[Bug 1310489] Re: xorg.conf overwritten by booting system

I have the same issue but on a Dell laptop, with NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M and

[Bug 569711] Re: The system is very slow. The memory is not freed after closing a program. (-pae)

2010-05-06 Thread VasiaUVI
I've managed to make the issue disappear!
I've deleted from /home folder the .pulse folder.
It seems that in that folder I had some "processes", or something like this, so
quickly born and killed that I couldn't seen in the task manager and because of
this the CPU was at 50% and maybe this was influencing also the polkitd
service.

[Bug 570015] Re: High CPU usage in policykit-1

2010-05-03 Thread VasiaUVI
I've deleted some .* folders and files from some applications that I've
used before and unistaled and now the system is OK (I hope).

But I think that the problem was .pulse folder from pulse-audio. After
deleting this folder my CPU was in the normal state. Looking inside the
folder I've seen that were appearing some files and disappearing(like
some services) very quickly!

After restarting the PC the CPU is fine and also the memory!

The idea is that the problem on my system was .pulse folder. After
deleting this folder and also .dbus folder everything was OK.

[Bug 572813] [NEW] polkitd service is using all my RAM

2010-04-30 Thread VasiaUVI
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: policykit-1

I'm using Lucid Lynx!
After starting my laptop the polkit service is using less than 2MB but using
30% from my both CPU's. Progressively with time passing by the polkitd service
is using a lot of memory (up 600MB) until my system bacame unresponsive!
First I've thought that this memory leak is because of xorg
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/569711
but I've seen that this polkitd is taking all the CPU and RAM!

As I write the service takes 150MB and with time will arrive at >500MB.
How to stop, remove, kill, destroy, repair this service?
Thanks!

[Bug 569711] Re: The system is very slow. The memory is not freed after closing a program. (-pae)

2010-04-30 Thread VasiaUVI
Hello,
I really don't know what is happening with my Ubuntu system.
I've tried like you said with radeon.modeset=0 but is the same slow and heavy
system.
I've tried to kill, destroy, remove, explodethis polkit daemon but it's
appearing every time.
I've tried:
start-stop-daemon -K -n polkit
update-rc.d -f polkitd remove
but after boot is still appearing! My cache memory is high and also the both
CPUs are constant at 50%.
After 30 min - 1hour the memory is full and the system is much more heavy than
before.
Maybe is because of general performance, maybe of other bug, but the idea is
that I use Ubuntu from 8.04 version and I didn't saw this behavior before!

How can I murder(kill) :) this polkitd/polkit service??After this I will
investigate to see if there are other issues!
Thanks!

I've killed polkitd and the memory was freed:
ps -e | grep polkitd

But the memory is slow filling up although I don't open other

Now I will close firefox to see if the memory is freed!

I have 1GB of RAM but use only 880 MB! No Compiz is running!
Just after starting Ubuntu I had more than 600MB used. Opened Firefox and

Cone out and after 2 hours came back and my system was EXTREMELY slow.
Done the next commands that you see above.
An other thing, it's possible to have the same kernel installed 2 times?
Here is what I have:

[Bug 569711] [NEW] The system is very slow. The memory is not freed after closing a program.

2010-04-25 Thread VasiaUVI
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

After entering in Lucid and opening for example Firefox my system is became
very very slow. After closing the program the memory is not cleared.
I've put a comment on this bug report
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/565981 but I have
already GLX ver.1.2.

[Bug 565981] Re: [KMS] gem objects not deallocated

2010-04-25 Thread VasiaUVI
Hello,
I think I am also affected by this bug although I have GLX ver 1.2. Here are
some outputs:

va...@vasia-laptop:~$ grep "object bytes" /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/gem_objects
78479360 object bytes
va...@vasia-laptop:~$ glxinfo | grep "GLX version"
GLX version: 1.2
va...@vasia-laptop:~$ uname -a
Linux vasia-laptop 2.6.32-21-generic-pae #32-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 16 09:39:35 UTC
2010 i686 GNU/Linux
va...@vasia-laptop:~$ cat /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/gem_objects
984 objects
79396864 object bytes
0 pinned
0 pin bytes
0 gtt bytes
0 gtt total
va...@vasia-laptop:~$ lspci | grep VGA
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RC410 [Radeon Xpress
200M]

The think is that I don't have to wait 1 hour or so to have my system very
heavy, after entering in Ubuntu Lucid the system is heavy!
1
What could be the problem? My Ubuntu system now is ...I can say, useless!
Thanks!

[Bug 440842] Re: No sound after installing ubuntu 9.10 karmic koala beta

2009-11-02 Thread VasiaUVI
Hello Mr.Daniel T Chen,
Thanks for your answer,
I know that I have kernel 2.6.28 but the reason is that on the 2.6.31 my laptop
is restarting/blocking bery often.
I've asked on ubuntuforums.org if anyoane can help me but didn't received any
answer.
On 2.6.28 is OK but the sound is not working.
On the 9.04 everything was fine. Now I'm not so happy upgrading to Ubuntu 9.10
:(.

Thank you very much for your answer!
