[Bug 1968698] Re: Desktop portal's file chooser displays disabled 'Save' button after switching directory
This does seem to be a bug in the GTK4 file chooser, not the portal itself: - https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/issues/4851 - https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/commit/908661fee6a8275b40ef27f813543ef9f7a5aff5 ** Bug watch added: gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/issues #4851 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/issues/4851 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1968698 Title: Desktop portal's file chooser displays disabled 'Save' button after switching directory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xdg-desktop-portal-gtk/+bug/1968698/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1968698] [NEW] Desktop portal's file chooser displays disabled 'Save' button after switching directory
Public bug reported: ## System Ubuntu 22.04 xdg-desktop-portal-gtk 1.14.0-1build1 ## How to reproduce 1. Open confined app, snap or flatpak, e.g. Firefox 2. Open file chooser, e.g. by pressing Ctrl + S 3. In the opened file chooser: Enter a subdirectory by clicking on it in the central file list widget 4. Observe the 'Save' button turning to a disabled state (see the attached screenshot) ## How to work around You can work around the issue by editing the file name in the text input at the top of the window. E.g. by adding and then removing a single character. ## Expected results No such problem should occur. There's probably some state management issue going on. Ubuntu 21.10 did not show such behavior for me. ## Misc observations A flatpak app showed the same problem. ** Affects: xdg-desktop-portal-gtk (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1968698 Title: Desktop portal's file chooser displays disabled 'Save' button after switching directory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xdg-desktop-portal-gtk/+bug/1968698/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I can confirm this bug. network-manager 1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.3 network-manager-openvpn 1.1.93-1ubuntu1 The pushed routes are totally lacking, as are the DNS servers if one doesn't use the VPN as the default gateway for all traffic (i.e. by activating "Use this connection only for resources on its network"). Sorry for the spam: I played around a little and it seems like you're completely right: In general single-key shortcuts do work. Like for example the F-keys. [Bug 1078564] Re: single-key shortcuts in unity don't work
I try to set the rotate keys on my Lenovo x230t, where you can turn the screen. The keys show up fine in the system settings when I assign them to a action, for example a custom shortcut which launches gedit. The one shows up as "0xa1" and the other one as "RotateWindows". As I noted just today, the 0xa1 key is "free" for xbindkeys right from the beginning when I start unity. RotateWindows requires the above mentioned method of setting it in unity and then unsetting. I tried setting shortcuts in ccsm, but found no plugin for all-purpose shortcuts. Therefore I experimented with changing shortcuts of unity itself. Here I noted that setting the "RotateWindows" to some action (I chose open panel menu) works decently. It shows up as Xf86RotateWindows though. On the other hand setting 0xa1 is impossible. CCSM will just not recognize it when I press it. So I summarize: 1) In the keyboard settings I can set both keys to actions although they won't work. However I can "free" keys for xbindkeys this way. 2) In CCSM I can only set the RotateWindows key, this works then. 0xa1 (161) gets ignored. 3) If I start xbindkeys, it can get a hold of 0xa1 by default, RotateWindows gets only free to grab if I set and unset it again in the keyboard settings. I'm interested in doing any diagnostical work required. [Bug 1078564] [NEW] single-key shortcuts in unity don't work
Public bug reported: i) Steps to reproduce 1) Open keyboard shortcut settings 2) Add a test shortcut 3) assign a single key to the shortcut. Normally a laptop special key is set here ii) Expected result Shortcuts set this way just work. iii) Actual result No effect whatsoever. An interesting side note: If you have the key bound to some action with xbindkeys, it will not work initially after starting unity. If you then assign the key to a specific action in the keyboard settings, it will still not work. Buf after having removed the key again from the shortcut settings, xbindkeys takes over and from there on the xbindkeys shortcut works for the rest of the session. I must admit I'm a bit baffled that such a bug slipped into a release. The whole shortcut system is a mess (self resetting shortcuts on every login, this...). [Bug 1055871] [NEW] dash with static blur gets painted over
Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce: 1) Set dash blur to "Static blur" 2) Open for example webbrowser window (chromium in my case) 3) Open dash and make sure it is not fully maximized 4) Trigger some repaint of the window in the background. I just hover over a link. Expected result: The dash should entirely stay in foreground. Actual result: The dash gets painted over by the underlying window. You have to move your mouse onto the dash again to bring it back to life. I attached a video showing the described problem. It doesn't happen with active blur enabled. Please note that this bug is not specific to nvidia. It happens on my intel notebook as well. [Bug 977912] Re: Kyocera FS1320D needs resolution set in ghostscript filter
One last thing: (I quote chrisl here) "actually, it might be worth seeing if tkamppeter_ would be amenable to an enhancement request to allow "decoupling" of the *printer* resolution from the Ghostscript (transparency flattening) resolution - applications like Acrobat and Illustrator offer exactly that setting in similar situations." As we have it now, 300dpi printing is super fast but the images look pretty crappy. This could be avoided if it was possible to set the printer's resolution to 600dpi and ghostscript's resolution to 300dpi somehow. (for these Kyocera printers at least) Please note that this can in now way be considered a bug but I'll add it here so this idea doesn't get lost... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/977912 Title: Kyocera FS1320D needs resolution set in ghostscript filter To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups-filters/+bug/977912/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 977912] Re: Kyocera FS1320D needs resolution set in ghostscript filter
Testing results: cups/ghostscript ps at 600 dpi: time nc -w1 192.168.2.103 9100 < output.ps real0m11.601s user0m0.000s sys 0m0.004s cups/ghostscript ps at 300 dpi: time nc -w1 192.168.2.103 9100 < output.ps real0m0.322s user0m0.004s sys 0m0.000s 300 dpi is pretty fast as you can see, but the image in the header looks really crappy then. So I tried the pdf converted with pdftops again, just to see how the poppler solution performs: time nc -w1 192.168.2.103 9100 < poppler.ps real0m3.657s user0m0.004s sys 0m0.004s Image quality is as good as the 600dpi ghostscript one. So we are a bit slower now, but not far far away like before. So I guess this bug is really fixed. I'm pretty sure one could find fine tune the printer settings and save a little bit more, but that is up to the user. In general I would consider this "bug" fixed. [Bug 977912] [NEW] Kyocera FS1320D needs resolution set in ghostscript filter
Public bug reported: Chrisl and kens in the #ghostscript channel figured out what causes these incredible processing slow-downs when feeding ghostscript postscript containing images to the Kyocera FS 1320D (and most likely C1020 MFP, I didn't have it here to test this...). The printer states that it is capable of 1200x1200 dpi. Because ghostscript internally uses 720dpi to render those images, it would be desirable to be able to change this to something like 300dpi or more generally to something where "Printer Resolution" mod "Image Resolution" == 0. This is probably a good idea for most printers, as this simple change brought down my printing time from minutes to less than a second. [Bug 825775] Re: Siliencing NickServ/ChanServ
I also find this annoying. Steps to reproduce: 1) connect to the freenode server with your username 2) the message indicator will immediately turn blue and indicate a new message But this message is only NickServ telling you that you are now identified etc. So you have to click on NickServ to bring up its window to silence it. [Bug 968051] [NEW] gimp loses global menu entries
Public bug reported: After some hardly extensive editing in gimp the menu entries suddenly disappear from some gimp windows. Disappear means: The top-level menu-labels are visible and clickable, but they only reveal empty menus. Most of the time not all are affected, but after a first encounter it usually starts to spread to some other gimp windows. [Bug 963164] [NEW] windows sometimes appear invisible in spread
Public bug reported: After working for a while with frequent window-switching, windows start to display invisible in the spread. May I contact you e.g. in the #openprinting irc channel for initial assistance when I find the time today? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/951627 Title: all Kyocera network printers stopped working with cups 1.5.2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/951627/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 951627] Re: all Kyocera network printers stopped working with cups 1.5.2
Ok, sorry for the spam: I have managed to run 1.5 trunk on precise and it works perfectly. The same auto-detected settings (in this case: AppSocket) in 1.5.2 cause the FS 1320 to hang in an endless "processing" state. Summary: 1.5.0: Works 1.5.2: Does not work What is to become 1.5.3: Works So the fix should be pretty easy: Wait for a new cups 1.5 release.
In the meantime I successfully compiled cups 1.5 trunk and installed to /opt/cups. It complained about not being able to run cups-deviced though and so I couldn't test whether the problem persists... Maybe it would be a possibility to triage this bug if you could provide me with some info on how to run 1.5 trunk on precise?!

First of all, thanks a lot for your quick reply, I'll gladly provide you with the logs. The Samsung device is my private device and has worked flawlessly so far. At work we spent like two hours combining each of the two printers with each of the modes you described above with no success. The best we achieved was with the ipp setting, where the printers at least reacted and started blinking their LEDs. We even managed to get some pages out of the printers correctly, however with a success rate of a most 5% and always with the hanging and restarting of the devices. And just to state it again: The printers work with Cups 1.5.0 on Oneiric. I read on the upstream cups bugtracker that there was an ipp-related fix in 1.5 trunk, but did not manage to compile it successfully for testing purposes. I attached the two files you requested. ** Attachment added: "error_log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/951627/+attachment/2851960/+files/error_log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/951627 Title: all Kyocera network printers stopped working with cups 1.5.2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/951627/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 951627] [NEW] all Kyocera network printers stopped working with cups 1.5.2
Public bug reported: Two Kyocera printers, the FS 1320D and the FS C1020 MFP refuse to print with cups 1.5.2 delivered in precise. They are supported by the manufacturer and work as expected in oneiric and cups 1.5.0. However in Precise as of now, the printer's status led starts to blink and never goes into "ready state" again. The printer hangs and has to be powered off and on again in order to make it work with some other computer. This is a very serious issue, as this possibly renders the whole business grade Kyocera lineup unusable on Precise. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 734908 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/734908 I believe the duplicate status is wrong. [Bug 941884] Re: windows vanish when alt-dragged from semi-maximized states
as I just noticed this is most likely closely related to Bug #937665. Both show this incredible pointer/window offset after the drag. Nonetheless both bugs describe different scenarios and the outcome of this bug is way more likely to astonish the user as the window completely jumps out of sight. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/941884 Title: windows vanish when alt-dragged from semi-maximized states To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/941884/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 941884] [NEW] windows vanish when alt-dragged from semi-maximized states
Public bug reported: i) steps to reproduce: 1) open window 2) semi-maximize it by dragging it to the left or right (super + left/right works as well) 3) drag it upwards by alt-clicking on it ii) what is expected to happen: - the window should unstick from the borders, just as it does when you drag a fully maximized window from the top iii) what actually happens: - the window vanishes from the user's sight onto a different workspace. The launcher itself however insists that the window is still on this workspace. - the drag-hand icon is still displayed, while the window itself is not visible iv) illustration I have attached a video showing the occurence. I can confirm the same behaviour with my Intel notebook as well as without the unity plugin enabled.
