are architecture-dependent (via exposing ghc
stuff). From what I learned with pkg-config, cmake and others, I
guess we'll mark it M-A:foreign anyway and document how to avoid
issues with architecture-awareness, but this certainly needs more
   work.

 * We'll likely need ghc-for-build and ghc-for-host for a proper
solution. Since ghc depends on gcc, we also need gcc-for-build and
gcc-for-host. The latter was blocked by waiting for
binutils-for-build and binutils-for-host until very recently. Making
that work for gcc will be a little more work. Any volunteers? ;)

I was discussing this issue at DebConf and I had the idea to try changing the
dependency of haskell-devscripts-minimal on GHC from "ghc" to "ghc:native",
but, unfortunately, dpkg doesn't support these qualifiers in the Depends field.

I believe is this because haskell-devscripts-minimal is arch:all, so any
architecture information does not propagate through. If my understanding is
correct, making haskell-devscripts-minimal an arch:any package and using a
:native Build-Depends on haskell-devscripts-minimal would fix this, but I'm

Hmmm... the gcc packages involved (gcc 4.9.2-4 and gcc-5 5.2.1-23) are
definitely newer than Jessie -- I would think that means they're "technically"
Stretch, but I'm not too clear on debian policies.

Well, I don't think it's much effort, and I'm (still) volunteering to
contribute most of the effort.
I'm not sure waiting until more people have a problem with this is the way to
go. And of course, not everyone who has a problem will complain (or will

I mean, that the flag has been added by gcc, and a lot of programs in the
archive are supplying it to the build, with a backward incompatible
change.

e.g. you can think about all the -dkms packages, because pie is something that
the kernel can't use.

So, instead of patching every single control file of a tool using no-pie, I
would suggest to patch gcc if there still are supported configurations
without the -f-no-pie switch.
(I mean, implement that switch and do nothing when used)

>When you say "fix the whole archive" what do you mean?

the above :)

updating control file, adding version constraints with versions not in the
archive anymore is kind of useless, speaking about Buster we won't have such
gcc versions anymore since at least two stable releases.
>Last question:

I'm not sure I understand this response.
When you say "gcc-specific", are you saying that the Debian Haskell package
supports compilers other than gcc? It appears to me that it specifically
requires gcc.

When you say "fix the whole archive" what do you mean?
I suggest only a update to the "debian/control" file to prevent/discourage
users from trying to use ghc with older, unsupported compilers.

*Really I do not know how best to begin. I am afraid, Not because of I am

you are and what would be your reaction if I open up to you. My plea
therefore is that you take me as one who trusts you and help me keep this
matter between you and I only, whether you want to do business with me or
not.*

*Where I work, there are so many opportunities for making large money
without stress. All that is required is having a trusted partner and
confidant from outside my country who can maintain some degree of secrecy
and who has a high degree of business acumen to harness the funds that I
shall place in his/her custody. I guess your company could be a better plan
for this arrangement.*

*For instance, I have the capacity to move the sum of (Euro 9,800,000.00)
to your account in any part of the world provided you and I agree on
equitable sharing formula between both of us on successful transfer of the
funds to your account. I need your co-operation to the extent that you
assume the position of a contractor who executed a certain contract

RE: HELLO

2017-05-12 Thread Miller Patricia

Good day,

My Name is B. Raymond Buxton, April 2014 was a remarkable day in my life as i
won the Power Ball Jackpot of $425 Million . But as a devoted man, my heart
still remains the same. At my age what more can i want out of life than to
spend the rest in peace, but such peace can only be achieved from God by trying
to put smiles on the faces of people. When you receive a word of appreciation
from someone you have touched and affected positively, your life is elated and
that much desired inner peace is achieved, when you see an hungry and naked
child and you clothe and feed the child and he/she smiles, that smile is an
achievement that is worth more than the World. In my quest to change lives, I
founded the Liberty Charity Foundation and the Liberty Trust which is solely
for changing the lives of people all over the world as i currently only have
the financial means to do this. We have embarked in hundreds of projects small
and medium scale all over the world trying to contribute our quota to human
development both physically and spiritually. We founded the Personal donation
scheme which we call Sharing-the-responsibility. We give out various cash
donation every month to Ten "Lucky" individuals selected randomly by a ballot
system approved various Organizations ( Religious, Executive, Internet
Inclusive) processed by the Liberty Team after much consultation. Due to the
tax issues here in the United States and after much consultation, we have
relocated the Liberty Foundation to Europe where the press do not bother that
much and the banking and government taxation system is quite friendly.

On behalf of the Liberty Foundation, you have been approved for a donation of
the sum of $750,000 US Dollars. This may definitely go a long way in changing
your life as this winning has done in just a few days to me. Do know that this
is not given to you alone, but with a responsibility of investing in the lives
of people in your community. I would love to touch the world, but i as a single
person can not do this, but with you, i am sure the responsibility is shared.
Off course investing in yourself is also important. Do send me your details ,
Full Names, Address, Occupation and Phone number immediately so the Liberty
Legal team can prepare the needed fund release letter.

More investigation!

After doing what I said above, xcb-types and xcffib build but the xcffib
testsuite fails[1]. It seems that xcb-proto 1.12 now uses the "switch"
element in a few places it didn't before and xcffib wasn't handling that
properly. There are a lot of commits in 0.5.0 which try to fix this - if
I use upstream xcffib it works.

It looks like the xcffib dependency from cairocffi is optional, so this
would be a much easier solution. Otherwise we have to backport tons of
stuff or use upstream 0.5.1.

It would be best to switch ghc-mod-el to use dh-elpa. Then the
pkg-emacsen team can fix this sort of thing across all packages.

Yes, if you don't want to maintain this, please orphan the package. It'd be good
to have it maintained by pkg-javascript though.

Indeed, hoogle now depends on libjs-chosen (since upstream ships an
embedded copy of it). I failed to notice the above RC bug, or else I
would have discussed this earlier.

The hoogle package is maintained by the Debian Haskell Group. I don't
think libjs-chosen would be a good fit for the Team. Please consider
closing the above bug report (so that hoogle can migrate to testing)
and orphan the package.
