CS>Silver in newborn eyes
Is it still the protocol to put a silver compound in newborn baby's eyes? I was mildly surprised to hear my daughter has been offered this as an option from her midwife. I knew this was done for the possibility of syphilis caused blindness previously, but still, with the ability to test for these things? Is it a silver nitrate compound? They also offer a Vitamin K pill or tab - what is up with that? Wave - Brings words and photos together (easily) with PhotoMail - it's free and works with Yahoo! Mail.

CS>beck and braces question
Mike, I have 2 unrelated questions. First is if you are aware of any one's success with chronic latent lyme and the beck protocol? After years of searching this I have yet to find anyone. It hit my scalp muscle causing burning, fibrosis, edema, crunching from head to back coupled with circulatory and heart issues. Putting the machines on the head I'm told is risky. The 2nd question is what you decided on braces for your child. Nickel.aluminum, titanium, plastic? Pulling teeth for space, ceph and pan X-rays etc. I have 2 teens in need of work and would like to know what your consnensus was in your search. If you prefer to e-mail privately my adress is gmetrop...@aol.com

Re: CS>vertical ridges on fingernails
Hi Shirley, Since we are all genetically different, with varying lifestyles and belief systems so it would be hard for me to totally accept that finger nail ridges could be precisely, exclusively traced to one given cause, lack of or overabundance of any single, particular nutrient. Such things appear to me more a matter of "cascading" cause and effects that are relative to other complex bodily functions . For instance, if one is lacking in hydrochloric acid...it is usually the result of something else that is out of balance as well within the digestive system, so just adding HC, Zinc or lessening our stress/worry factors as individually remedies may not fix the problems entirely or permanently. We function as systemic beings with a complex physiology. If we are lacking in say, Zinc or HC, how and why does this occur. Other than just replacing the nutrient how do we become aware of improving and/or eliminating the causes and thus the deficiency. Shirley Reed wrote: I have read that these are caused by lack of hydrochloric acid in the stomach. I think it was in one of Jonathan Wright's books, but am not sure about that. Re: CS>vertical ridges on fingernails
I was taught that vertical ridges indicate that there is a problem that the mind is worried about. Each finger has a different expression of the mind. Spots on the fingers nails represent a worry that was so intense that calcium deposit is made on the appropriate finger. If you go to this website HTTP://WNW.nostrum.com/FAQ/admin.cg?read=1036 the topic is Fingernails - Diagnostic Tool. There are a lot of different opinions about the cause of the ridges and the cures. Re: CS>Fingernail Ridges
As a hobbist beekeeper I'd like to suggest that everyone consider following the very good suggestion to use alternatives and avoid the bee products. The honeybee populations have become so severely weakened by bad beekeeping methods, such as over-harvesting pollen, propolis, royal jelly, taking all their honey and giving them back refined sugar syrup--not to mention flawed methods of queen propagation. In fact we should all avoid buying honey from the large commercial bee-yard companies who are the worst violators and search out locally made. Consider paying a little more and encourage local bee-keeping in your area. There's a reason the honeybees have become so susceptible to every disease and predator that comes down the pike. Re: CS>Fingernail Ridges
Thanks Edith. This is interesting. Because of this topic I've taken a really close look at my nails and note that two of my fingers, at the base near the half moon in the nail I have ridges that are just beginning to form. They are the two ring fingers on each hand. Other nails are not affected, except for the white spots which I know are from not ingesting enough Zinc whose importance, simple as it may seem is as follows, quite complex and cannot be underestimated are it is immune function related. It's also probably my lack of Zinc that I have not been able to fully shake the lingering effects of a flu/chest cold I caught about 2 months ago. The white spots have been forming since then. I do not eat with regularity enough foods from the groups high in Zinc as I avoid food groups with Tails. BTW, one of the symptoms of hair loss (in woman - sorry guys - nothing to do with male pattern baldness) is also a lack of Zinc. I tend to think that people because of other problems like high cholesterol, diabetes, and digestive problems. tend to avoid these food groups also. What is also interesting (at least to me) is that in Chinese Medicine, the ring fingers represent the San Jao, also known as the Triple Burner and are associated with digestive processes. For me, it makes sense. One of the main reasons I do not eat meats (even though I buy hormone free, organic grain fed for my son) is that I have difficulty digesting them . In your case, it took 4 years from the first appearance of the ridges for the symptoms/problems to progress and manifest and from your post, seem to point to digestive problems...and the Triple Burners. http://www.aaaom.org/HPCANDIDIASIS.htm Zinc: Whatis it? Zinc is an essential mineral that is foundin almost every cell. It stimulates the activity of approximately 100 enzymes, which are substances that promote biochemical reactions in your body (1,2).Zinc supports a healthy immune system (3,4), is needed for wound healing (5),helps maintain your sense of taste and smell (6), and is needed for DNA synthesis(2). Zinc also supports normal growth and development during pregnancy, childhood, and adolescence (7, 8). What foods provide zinc? Zinc is found in a wide variety of foods (2).Oysters contain more zinc per serving than any other food, but red meat andpoultry provide the majority of zinc in the American diet. Other good food sourcesinclude beans, nuts, certain seafood, whole grains, fortified breakfast cereals, and dairy products (2,9). Zinc absorption is greater from a diet high in animal protein than a diet rich in plant proteins (2). Phytates, which are found in whole grain breads, cereals, legumes and other products, can decrease zinc absorption(2, 10, 11).(Refer to Table 1: Selected Food Sources of Zinc lists a varietyof dietary sources of zinc.) . ejohns9...@aol.com wrote: In a message dated 2/18/06 9:50:58 PM Central Standard Time, saffiresk...@yahoo.com writes: Edith, If you don't mind my asking. Re: CS>Fingernail Ridges
Hi Sol, Try Zinc supplements for the white bands and dry brittle nails. Over the years, I've had that happen, matter of fact, at the moment I have white spots in three of my nails. Foods rich in Zinc, which include those with a Tail, are not things I consume regularily, so I must supplement and not surprised when I get the spots. When I do supplement and start eating more beef, beans, etc they disappear. Amazing how the lack of just one nutrient can upset the bodys balanceand how the body will give us a visual clue. As to the ridges.. sol wrote: One of my nutrition books says thin, dry, brittle nails or white bands in the nails can be due to protein deficiency. Lack of B vitamins can cause fragile nails with horizontal or vertical ridges. Prescription for Nutritional Healing says irom deficiency can also cause vertical ridges. Zinc deficiency can cause white spots. And there is a lot more info around on nutrition and nails. I also have fairly definite vertical ridges in my nails. Mine probably from insufficient B vitamins, as I can't seem to find a brand/type that doesn't give me a reaction. And niacin causes me very bad flushing, which alsocan kick in my eczema. Even the "no-flush" types of niacin do this. So I guess I'm stuck with the ridges. It does seem like worsening of the ridges might mean a worsening deficiency? I used to have white spots in my nails, too, but I've been taking my minerals much more regularly for some time now, and those are now gone. I hadn't actually noticed until I was writing this. sol Pat wrote: > Does anyone know about a cause for vertical ridges in the > fingernails?
