Transfer from ME to XP

2003-01-16 Thread Heiko Kuschel
Hallo tbudl,

I'm going to install WinXP next week or so. It will be a fresh
install, so I'll have to install all programs again. Oh my... :-(

Waht about TB? I will backup the whole folder, install TB anew, and
copy everything from the old folder back to where it belongs. This
should save all preferences etc.

Am I right? Or is there a better way to do it?

TIA

If you make sure the folder you are installing TB into is 100% equal
to the one you have today then at least the folders and subsequently
  the Sorting Rules will work.

There might be things in the Registry though that you'll miss...but
  I don't think so.

Hi Heiko,

The best and easiest way is to use the backup function.
When you do the backup you will find you can select each account,
address book, and preference file to be included.

You then simply install TB! on the new machine and load the backup.
No worries and easy peasy :-)

Hmmh well... of course, that's what it's for. Why didn't I think of
that? (Maybe because it's the only program I know that has such a
  function...)

  Thanks a lot!

I recently moved TB! in this way from Win95B to WinXP Home. Just one
note of caution: I hope you saved your TB! Keys. I had saved mine in a
separate folder, and therefore I could register TB! again. Otherwise
I would have had to go back to Ritlabs.

Somehow, even moving the Backup over, the application itself came over
as an evaluation copy.

Perhaps this will not be your experience. Hope not. But always a good
idea to hang onto any application's Keys.
