Re: [Bug 1294456] Re: [HDA-Intel - HDA ATI SB, playback] No sound at all
Sir, I thank you for your response. However, at the moment I am out of my depth and need to research the use of terminal in order to understand your solutions and feel able to try them as I seem to think that I will need to enter a different level in the process. This may take me some time and if I do succeed then I will certainly notify you. Thank you again, jcm On 19/03/14 11:23, Raymond wrote: > try specify model=vaio in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf > > option snd-hda-Intel model=vaio > > https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/tiwai/sound.git/commit/sound/pci/hda?id=fc268c10cadb4fb171381cd1fe04849877412e40 > > if it work, send email to the author to add your pci ssid 104d:81f4 to > quirk > -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1294456 Title: [HDA-Intel - HDA ATI SB, playback] No sound at all To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1294456/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1294456] Re your replies
Many thanks for your response. I can see I am quickly out of my depth. I tried to 'run those scripts(?)' in the terminal but got no recognition. No doubt doing it incorrectly! Should I now post a request to the community for some hand-held help? I ask this because the solution seems to be before me but I lack the familiarity with using the terminal to make use of the fix. Sorry to be a pest. The workaround at post 31 worked here on 10.04. [Bug 228848] [NEW] Boot Failure after 8.0.4 Upgrade
Public bug reported: On May 9th, 2008 I upgraded from Ubuntu 7.10 running on Dell Inspiron to Ubuntu 8.0.4 which was distributed to me via Internet the same day. I accepted all of the distribution files as is. The installation reached the "Restart" step without apparent incident. When I clicked 'Restart' the machine would not boot. It went to a debug screen with lots of messages of exception codes and addresses. I tried again to boot by powering off/on and got the same result. I wanted to learn more so I tried once again to power off/on but this time I used F12 and Esc to get to menus. What I discovered from a menu of boot options was that none of them were set. I manually set the boot option to the hard disk and set it in motion. The machine booted. I was able to log in. My complaint is that the upgrade program does not set the boot option. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Boot Failure after 8.0.4 Upgrade https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/228848 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
