Delete will flag the message/folder as deleted in the source folder/folder list. (i.e. they will not be visible), and copy the contents to trash. Shift+Delete will flag the message/folder but will NOT copy the contents to trash. So until you have compressed, or deleted the trash and compressed the folders, you can edit the raw data files to recover the messages, and folders. Is there an option I can set to return to the old way, or do I just have to be perfect? Did you set your Trash folder's Properties to 'delete after' a certain time period? Not especially. When I right-click and choose Properties, everything's grayed out because the box "Use my account settings" is checked. The only thing I see there is "Empty trash on exit," which is enabled. Then do your account settings set any time period for flushing? Asked and answered. No. Anyway, if I delete a folder, it shouldn't be purged from Trash instantly even if I do use the setting you have in mind. It should be visible there until that time has elapsed. (It's still there until you compact the Trash folder; you just can't see it unless you edit the raw file - not for the inexperienced.) So you're saying there /has/ been a change. No, I didn't say anything about a change. Folder properties, and the time limit, have been around for a long time. Check your account settings under "Disk Space". You said it by implication. In older versions of SeaMonkey, if I deleted an individual message, that meant moving it to Trash, and I could see it there and move it back, and the treatment of whole folders was exactly analogous: I could see the whole folder sitting there in the Trash and pull it back out. This is no longer true -- if I delete a folder, it doesn't show up in the Trash. It just vanishes. Check your account settings under "Disk Space". Regarding 'edit raw file', you're probably aware that Mozilla mailboxes (folders) are simple text files. In a pinch, old content can be found via a text editor (when the client is not open). I wouldn't try that with whole folders, though! -- -bts -This space for rent, but the price is high ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey
