[Bug 1388647] Re: DRI_PRIME=1 has no effect in Ubuntu 14.10

2014-11-03 Thread Dominic Chambers
That's a clever trick, being able to downgrade dependencies like that.
Any pointers on how one goes about doing it, since even if I add
'trusty' sources to `/etc/apt/sources.list' then I still only see a
single version available to install if I run `apt-show-versions xserver-
xorg`?

Anyway, great work narrowing it down so quickly!

[Bug 1389021] [NEW] Does not detect hotplugged storage device (exfat)

2014-11-03 Thread Oliver S.
Public bug reported:

It used to work then stopped for some reason.

Disk /dev/sdb: 232.9 GiB, 250059350016 bytes, 488397168 sectors
Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disklabel type: dos
Disk identifier: 0x7c367968

Device Boot Start End Sectors Size Id Type
/dev/sdb1 63 488392064 488392002 232.9G 7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT

exfatfsck /dev/sdb1 finds no error

mount -t exfat works, it's just auto-mounting that doesn't.
'-t' is required though, not sure if that's normal:
mount: /dev/sdb1: more filesystems detected. This should not happen,
use -t type to explicitly specify the filesystem type or
use wipefs(8) to clean up the device.

[Bug 1388290] Re: package linux-image-generic-lts-quantal (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: o subprocesso rm cleanup foi morto pelo sinal (Falha de segmentação), core dumped

2014-11-03 Thread Seth Arnold
A few comments:

You do not want to use linux-image-generic-lts-quantal any longer; it
isn't supported. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/1204_HWE_EOL for details.

Your hardware looks broken:
[ 2713.016131] hub 1-0:1.0: over-current condition on port 3
[ 2713.224130] hub 1-0:1.0: over-current condition on port 7
[ 2713.640151] hub 1-0:1.0: over-current condition on port 7
...

Perhaps it is just two usb devices that need to move, perhaps this is a
larger problem.

Also, your 'rm' command is segfaulting a lot; I suggest checking debsums
to see if the on-file 'rm' binary is corrupted.

[Bug 1389028] [NEW] u1 account crashes and gets removed when installing app

2014-11-03 Thread Mathijs Veen
Public bug reported:

platform: Ubuntu touch
image: rtm #6
device: Mako

after updating to rtm #6 today, I tried installing an app from the
store. The app in question is the new Grooveshark app by Grooveshark
(NOT the one by Adnane Belmadiaf)

When I hit the install button, I get an error:

Login Error
Please log in to your Ubuntu One account

Sure enough, my U1 is gone fron the registered online accounts.

I can re-add my U1 account and try again to add the app but the same
thing happens every time. Even after a device reboot.

Note that it has something to do with this app. Other apps install normally.
(Needless to say i have not tried every app or scope in the store so there
might be others that trigger this as well.)

Cheers,

Mat

Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top
line at the top of the page (not the daily folder) following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream
kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this
bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested exactly
shown as:
kernel-fixed-upstream-3.18-rc3

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description.

[Ubuntu-hams-devel] [Bug 837080] Re: xsmc crashed with SIGSEGV in
__libc_start_main()  AKA:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xsmc-calc/+bug/837080

This is a dead horse and is totally superseded by a newer package
upstream from the same author whom _RECOMMENDS_ switching up to gsmc.

Looks like you have some ppa packages installed. Upgrades with ppa's
installed are not supported, nor recommended. You should ppa-purge them
before upgrading.

[Bug 1288934] Re: WARNING: found 3 modules in dependency cycles!

2014-11-03 Thread Seth Arnold
Florian, since it was just a warning and I didn't particularly care
about those modules, I chose to ignore it. I don't think it actually
influences anything except those three modules. If you actually want to
fix the problem you'd have to understand the modules and know why each
one requires functionality from one of the other modules. The real
solution probably involves modifying the source code for the modules,
maybe even more than one of them.

The SD card I used with that system died and I reinstalled with 12.04
LTS; it seemed like the easiest way to get long term support for my
pandaboard.

I hope this helps you.

[Bug 1389035] [NEW] Delete key triggers account deletion when editing account description inline

2014-11-03 Thread Alex Peters
Public bug reported:

On the Accounts tab, select an account and then left-click its
description. The description becomes editable. Move to the beginning
of the description and press the Delete key to delete the first
character.

Expected behaviour: the first character of the description is removed.

Actual behaviour: a dialogue box appears asking whether the account
should be deleted.

[Bug 1382977] Re: [SRU] Thunar open default not respecting mimetype

2014-11-03 Thread Sean Davis
** Summary changed:

- Thunar open default not respecting mimetype
+ [SRU] Thunar open default not respecting mimetype

** Description changed:

- A few files are defaulting to the wrong application. Up to date Utopic
- Xubuntu install, clean installed.
+ [SRU] Thunar open default not respecting mimetype
+
+ [Impact]
+ Thunar does not respect defaults per mimetype. This is an unintended
consequence of glib = 2.41. A patch has been distributed and verified in
Debian and Vivid Vervet.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ From Thunar. try opening a file that has several mimetype handlers.
+
+ Expected:
+ Files open with whichever application is registered as its default handler.
+
+ Actual:
+ The file may be opened in an application other than the default.
+ * Torrents open with Archive Manager instead of Transmission.
+ * PDFs open in GIMP
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ None. Fix verified in Debian and Vivid.
+
+ === Original Report ===
+ A few files are defaulting to the wrong application. Up to date Utopic
Xubuntu install, clean installed.

  Currently

torrents are defaulting to open with Archive Manager

mp3's are currently defaulting to Easytag.

  For mp3 /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache originally was
  audio/x-mp3=parole.desktop

I have since installed Clementine, Soundconverter and Easytag in that
  order.

  mimeinfo.cache now shows

audio/x-mp3=easytag.desktop;parole.desktop;soundconverter.desktop;clementine.desktop;

removing all except clementine makes no difference to what shows on the
  right click open with menu's

pdf's were defaulting to Gimp. I edited
/usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache to remove gimp which worked for
  that
