[Bug 1199357] [NEW] completion broken for "export"
Public bug reported: I initially asked a question about this on Ask Ubuntu: http://askubuntu.com/questions/317667/tab-completing-directories-when- exporting-variables-in-bash-4-2 The problem is that when I try to complete while exporting a variable that contains a directory name, I get the following: $ export VAR=/home/w $ export /home/wds While correct behaviour would give me: $ export VAR=/home/wds The completion is handled by the script in /usr/share/bash-completion/completions/export, which installs a function _export, seen when running complete -p export which gives: complete -F _export export Remove the bash-completion package solves the problem, but of course I'm now missing all those other completions I might want. [Bug 912154] [NEW] File transfers to galaxy nexus fail
Public bug reported: When trying to transfer a directory to a galaxy nexus using MTP, I continually receive the following error message: Error creating directory: File exists No such file shows up in the file browser though. The same problem presents itself when trying to create dirs manually (using mkdir). Trying to create files (using touch) seems to work only partially, first there is an error message; touch: setting times of `test': Function not implemented (probably logical due to the nature of MTP) But then when performing ls on the directory, it takes ages (>10s) and the file that was just created does not show up. [Bug 809243] [NEW] cannot use DFS links on a cifs mount
Public bug reported: I'm trying to use a cifs shared directory which uses a global namespace with several links to different servers. When I mount the separate shared directories directly, i.e. //server/// everything works, but mounting the global share only allows me to see the global links. i.e. when I use mount.cifs: mount -t cifs //server/ test/ -o user=... I get success. Then try to ls (a non-cached directory): $ ls -l test/ ls: cannot read symbolic link test/home: Object is remote (followed by a listing that shows the link) Trying to ls home/: $ ls test/home ls: cannot open directory test/home: Not a directory Workaround: mounting home/ directly does work, but it kind of defeats the point of the global namespace. While trying to browse through I also sometimes get the following message in syslog: cifs.upcall: Usage: cifs.upcall [-t] [-v] key_serial But this is perhaps just cifs.upcall complaining about the key- request.conf still containing a -c parameter, which is now deprecated, according to the manpage. [Bug 614269] Re: x locks up after putting display to sleep and at random instances
I will do as soon as I reproduce it again. I haven't found a reliable way to trigger it so this might take a while. It seems to me this is an interaction with the DRM code, meaning the kernel locks up completely and logging just stops, so it's possible nothing ever gets written to the log file to give any indication to the problem. Which, I realise, makes this a very hard problem to track down. It does seem to happen more reliably when the machine is under load. I don't really see it happening when I'm just letting my laptop run, but when I have some remote session open, a few browser windows, my mail etc, it seems to happen a lot more quickly. -- x locks up after putting display to sleep and at random instances https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/614269 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 614269] [NEW] x locks up after putting display to sleep and at random instances
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati On this laptop I have frequent issues with X hanging up. It hangs in two (possibly not related) ways: 1) When in power management "put display to sleep..." is enabled, letting it go to sleep will frequently make it lock up. Input will not bring the screen back up and the machine no longer responds to pings etc. No particular output is logged in syslog. 2) at seemingly random times the display will corrupt (showing a repeating pattern, for example just a couple green/blue lines repeated over the length of the screen) and the machine becomes unresponsive. I've not been able to track down the source, though at this point I'm pretty sure it's related to the drivers and not the hardware (have replaced some of it). It happens pretty consistently, at least a couple times a day when intensively using the machine, usually with several apps such as eclipse and firefox open. It's been a problem since at least the previous release. This is an ati radeon xpress 1100 card in an acer 5102WLMi laptop running on lucid with version 1:6.13.0-1ubuntu5 of the driver. [Bug 590181] [NEW] banshee play queue resets back to original after logging out without exiting
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: banshee I noticed recently that whenever I start banshee the play queue reverts back to what it was before I shut down. Apparently when logging out, banshee doesn't update the stored play queue settings cleanly. If I manually quit and then start banshee, it does save the current state of the play queue, which is what is getting restored whenever I quit banshee by simply logging out of gnome. I believe banshee is probably not shutting down cleanly when logging out and doesn't manage to write out the current state of the play queue when killing it this way. [Bug 576288] [NEW] second screen in dualhead setup doesn't refresh properly until reconfigured
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati When logging in, each time the background on the right screen in my dualhead setup doesn't seem to repaint properly. [Bug 572310] [NEW] font rendering of shaded text unreadable
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg In ubuntu 10.04 and 9.10, when rendering text that has a background shading, this shading shows up as a dark blocky background, making the text unreadable. I will attach a screenshot with an example (one of many) in firefox. It also shows up in other places throughout the OS, such as when switching to a new song in banshee, on the fade in/fade out effects. I previously reported this against the wrong package and a worse description as #502336. I initially thought this was related to not using compiz, but I am using compiz (desktop effects) and it is still rendering wrongly. My machines happen to all be running (different) ati cards. [Bug 178038] Re: npviewer.bin crashed with SIGSEGV
AFAIK the latest 64 bit flash player is still an alpha version and doesn't seem to have had much in the way of updates(? not sure). In any case, before it can go to full release it still has to enter beta. Considering the 32 bit flash player 10.1 is currently at beta 3, a 64 bit version would probably also need to go through 3 beta stages. Since the beta process takes months, I do not think an official release of 64 bit flash is close. Especially considering adobe only has a single developer working on linux flash, AFAIK. So it is important to try and either fix up the 32 bit embedded version of the player (or write a new one ourselves), since it will definitely be around for quite a while. Unfortunately, on my dual head setup this is displayed either on the wrong screen or with the wrong resolution. My setup is an ATI card and two screens of different resolutions. When I log in, the progress bar is displayed on my left screen (the secondary monitor), which is the smaller one of the two (the right screen is the primary monitor). But it is sized at the size of the right screen, which is wider and taller, meaning the progress dialog spills over onto the right screen. Yup, this is still present. I just used the "choose other application" option and configured javaws manually. I will attempt on a fresh profile, see if this works differently and get back to you. [Bug 388833] [NEW] evince doesn't show last page in presentation mode
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince jaunty version. When pressing next in a slideshow or other pdf in presentation mode everything works fine up to the second to last slide. then when I press next (spacebar or right arrow) nothing seems to happen. Pressing next again gives you the 'end of presentation, press esc to exit'-screen. From this you can go back and then you do end up on the last slide. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: tracker Versions: Ubuntu 9.04 (jaunty), latest version of all packages, tracker 0.6.93-0ubuntu1 My understanding is that Tracker has a list of stop words that it ignores, so if you have a file that includes a string like say: "boy sets fire" only boy and fire will show up in the index. Unfortunately, these words don't get ignored when searching, so when you search for: - boy sets fire you get 0 results (because no results include "sets" I'm guessing) - boy you get the result - fire you get the result - boy fire you get the result Tracker should ignore these stop words in queries as well as in the indexer. ** Affects: tracker (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- tracker ignores stop words while indexing but not when querying https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/379023 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 280064] [NEW] openjdk6 remains default web start plugin even when sun is default in alternatives
Public bug reported: Basically when opening a web start application firefox gives one option for the jnlp file: Open with OpenJDK6 Web Start (default). [Bug 83290] Re: [gutsy] kernel 2.6.20 and 2.6.22 problem on asus centrino
Not sure if this is related but I have a similar problem with feisty (kernel just hangs at "setting up standard pci resources"). This happened after upgrading the RAM modules. The kernel is currently using a modified DSDT, I'll find out how to disable it, try again and post some updates later. It does seem something is seriously broken on these laptops that they would just hang on PCI after putting in some sticks of RAM.
