I wonder how many other gems there are to be discovered in this excellent but undocumented program. I really wish Ritlabs would put some time into creating a manual that we could download. Even where something is in the help file, finding things in a Windows help file can be a really tedious and hit or miss task. If they provided a manual, they'd likely sell a lot more copies -- and get fewer requests for support. Most people won't be willing or have the time to follow a discussion list like this just to be able to use the program. \/\/ayne Current version is 2.11.02 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

I too like to indent paragraphs. I discovered that ctrl-I works to create a tab character for indents. Not exactly a TB feature, it just inserts an ASCII 9 which is the tab character. \/\/ayne Current version is 2.11.02 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

It's not a big deal to me and I certainly don't want to fight about it. I just want to comment. I think it depends on what you're doing. If I'm responding to several specific points in a message I'd want to do as this list requires -- quote each point and respond underneath. On the other hand, if I'm responding to the general idea in a message, I'd normally top post. In this case I view the quoted text as there for reference in case the recipient has forgotten the flow of the discussion. If it weren't for the rules here, I would have top quoted this message. In the latter case, it very much annoys me to have to scroll down past the quoted text to read the response. One especially annoying example was a message in this list that I just read. I had to scroll down below quoted text only to find a "thank you for your help". I think something like this should always be top quoted. As for flow of the conversation, you get that by following the thread. I don't see the need to repeat that flow at the top of each reply -- unless you're responding to very specific points. That's my 2 cents worth. (I also like new messages at the top of my mailboxes -- so I don't have to scroll to the bottom to find them.) -- Wayne King Current version is 2.10.03 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Actually, I'd be happy to use the pay version and give the authors something for their efforts but I dislike the interface of the pay version. -- Wayne King Current version is 2.10.03 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Documentation?
Does any documentation for The Bat exist anywhere? I can't find any on Ritlabs website. There are a great many features in The Bat and not much in the way of directions on how to use them. Tracking down how to do something from a Windows help file is tedious and often useless. The only alternative seems to be following the discussion lists and/or posting questions. It's hard to find time for this. I'm still better pleased with The Bat than I was Pegasus but wish Ritlabs would provide some documentation -- a pdf or even a text file documenting the many features would be really helpful. -- Wayne Current version is 2.10.03 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
