[RBW] FS - 64cm Atlantis

2014-01-30 Thread Tony DeFilippo
With a pending purchase of a 60cm Saluki I need to sell off this gorgeous
yet slightly too big for me Atlantis. Is this the Atlantis you've been
waiting for?!?

A Toyo built (#678) frame that Keven at Riv told me is probably from
2003-2004 timeframe. I am the second owner and it was reportedly bought in
the DC area from a local distributor. Overall the frame is in good shape
for its age, there are chainsuck scars on the drive side chainstay, hard to
see with the crankset installed (email for pictures). I'll shoot some
details of any blemishes I can find over the weekend, bottom line is it's a
bike thats been used but still show's great. Random stories and images on
my blog; http://dr2dc.blogspot.com/search/label/Rivendell%20Atlantis

I'll get a proper gallery up by Saturday.

*$2,100 As described below*

Alexandria VA/ DC Metro Area preferred, but willing to ship (buyer pays
actual shipping). Willing to part out or sell frame only, make an offer.

700C Wheelset (handbuilt by me, ~750ish miles):

Front, Shimano DH-3N72 Dyno (Generator) 36h Hub, Velocity Dyad, Double
butted spokes
Rear, Shimano XT T780 36h Hub, Velocity Dyad, Double butted spokes

Cockpit (your choice of one):

Albatross w/ SR Stem, Shimano MTB Brake levers, Shimano 8/9 speed bar-ends

Noodles 46(maybe 44), Shimano Aero Levers, Shimano 8/9 speed bar-ends

*I can wrap either in inner tubes and if requested do a cotton tape job as
well

Crankset (your choice of one):

Sugino Triple (not pictured)

TA Specialities Zephyr with lockring and TA Axix BB (needs bearing
replacement) (+$100 over price above)

*Shimano UN55 sealed bottom bracket, <100miles

Pedals:

Grip King/MKS Lamba

Seatpost/Saddle:

SR Seatpost

No Saddle (I can dig something up if necessary)

Drive Train:

Front Derailleur – Suntour ARX

Rear Derailleur – Shimano XT M771 9 Spd

Chain – Shimano SLX HG73 9 Spd (~750 miles)

Tires: (both included)

2x Kenda Small Block Eight 700Cx54 (2.1") Tires (these things rock!)

2x Nomad Resist 700cx45 (42 measured)

2 sets of ultra light q tubes

1 spare 700C q tube (maybe 2 spares, I need to check)

Accessories:

SKS Chromoplast (silver with black stripe) Fenders (not longboards)

Incredibell

B&M Cyo Premium (brand new - +$70 over price above)

Nitto M12 and Wald basket (+$100... I'd rather keep these)

*

10 Speed Option - +75 over price above (I'd keep the 9 speed stuff)

5600 Shimano 105 left and right STI shifter

Front Derailleur

Rear Derailleur (mid cage)

10 speed Tiagra 12-30 cassette

10 speed 105 5701 Chain

[RBW] FS: 64cm Atlantis

2012-10-08 Thread rudi
I'm selling my 64cm Atlantis, serial #AT-0141. Frame, fork, headset only.
It's an early one, and I've gotten lots of good riding out of it. About a
year ago, the rear dropout broke, and the good folks at Riv took it in and
repaired it and repainted it the original Atlantis color. We added a
kickstand plate, but I wish we'd added fork eyelets. While the frame was
being repaired I got myself an AHH, and that has become my main ride. I
never built the Atlantis back up, so it is in like new condition, ready for
your build.

Asking $1,200. I'd prefer to sell it to someone local, in the Bay Area as I
had a slight snag with the last time I shipped. But if the Bay Area is
saturated with 64cm Atlantis-es, then I'll have it professionally boxed and
shipped at cost. Please send me a message off list if interested.

Here are
some pics.

[RBW] FS: 64cm Atlantis Frame

2010-08-22 Thread Dave Craig
I did some soul searching about this one. The Atlantis was my first
really nice bike. It's the bike that reintroduced me to the joy of
riding. It's also the bike that I've used as a platform to learn about
bike fit and component selections for comfortable riding/touring -
knowledge that I've iused for my own and many other's benefit. Now,
after experimenting with several other bikes, it's also the bike that
I've decided to let go of in order to reorganize and streamline my
bike possessions. I've got two other bikes that serve the same
purposes as the Atlantis did originally - fat tire versatility and
touring (a 26-inch wheel,Surly LHT and a Bombadil). I'm now looking to
purchase a Hilsen as a more sporty road machine that will fit me a bit
better than the Atlantis, which I bought slightly small to accomodate
standover with fatter tires. The Hilsen will also replace a slightly
small for me SOMA Smoothie ES (also 64cm) and a 62cm Surly Crosscheck
- both of which I'll also be selling soon.

Here's the deal: The frame is about 4 years old, with the typical
scratches and wear including some at the right chainstay where the
chain came off a couple of times. I've touched these up. I've never
crashed the bike and there are no dents. I'm selling the frame, fork
and ultegra headset along with IRD canti's, a Nitto Tech Deluxe stem
(9 or 10 cm - I forget), a Nitto big front rack, and a Nitto Jaguar
seatpost for $1500.00 - buyer pays shipping.

The buyer will need to send payment via Paypal. I will then pack the
bike in the same manner/materials/box that my Hilsen comes in from
RBW. I'm heading into a new academic year with limited discretionary
time, so it will take me about a week to two weeks to pack the bike
and ship it.

This is the perfect bike for a tall guy who'd like an Atlantis in
64cm. As you all probably know, the Atlantis is no longer offered in
64cm without special ordering it. It's also important to know that
this is the Atlantis without the kickstand plate or the extra braze
ons from later Riv's. I use a Clikstand and have used P-clamps on the
Nitto front rack while touring. It's a great bike.

Dave

Re: [RBW] FS - 64cm Atlantis

2014-01-30 Thread Tony DeFilippo
Peter,

Thanks! I was running the standard light mount to the fork crown till I
installed the Nitto canti front rack... so I took two of the handlebar
brackets that come clamped onto the wald baskets, straightened and
shortened them, drilled them, and mounted them to the front of the wald
basket. Here's a close up. I will say it does shake a bit more than when
it was mounted to the fork crown but at steady speeds it is pretty decent.

Tony

[RBW] FS: 64cm Atlantis, Complete Bike

2010-11-23 Thread mkrbec
For sale is my 64cm Rivendell Atlantis

I built this up as my fully-loaded touring dream bike, but sadly I am
just too big for it really need something a bit stouter (something
more like a Bombadil, or maybe a Hunq). I hope it will go to a good
home.

Many of the parts are new or nearly new. I bought the frame from a
member of the RBW group, who was the original owner. It is a Toyo
frame and in excellent shape with just some minor paint scrapes on the
chainstay. It has never been crashed and has been well taken care of
its entire life.

So the frame, fork, headset, seatpost and stem were all purchased
used, but in excellent condition.

64cm Toyo-built Rivendell Atlantis Frame

I have over $3500 in this bike, and am asking $2800, but am willing to

[RBW] FS: 64cm Atlantis frame, fork & headset

2010-04-06 Thread Swashbuckling Dandy
OK, I'd really rather not do this, but it's been a tough couple of
years and life goes on as they say. I have a 64cm Atlantis that I
bought back before they had kickstand plates, mid-fork eyelets or the
fancier lugs. If I can get $1500 for the frame, fork and Ultegra
headset then I can get some other things paid off. I bought the frame
new and built it up for loaded touring. I took it on a delightful
shakedown cruise one sunny afternoon, and since then it has just been
a really nice bike I take out now and then for short spins. It's never
been on anything resembling a tour, even an overnight trip to the next
town. The paint is in fine shape save a few of the inevitable chips
and scratches, but those are few and very minor. All in all, it's
probably about as close to new condition as you will find in a frame
that's been assembled and ridden a few hundred miles. I blasted it
with framesaver when I took it out of the box and I live on the edge
of the desert so rust is not an issue.

As noted in a recent thread here, the 64 is no longer available new.
If you are reading this then you most likely know what the bike is and
how to determine if it's the right size for you. Here is a link to the
geometry page:

http://www.cyclofiend.com/rbw/geometry.html

Most of the parts will likely end up on an old touring bike frame I
picked up a few years ago, but I could be persuaded to include the
cranks and bottom bracket, since that was one of the most time
consuming parts of the build. They are pretty nice Deore mountain bike
cranks from the early 90s with newer chainrings and a UN72 (XT grade)
bb carefully selected and spaced to optimize the chainline and center
the cranks on the frame. The cranks are 175s and the rings are
46-36-24.

Please contact me off list for details and my personal info. At the
moment, it's still a very lovely complete bike but I'll dismantle it
and pack it very well if someone buys the frame. There are several
reasons I would rather avoid that popular auction site, but I have a
top rating there and that's probably where this frame will end up if
no one here buys it. Or not. Hard to say. Packing is included;
shipping will be whatever it ends up being from Grand Junction,
Colorado.
