[Bug 1952999] Re: Wayland blocks the microphone of the webcam
Weird. I think this is PulseAudio's responsibility but how that relates to Wayland is not obvious. One possible explanation is the number of libraries/plugins used internally in the audio system that try to connect to an X11 server (I don't know why but they do). Starting recently mutter/gnome-shell does not have Xwayland running all the time so random library components are failing to find an X11 server. Seen also in bug 1949200. ** Changed in: mutter (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New ** Also affects: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1952999 Title: Wayland blocks the microphone of the webcam To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/1952999/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1950941] Re: Integer underflow in the vrend_decode_set_shader_buffers() on virglrenderer
The commit isn't in any upstream release yet (not even 0.9.0 in Debian experimental). It applies cleanly to 0.8.2-5build1 that is in Focal-Jammy. The code isn't present in Bionic at all. I'll leave Focal-Impish incomplete for Seths question if there is a security impact. If there is they will drive this as security fix, but if there isn't we will need steps to recreate the error to drive a normal SRU [1]. I think we can mark Jammy as triaged and apply it there either way. Really you can update whole MATE to 1.16 on Ubuntu MATE 16.04.7 LTS using commands below ``` sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-mate-dev/xenial-mate sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys FB01CC26162506E7 sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade # to get all new dependencies ``` Please note that 16.04 LTS is now EOL and gone to paid ESM support. [Bug 1918303] Re: Randomly set credentials written in cleartext to world-readable file
Hello Dan, @Dan Watkins I have a question about the permission of cloud-init-output.log when cloud-init upgrade to the version which contains this bug fix. I found that before upgrade, the permission of cloud-init-output.log is 644 and user:group is root:root, while after upgrade, the permission doesn't change to 640 root:adm. I didn't do any log cleaning during the upgrade, that means cloud-init-output.log was created by the old version of cloud-init. My expected result is the permission of cloud-init-output.log would be changed after upgrade. What's your opinion? Is it a bug or an expected behavior? thanks -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1918303 Title: Randomly set credentials written in cleartext to world-readable file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/cloud-init/+bug/1918303/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for the bug report. First please check that you don't have any extensions aside from the three Ubuntu extensions installed. Look in the 'Extensions' app and also run: cd ~/.local/share/gnome-shell rm -rf extensions then log in again. Second, you seem to be using a Xorg session(?) so we can identify which part of the system has crashed or frozen by whether the mouse pointer still moves. Does the mouse pointer still move? [Bug 1952970] [NEW] mesa GLX change leads to wine showing GLXBadFBConfig
Public bug reported: A mesa GLX change (somewhere between the 20.0.4 and 21.0.3) causes both wine and Proton (on an older system that does not have Vulkan.. SandyBridge, OpenGL 3.3..) to exit with GLXBadFBConf when it tries to fire up OpenGL. Wine, for Direct3D support it tries to fire up (in order) Vulkan then progressively older OpenGL versions fro 4.5 down to 2.1 or maybe even 1.4 (of course the older the OpenGL the lower supported Direct3D version). Wine does not like getting an error back with the same transaction serial number as it sent out. See https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues/3969 Mesa issue 3969, The patch there throws in an "XNoOp()" to increment the transaction serial number. But the patch there caused issues in other apps, per https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues/4763 Mes issue 4763, They found XNoOp() increments the serial number, but xcb keeps a "shadow copy" of the serial number which is not incremented, causing problems. XFlush() increments the serial number, keeps xcb in sync and happy, with no real side effects (running XFlush() frequently would slow things down, but this code only runs when a GLX context is being created anyway which just doesn't happen all that frequently.) Please find attached a patch implementing the updated patch suggested in issue 4763. [Bug 1952093] Re: Seeded snaps broken in the Focal dailies
Hello Paride, or anyone else affected, Accepted livecd-rootfs into focal-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/livecd- rootfs/2.664.36 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed- focal to verification-done-focal. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification- failed-focal. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping! N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days. ** Changed in: livecd-rootfs (Ubuntu Focal) Status: New => Fix Committed ** Tags added: verification-needed verification-needed-focal -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1952093 Title: Seeded snaps broken in the Focal dailies To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/livecd-rootfs/+bug/1952093/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I tested this and it worked! - Made an initial backup, not saving password. - Backed up again, changing the password. With the old version, I got an error at "verify the backup" step. But the backup files did end up being written with the wrong password. With the new version, it did not accept the wrong password and re- prompted me for the password (correct behavior). [Bug 1952633] Re: %i token does not expand on 4.13.14+dfsg-0ubuntu0.20.04.2
I've seen this problem on all the clients I've tried. Some examples include Windows 10 (when running "net use \\SERVER\SHARE") and Bionic clients (with smbclient 4.7.6+dfsg~ubuntu-0ubuntu2.24 when running e.g. smbclient -L //SERVER) I also see this with smbclient as distributed to the Focal test server I've been using to investigate this problem (currently running smbclient 4.13.14+dfsg-0ubuntu0.20.04.2). I'll stick with that Focal client for debugging purposes. When I use "include=/data/config/%i/shares" in the server config, I see: # smbclient -L //localhost -U guest Enter WORKGROUP\guest's password: Sharename Type Comment - --- IPC$IPC IPC Service (smbtest server (Samba, Ubuntu)) i.e. I don't see the share I've configured. If I instead "include=/data/config/$IP/share" where $IP is the literal IP address of the server, then: # smbclient -L //localhost -U guest Enter WORKGROUP\guest's password: Sharename Type Comment - --- alt36 Disk IPC$IPC IPC Service (smbtest server (Samba, Ubuntu)) i.e. the share I've defined in the included file becomes visible. I've now set log level=10 on the server's smb.conf. The attached zip contains log.smbd.good and log.smbd.bad which are the server logs that arise from running smbclient -L as described above (and correspond, respectively, to using a static string for 'include' versus using %i). Note that log.smbd.bad reports "Can't find include file /data/config/0.0.0.0/shares" ** Attachment added: "logs.zip" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1952633/+attachment/5544756/+files/logs.zip ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1952633 Title: %i token does not expand on 4.13.14+dfsg-0ubuntu0.20.04.2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1952633/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem. 2. The behavior you expected. 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Please also ensure that you include the release and flavour of Ubuntu that you are using. [Bug 1952633] Re: %i token does not expand on 4.13.14+dfsg-0ubuntu0.20.04.2
Hi Adam, Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report. Would you mind providing a reproducer for the bug you are experiencing? In special, what client tools are you using which are not being able to properly expand the token? While I do get the error message regarding a missing file at "/data/config/0.0.0.0/shares" when starting smbd. That should be expected since the %i token is supposed to be expanded for clients. I could not reproduce the issue using client applications though. For instance, running "findsmb" from smbclient 2:4.13.14+dfsg-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 will generate a /var/log/samba/log.$SERVER_IP file which does include an entry for the proper file named over the server IP address. It would also be nice if you could increase the debug level when running samba and attach your logs here. Since there is not enough information in your report to begin triage or to differentiate between a local configuration problem and a bug in Ubuntu, I am marking this bug as "Incomplete". We would be grateful if you would: provide a more complete description of the problem, explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to "New". For local configuration issues, you can find assistance here: http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1952633 Title: %i token does not expand on 4.13.14+dfsg-0ubuntu0.20.04.2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1952633/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
