The utility that comes with Pro Tools may be available on their web site
someplace, it is called DigiTest and in Pro Tools, it returns a graphic
description of what cards are in which slot(s) and if they are functioning
properly. You need to have the right inits, and other software for it to
work properly, I know that it would have worked with Sound Designer or the
old Sound Tools way back when. I bet if you log in to the Digi User's
Conference you will get the answer and probably some guidance.

Hi, thanks for that, I'll try those.

As an aside, is there a utility out there that can display a list of
attached NuBus cards? I don't know if the bus design actually allows
it (eg PCI does, but many older architectures don't).

TattleTech ought to do that quite nicely.

Another place to look is at the digi website, on the DUC - Digi User's
Conference. There is a buy and sell board on there.

Again, I would look at the daw-mac. Often, the people on that list put
equipment up for sale on that forum before placing it elsewhere (with
permission of the administrator - they are pretty mindful of
unauthorized shills). I have not seen anything for a week or two, but
inevitably, there will be someone selling something of interest, and
usually at a reasonable rate. More important, it will be equipment
that is still in workable order and with the proper software.

Don't get into any discussions of PC's, though; it is STRICTLY for macs
as in daw-MAC.

Other than eBay, no.

Which means if anyone *does* know of a source, I'm interested too, because eBay
hasn't been too fruitful of late...

Try the daw-mac list on Yahoo, the best people are there, and although
it is not exclusively a DigiDesign forum, there are a lot of people
there who are or were recently still in the land of Nubussia. Also,
you can go to the digi site and get on the DUC - digi users conference
at no charge and look at the logs and get some ideas. I know there is
a digi test for the Pro Tools stuff, and I think it or a similar
version is available for the AudioMedia cards, too.

just an idea but could it be that the card isnt accessable like the normal
system sound is and (being its a high quality digidesign card not a standard
system card that happens to have a mic in or something) is only available to
protools or possibly other apps that have the same purpose however I would
expect protools to be the best choice (as far as I know most digidesign
hardware is only designed for their own software)
