All my bug reports have been acknowledged ?

You write a bug report then post a tread in forum linking to the bug,
then it can be confirmed either by some power users on the forum or by
popular vote.
Then after a while it gets looked at by some dev, then it gets solved
the same day or 6 years later ;) .
If you post a tread with a link to the bug, you can bet that a couple
of other users with similar problems chime in and post there logs or
problem files etc, making it very likely to get attention.

There is also support, you can have a support case logged .

Btw write good detailed reports that *includes a way to reproduce the
bug* including log files when it happens , if nobody knows how or what
happened and it can not be confirmed by otherers, it's quite possible
it can hang out there in some limbo forever.
It must be possible to reproduce for others otherwise there is nothing
to fault trace , then it often gets an an "works for me" conclusion,
this can be a hint that it is not really a bug but probably something
with ones own install, if it works for everybody else but not you (it
can still be a bug,but how to proceed in such a case) .

Try to avoid duplicates , search bugzilla and add to existing popular
cases.
Search in bugzilla can be a bit hopeless ,as I and some other non pro's
users our own layman terms trying to describe things and are not native
English speakers so it is not always obvious what a similar or
duplicate issue is. Add the bug anyway somebody else will see if is a
duplicate and merge it with something else.

A large quantity of bugs are really support cases, I can quite easily
see cases where users gets the usual AV software scanner issues and
thinks it's a bug (it is but not in squeezeboxserver ).

There is an official site to use to report bugs. You can enter the
detail of your problem, and even attach logs. You will never get an
official answer there either, nor will your bug report be acknowledged.
But at least you can say that you "officially" reported the bug ;)

Alarms do work to some extent. Most mornings the radio will wake you
up. On a rare few mornings, you will get extra sleep, which is good for
you.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] I've got a great idea for the radio......

2010-06-14 Thread andynormancx

If you click through to try and order it on the US site it says "in
stock", even though the product page says "pre-order". The EU site
shows it in stock on both pages. But then in the past the EU site has
said "pre-order" on both pages when it was clearly in stock and being
shipped.

So who knows whether it is in stock or not...

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] New firmware update today

2010-06-14 Thread szalik

I've been using 8837 for a week or two. I have to agree that there is an
improvement when using mysb.com.

Unfortunately, I still encounter two weird behaviors:
- the radio stops after playing 10-15 seconds of an internet radio,
then turns itself into standby mode and comes back after another 10-30
seconds but staying in an erroneous mode - i.e. there's a 'playing'
icon in the corner but it is actually not playing and a stop->play
sequence has to be forced to make it play the same station again (still
bug 16170?),

- sometimes after turning the radio off into standby mode, it turns
itself on after about 10 seconds.

[SlimDevices: Radio] I've got a great idea for the radio......

2010-06-14 Thread Howard Passman

it would be great if it came with a battery pack and you could take
it outside without an extension cord. They could even sell it as an
accessory.

Yeah, I know they say they do, but so far they don't. I'm betting that
the Radio will be EOL before they have the battery packs.

Even the battery pack kits are out of stock.

The radio received a new firmware update this afternoon. So far,
everything seems to be working well and the sound has not cut out one

Then you're either lucky, easy to satisfy or don't really use the alarm
every day. Still doesn't change a thing. The Radio's software is crappy
design implemented by laymen. In the last 8 months, the only thing that
was really improved was the minimum dimming level. Come on, 8 months and
still the most basic things don't work or a done in the dumbest possible
way.
