Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] synch problems with the SB Radio?

2010-03-07 Thread aberjona

So seek and ye shall find. I read the post below in another forum,
experimented with a wireless range expander near the SBR, and that
resolved all sync problems, in all cases.

I've replaced the Boom with the Radio, in the same exact location, and
then the problems started. It seems to have random problems with my WIFI
connection (can't find the net, can't connect, connecting screen stays
forever, after connection signal is reported good but then the unit is
very slow and audio stutters, lots of buffering). Authentication is
correct, it is just signal strength that gives problems.

So, out of frustration, I've decided to move my WIFI router nearer to
the Radio. It's just a temporary solution, but all problems
 disappeared.

I honestly think that it is not a software issue. Perhaps they decided
to change the wifi chip in the unit, or simply the internal antenna
placement is not as good as Boom's but the result is that WIFI is too
 picky on signal strength.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] synch problems with the SB Radio?

2010-03-06 Thread aberjona

This plugin helped resolve some (but not all) of the sync issues I
experienced after adding the SB Radio to my network (a
Controller/Receiver and a Boom), which had previously been solid,
sync-wise.

http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SyncOptions.html

I flip often between SqueezeCenter and mysqueezebox.com; this plugin is
only for SC, so when I use mysqueezebox.com, some sync problems persist,
exclusively with streamed radio stations (WNYC, KCRW). The players start
off in-sync, but if I pause the playback with any device
(Controller/Boom/Radio) and hit play again, all three players go out of
sync, and cannot find any agreement either on their own, or after
powering on/off the individual players.

Services like Pandora work fine in both environments.

Can anyone offer advice for resolving the radio station sync issue?

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] synch problems with the SB Radio?

2010-02-13 Thread Mezzaluna

I just upgraded to 7.4.2 and I'm still having this problem: the SB radio
often (but not always) won't play certain programs while my other two
SBv3s in the same synch group function fine.

I've done a little more experimenting: this happens very frequently
with the WMA stream at

http://opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?id=s27111formats=aac,mp3,wma,wmpro,wmvoice,wmvideo,oggpartnerId=16

The specific symptom: that program plays a canned intro (fundraising
appeal, if you're wondering) and then switches to the live stream. More
often than not, at the transition, the live stream doesn't play on the
SBR but plays on the SBv3s. From the display, the SBR seems to be
playing, but no sound comes out!

As I say, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Other WMA feeds
work. I also notice that the canned intro sound quality is degraded: I
hear skips almost every time.

Known problem? Any suggestions?

Related question: how do I submit a bug report? I didn't find a link
on the support page.

Ah, I see it now. Thanks.

[SlimDevices: Radio] synch problems with the SB Radio?

2010-02-06 Thread Mezzaluna

I've had a SB radio for a couple of weeks, and it is flakey when I try
to synchronize it with the two older SBs (squeezebox3). RIght now it
appears synched but plays no audio; other times attempting to synch has
disrupted the audio from all the others. Known problem? Anything I
should try?

One detail: the radio is on wireless while the other two are directly
wired into a hub shared with my server. I tried changing the
Synchronized Players Startup Delay (ms) to 250 but, as I say, right
now I've got no audio coming from the radio.

All this on Version: 7.4.1 - r28947

Question: Are they all on the same server (SBS or Msb.com)? Just a wild
stab.

yes, all on the same server, all on the same IP subnet/broadcast
domain, but one on a wireless hub and the other two on the same wired
hub as the server.

Sometimes the audio will stop when initializing Sync, but then they
should all Sync and play fine.
What are you trying to Sync? Local music on your computer? Internet
Radio? Music Services?
Unless the one player on WiFi is getting a bad/poor signal it should
not matter for Syncing.
Maybe try it wired temporarily to see if that resolves the issue?

Could be a distinct Sync issue, hard to tell. I'd still try it wired
just to eliminate possible WiFi issues.
I Sync three players without issue, Radio (WiFi), Boom (WiFi), SB3
(wired) so I know the Radio is capable of it.
