[tips] Eastern Psych Assn. 2010 Meeting
Call for Programs EPA Convention 2010 Hope everyones school year is off to a good start. It may seem early but before you know it, the deadline for submission of programs for EPA 2010 will be here. As chair of the teaching programs, I am encouraging you to submit programs related to teaching. The convention is scheduled for March 4-7, 2010 in New York City. The electronic submission system will be available at http://www.easternpsychological.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=1 . As you plan for your submission, here are a few reminders and tips: 1) The earlier you submit the better. Many people wait until the last minute and sometimes the computerized submission system can get overwhelmed. Submitting early can avoid these technical glitches. 2) All research submitted must be completed and submissions must include the data and results. No in progress studies will be considered. 3) Please be sure to submit accurate and up-to-date email addresses. The Division will contact you about the status via email. An incorrect or inactive account means you cannot be reached. 4) Consider allowing us to move your individual submission to the poster session. D47 gets limited hours and we cannot accept all of the worthwhile submissions. This flexibility allows us to accept more. 5) Please note you must be a member of EPA to submit. (Membership includes convention registration). Please join (or renew) now to facilitate submission later on. 6) Please be aware that if you are accepted, it is a commitment to attend and present. Failing to appear (without contacting the Program Chair about an extenuating circumstance) will result in a ban for the next year for submissions. 7) Please be aware that we schedule programs through the last hour of the Convention so if you are submitting, please plan to stay for the whole conference. If you have questions, please email me at dfin...@pgcc.edu. Please put EPA Submission in the subject line so the email will go through our spam filters. Thanks and I look forward to seeing your submission! Diane Finley, PhD Teaching Program Chair Diane L. Finley, Ph.D. Professor , Department of Psychology Membership Chair, D47 - APA (Exercise and Sport Psychology) Prince George's Community College 301 Largo Road Largo MD 20774 (301) 322-0869 dfin...@pgcc.edu http://academic.pgcc.edu/~dfinley --- To make changes to your subscription contact: Bill Southerly (bsouthe...@frostburg.edu)
[tips] Eastern Psych Assn. 2010 Meeting
If you are interested in participating on a teaching activities panel, please email me. Please be sure you can commit to attend and present as we have had a few people not show up the last couple of years. Information on the conference is at http://www.easternpsychological.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=1 Diane Diane L. Finley, Ph.D. Professor , Department of Psychology Membership Chair, D47 - APA (Exercise and Sport Psychology) Prince George's Community College 301 Largo Road Largo MD 20774 (301) 322-0869 dfin...@pgcc.edu http://academic.pgcc.edu/~dfinley --- To make changes to your subscription contact: Bill Southerly (bsouthe...@frostburg.edu)
[tips] Eastern Psych Assn. 2010 Meeting
Thanks to everyone who volunteered to serve on the EPA Teaching Activities panel. The panel is now full. However, please consider submitting a teaching related program. If you have a good idea, you may be able to find some colleagues (perhaps on the listserv!) who would like to put together a program. The online submission system will open soon at http://www.easternpsychological.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=1. Please note you must be a member to submit. However, the membership fee covers conference registration. Looking forward to seeing lots of teaching program in NYC in March! Diane Diane L. Finley, Ph.D. Professor , Department of Psychology Membership Chair, D47 - APA (Exercise and Sport Psychology) Prince George's Community College 301 Largo Road Largo MD 20774 (301) 322-0869 dfin...@pgcc.edu http://academic.pgcc.edu/~dfinley --- To make changes to your subscription contact: Bill Southerly (bsouthe...@frostburg.edu)

RE: [tips] Eastern Psych Assn. 2010 Meeting
Hi Diane, If you have room on your panel, I would be interested in participating (so long as my grad asst can be a co-presenter). I would talk about the use of "writing to learn" journaling assignments (as opposed to high-stakes "writing to earn" assignments) in large introductory psychology courses. Thanks, Jeff Jeffrey S. Re: [tips] Eastern Psych Assn. 2010 Meeting
Diane, I have moved back to the east coast and have just renewed my membership (I know, very late), but when it asked for my affiliation, my new school (Germanna CC) isn't on the list, and although there are Virginia colleges on the list, I don't think there are any of the VCCS schools listed. While I was in Indiana, my affiliation (Indiana University Kokomo) was listed. Is there a reason that VCCS schools are not listed other than, perhaps, that there are no members of EPA and that they all are in Southeastern? Just wondering. The speakers for the March convention look very good. Bob . Robert W. Wildblood, PhD Riverside Counseling Center and Adjunct Psychology Faculty @ Germanna Community College drb...@rcn.com . The soundest argument will produce no more conviction in an empty head than the most superficial declamation; as a feather and a guinea fall with equal velocity in a vacuum. - Charles Caleb Colton, author and clergyman (1780-1832) . Be like the fountain that overflows, not like the cistern that merely contains. -Paulo Coelho, Brazilian Author and Lyricist . We have an obligation and a responsibility to be investing in our students and our schools. We must make sure that people who have the grades, the desire and the will, but not the money, can still get the best education possible. - Barack Obama, President of the United States of America --- To make changes to your subscription contact: Bill Southerly (bsouthe...@frostburg.edu)
