Hi. Installing Ubuntu 16.04, installing INTEL GRAPHICS UPDATE TOOL FOR LINUX* OS V2.0.4 didn't help. Except one. > echo "options i915 enable_rc6=0" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/i915.conf > sudo update-initramfs -k `uname -r` -u This command disable power-saving render C-state 6 for i915 driver. It helped me on Ubuntu 16.10 and 16.04. Also there are other powersaving possibly harmful for performance and stability parameters. They are: -enable_fbc -enable_dc Also you may look at `semaphores` parameter. To read all i915 parameters: > modinfo -p i915 This is a very useful link about intel graphic that I found: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/intel_graphics @Jeffry R. I understand that "None" is UTC time, but I did not specify to show it so it should not be displayed. I also did not specify "Melbourne" time as I already have it on the panel, so it should not be displayed as well. Please fix. [Bug 996832] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 64 bits. Login screen - Unity does not allow to login in
Sorry for bothering you, but I found the cause of the problem. I had 0 available bytes in my home directory. It did not allow me to login. I reduced reserved-blocks-percentage to 0% of /home device. It got me additional 2.8G of space. But I think the bug still exists. I should be able to login and does not matter how much space I have left (0 bytes or 10G). Maybe, we need to change the title of the bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/996832 Title: Ubuntu 12.04 64 bits. [Bug 996832] [NEW] Ubuntu 12.04 64 bits. Login screen - Unity does not allow to login in
Public bug reported: I have a laptop with Ubuntu 12.04 (Fresh installation, not upgrade) 64 bits. My home folder is encrypted. It worked fine until a couple of days ago since I can't login in. It boots normally, I enter login and password (does not matter Unity or Unity 2D), press Enter. At this moment it seems that Ubuntu starts desktop, shows some messages and immediately goes back to login screen. I attached the photo of this moment. One of the messages is "could not write bytes: Broken pipe". Photo is attached. Mouse is working fine. No freeze on the screen. I tried previous kernel as well as recovery mode. The system is up to date, no updates are available. I can login using CLI (for example, pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1). I don't know which package affected, but it's critical and it would be great if you could tell me which information I need to provide. I am not sure after what it start happening. Probably, I installed Cisco AnyConnect last time which worked great in all previous versions of Ubuntu (but I used only 32 bits before). I also installed VirtualBox. I can provide a short video of the screen when I am trying to login. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/996832 Title: Ubuntu 12.04 64 bits.
