OK. I have finally been able to create a Perforce repository in
ReviewBoard. I used the public.perforce.com:1666 repository for
testing. This is the exact steps I followed:

 - Install BitNami ReviewBoard
 - Go to the Windows Start Menu -> BitNami ReviewBoard -> Register
BitNami Python in the Windows Registry.
 - Open the BitNami environment. Go to the Windows Start Menu ->
BitNami ReviewBoard -> Use BitNami
Reviewboard (this will open a windows command prompt).
 - Install p4python27.exe from the command line (it needs to be the
32 bit binary). I used [this version][1]. Only the API component is
necessary.

Now to check that the module is loaded correctly in the Python version
installed with BitNami:

 - Execute `python`
 - In the python console execute `import P4`

If you don't receive any error from the console, it means that the
module is installed correctly. You are receiving the error when
accessing reviewboard because when importing that module in the
application running with apache + mod_wsgi the msvcr90.dll is not
found. (The issue is similar to [this][2]).

In order to fix you need to have installed [vcredist 2008 x86][3] and
the mt.exe tool installed. mt.exe is included in the [Microsoft
Windows Software Development Kit][4] (only the windows development
tools component is required). Then execute the following:

mt.exe
-inputresource:c:\bitnami\reviewboard-1.7.11-0\python\bin\python.exe;#1
-out:pyd.manifest

mt.exe -manifest pyd.manifest
-outputresource:c:\bitnami\reviewboard-1.7.11-0\python\Lib\site-packages\P4API.pyd;#2

Restart apache and try to create a new Perforce repostiory.

I have also replied to you in the BitNami forums
(answers.bitnami.com). I hope this helps.

our side. Thanks again!

I'm glad that you like it. Regarding the python-ldap module, have you
tried to install this https://pypi.python.org/pypi/python-ldap/2.4.12
? What is the issue that you are finding with IE? Could it be related
to JavaScript not enalbed or something like that? If that is not the
case and it is shown correctly with Firefox and Chrome it seems to it
could be an issue with the ReviewBoard web interface and IE support...

My understanding is that the main problem was the different
configuration that the users may have which make it difficult to
support. "Windows has proven to be a considerable challenge to
support. It is easy to end up with a subtly broken setup, due to so
many different and incompatible implementations of Python and various
Python modules." I don't think currently there is a specific issue
with Mercurial as it has been supported for a long time in Review
Board. However I think that the Review Board team will be able to give
you a better answer for this.

Just a comment from BitNami. Even if Windows is not supported it would be
great you don't have any path hardcoded. Currently we allow to have
different installations in the systems in different installation paths,
installing as root as an not root user. Of course this is also possible
without using the BitNami installers. Having that hardcoded will affect
this flexibility. If those are necessary I would suggest to have default
values..but not hardcoded and not customizables values.

Regarding BitNami, the linux installer may also work for you if using
the native system packages is not a requirement. It bundles Apache,
Python and mod_wsgi and it will not use the (old) system packages.

Announce - BitNami Windows installer for ReviewBoard

2013-03-06 Thread victoria
Hi,

As I already mentioned in the list in BitNami we were working on a
Windows installer for Review Board. Well, we have just released it and
you can download it from

http://bitnami.org/stack/reviewboard

This version includes Python, Django, MySQL, Apache with mod_wsgi,
Git, Subversion and all the required dependencies.

As you already may know Review Board is not longer officially
supported on Windows. It is was difficult to install on Windows and
lot of incompatibilities with different Python versions or modules
made difficult to support. However we (in BitNami) still have people
asking if we planned to provide a windows installer of Review Board as
we already do for Linux. As we offer all-in-one installer which
includes all the required dependencies most of those incompatibility
issues should not appear. You still will want to use a Linux version
for a production environment but I'm sure that for lot of users will
find useful the Windows installer to give a try to ReviewBoard and
discover if it is the right solution for them. Also we will keep it
update so you can quickly test new versions when released. Please
notice that the the installation should be fully functional (although
not officially supported by the ReviewBoard team) and we will love to
hear from you if you find any issue so we can fix it.

Christian I also wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for the
support you provide to me for getting this done :)

Well I hope you all enjoy it!

Best regards,

Victoria.

ReviewBoard test servers in the cloud

2013-02-26 Thread victoria
Hi,

As you may already know, in BitNami we focus on making open source
packages (like ReviewBoard) easier to use by providing pre-configured
installers, virtual machines and Amazon/Azure cloud images. We are now
working on an experimental product to allow users to test the latest
version of ReviewBoard in the cloud, for free. We don't provide ssh
access and have limited it (for now) to just 10 server launches to
prevent abuse, but it should be an excellent tool for potential new
users to play with ReviewBoard before they decide to install it.

http://bitnami.org/launch/reviewboard

Please give it a try and let us know if you run into any issues or
have any suggestions for improvement.

Best regards,

Victoria.

Hi

I didn't get that error even if the bitnami environment is not loaded.
If you have the chance of try it and you reproduce it. Could you copy
the command that you executed and the output you get? In any case as
mentioned it may be just that bitnami environment was not loaded.

I'm glad that you got it working! :)

Why did you need to install libreadline5? And when do you get that
error? What are you executing? This is what I execute and works for
me:

sudo easy_install --prefix apps/reviewboard --script-dir
apps/reviewboard/bin --install-dir apps/reviewboard/lib -U ReviewBoard

Then if you execute the rb-site comand you will get the error below
(sorry I previously missed this step)

bitnami@xxx:~$ /opt/bitnami/apps/reviewboard/bin/rb-site upgrade
/opt/bitnami/apps/reviewboard/rb-sites/reviewboard
/opt/bitnami/python/bin/.python.bin: error while loading shared
libraries: libpython2.6.so.1.0: cannot open shared object file: No
such file or director

This is because rb-site is not loading the bitnami environment. If you
open the rb-site script you will see that it is pointing to
.python.bin.

You can:

Option A.-

Hi I'm from the BitNami team and it seem that I missed this message in
the list. Thanks for using BitNami! If you have any feedback good or
bad I will be glad to hear it! Suggestions accepted.

Hi,

With easy_install you should download ReviewBoard from the official
repository. I tested the steps on my side and with option -U
ReviewBoard it worked for me and found the the new version 1.6.6
(don't forget to use also the other options so it doesn't install the
new version in a different location).

For upgrading the BitNami installation you only need to take into
account the path in which ReviewBoard is installed. According to the
ReviewBoard official documentation the upgrade will involves two
steps:

1.- Upgrade ReviewBoard with easy_install. Load the BitNami
environment and execute:

easy_install --prefix apps/reviewboard --script-dir apps/reviewboard/
bin --install-dir apps/reviewboard/lib -U ReviewBoard

2.- Upgrade your sites. The default site is created in /opt/bitnami/
apps/reviewboard/rb-sites/reviewboard

/opt/bitnami/apps/reviewboard/bin/rb-site upgrade /opt/bitnami/apps/
reviewboard/rb-sites/reviewboard

In any case if as you mention you don't have any data yet, it may be
easier just launched a new instance.

Best regards,

Victoria.
