[Bug 1772610] [NEW] Adding back alx WoL feature
Public bug reported: [Impact] The WoL feature is a must to pass Energy Star 6.1 and above, the power consumption will be measured during S3 with WoL is enabled. [Test case] Verified pass on new Dell machines without the wake up issue. [Regression potential] No regression. We disable this feature by default, so the driver behavior will be the same. [Bug 1772617] [NEW] fix inverted boolean flag in arch_add_memory, reverts back to original behaviour
Public bug reported: == SRU Justification, ARTFUL == Bug fix #1761104 incorrectly inverted the flag in the call to arch_add_memory, it should be true instead of false. == Fix == Fix partial backport from bug #1747069, remove can_online_high_movable and fix the incorrectly set boolean argument to arch_add_memory(). NVIDIA are reported that this is was incorrectly flipped in the last SRU to fix their driver support on powerpc. == Testing == run ADT memory hotplug test, should not regress this. Without the fix, the nvidia driver on powerpc will not work. With the fix it loads and works. == Regression Potential == This fixes a regression in the original fix and hence the regression potential is the same as the previously SRU'd bug fix for #1747069, namely: "Reverting this commit does remove some functionality, however this does not regress the kernel compared to previous releases and having a working reliable memory hotplug is the preferred option. This fix does touch some memory hotplug, so there is a risk that this may break this functionality that is not covered by the kernel regression testing." ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: High Assignee: Colin Ian King (colin-king) Status: In Progress ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Colin Ian King (colin-king) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1772617 Title: fix inverted boolean flag in arch_add_memory, reverts back to original behaviour To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1772617/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1770082] Re: systemd-networkd not renaming devices on boot
I was struggling with this for quite some time and played around using netplan.io and not using it. I figured out that you need to run "update- initramfs -u" to make settings persist reboots in "/etc/systemd/network/" when not using netplan.io. But netplan.io saves the configuration in "/run/systemd/network/". Here the update of initramfs does not make any difference and on boot the network set-up fails to rename the interfaces as configured with all consequences for the system. To me it appears that "update-initramfs" needs to include the generated configuration from netplan.io to get the network configuration correct on reboot. The following workaround does the job for me after every configuration change in netplan.io: 1. netplan apply 2. rm /etc/systemd/network/10-netplan-*.link 3. cp /run/systemd/network/10-netplan-*.link /etc/systemd/network/ 4. update-initramfs -u Now the generated link files are found by update-initrd. Never the less there should be a consistent solution. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1770082 Title: systemd-networkd not renaming devices on boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/netplan/+bug/1770082/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1772557] Re: FREETYPE_PROPERTIES environment variable is not respected
Confirmed. This is related to how gnome-terminal starts up, via dbus / systemd --user. Even if you type "gnome-terminal" in let's say an xterm, it just notifies systemd to fire up the server. During this step, environment variables get lost. As a workaround, you could manually start up the server, followed by the client (with a tiny pause in between, if doing from a script), as described at https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Terminal/Debugging (without the gdb part). Here's my wrapper script I often use while debugging: #!/bin/bash /usr/lib/gnome-terminal/gnome-terminal-server --app-id a.b$$ & sleep 0.2 /usr/bin/gnome-terminal --app-id a.b$$ "$@" Plenty of other env variables that somehow affect the behavior (e.g. GTK_THEME) aren't forwarded either. So it's probably not feasible to start whitelisting and somehow proxying them to the server one by one. I guess other apps that use dbus/systemd to start up are also affected. xfce4-terminal follows a more standard pattern. I'm not sure what the right solution would be, it looks to me that this overall design has this limitation, or at least I'm not aware of the proper approach (maybe configure systemd??). Alas I'm not aware with the rationale and details of this design. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1772557 Title: FREETYPE_PROPERTIES environment variable is not respected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1772557/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1772646] [NEW] grisbi categories mismatch between two OS (Ubuntu/Windows 10)
Public bug reported: For a few years now, I use Grisbi on Ubuntu. lately, I tried to use Grisbi on Windows 10, using the same Grisbi file. I noticed that the categories for each expenses were not matching the categories I originally chose on Ubuntu. I then think that categories are stored as indexes in the datafile, and if for one reason or another, the same index doesn't design the same category on both OS, then the problem occurs. On way to solve this would be to hardcode the categories in the datafile, or make sure that a unique identifier is created for one given category, no matter the user/PC/OS grisbi sees. ** Affects: grisbi (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1772646 Title: grisbi categories mismatch between two OS (Ubuntu/Windows 10) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grisbi/+bug/1772646/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1772538] Re: Can't start arm64 VM due to apparmor error.
We have a few changes, but none of these is "the" issue. - Cpu features - cpu model - emulator without redirect But I found that your nvram line is wrong: /usr/share/AAVMF/AAVMF_VARS.fd With that you want it to change the systems default template, you should instead use /var/lib/libvirt/qemu/nvram/b1_VARS.fd With an individual guest name. This misconfiguration is the problem that breaks it: error: internal error: cannot load AppArmor profile 'libvirt-1f776433-dc84-43ac-9e60-b8e571ae22ff' If anything the message is sort of misleading, but that is another issue (see bug 1767934 for that). For this bug here it is just misconfiguration, switching to my suggestion above avoids the issue and make it work. Note: The apparmor Deny messages are actually a Red Herring and no more occurring in later versions. ** Changed in: libvirt (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: apparmor (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1772538 Title: Can't start arm64 VM due to apparmor error. [Bug 1688575] Re: Segmentation fault on a slave slapd (sync replication with kerberos authentication)
** Description changed: [Impact] Concurrent SASL authentications could trigger a segfault. This was observed by the bug reporter during replication from a master to a slave, and can be reproduced with a test program. The fix is applied upstream, see comment #13. [Test Case] * Create a fresh xenial VM or container and login. Update the apt repositories: sudo apt update * Create a local directory and cd into it: mkdir test && cd test * Download the test attachments from this bug: Makefile, sasltest.c and testscript: wget https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openldap/+bug/1688575/+attachment/5139678/+files/Makefile https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openldap/+bug/1688575/+attachment/5139679/+files/sasltest.c https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openldap/+bug/1688575/+attachment/5139680/+files/testscript + + * Build with + $ apt install libsasl2-dev libldap2-dev + $ make * Execute the testscript with sudo once. It shall fail at the very end with a core dump: sudo sh ./testscript (...) sasltest: sasltest.c:70: bind_thread: Assertion `rc == LDAP_SUCCESS' failed. Aborted (core dumped) * Export this var: export LDAPSASL_SECPROPS=none * Run the actual test script a few more times to confirm the crasH: $ ./sasltest rc = -6 (Unknown authentication method) sasltest: sasltest.c:70: bind_thread: Assertion `rc == LDAP_SUCCESS' failed. rc = -6 (Unknown authentication method) sasltest: sasltest.c:70: bind_thread: Assertion `rc == LDAP_SUCCESS' failed. rc = -6 (Unknown authentication method) sasltest: sasltest.c:70: bind_thread: Assertion `rc == LDAP_SUCCESS' failed. Aborted (core dumped) * Install the updated packages from proposed * Run ./sasltest again. Make sure the LDAPSASL_SECPROPS var is still exported: $ echo $LDAPSASL_SECPROPS none $ ./sasltest $ This time the test completes without crashing. [Regression Potential] This is SASL authentication, and with kerberos nonetheless (in the case of the bug reporter). I suspect not many people deploy this due to its complexity. The ones that have such a setup, however, tend to know what they are doing, so if they say the problem is fixed for them, I believe it is. About this particular change, it's committed upstream and also in debian, and @rtandy was kind enough to provide a sample test script that exhibits the problem. [Other Info] Since the fix is applied upstream and in Debian, there shouldn't be additional surprises here. - [Original description] I have a slapd problem on a freshly installed 16.04 machine: slapd[17107]: segfault at 1a ip 7f3c12c79f55 sp 7f3c03c2d080 error 4 in libsasl2.so.2.0.25[7f3c12c72000+19000] I'm using the server as Slave LDAP-Server and sync replication with kerberos authentication. The service either starts and runs successfully or it fails with segmentation fault or 100% CPU. Maybe an useful info, I'm replicating two databases. [Bug 1772629] [NEW] Automatic logout when resuming from suspend on Xubuntu 18.04
Public bug reported: When my Xubuntu 18.04 laptop resumes from suspend, systemd-logind automatically logs out of the current session if the laptop has stayed suspended for more than a couple of hours. If the interval between suspend and resume is short, it doesn't log out. I still haven't discovered how long this interval has to be in order to cause the logout. I enabled debug on the systemd-logind.service, creating file _/etc/systemd/system/systemd-logind.service.d/10-debug.conf_: [Service] Environment=SYSTEMD_LOG_LEVEL=debug which causes systemd-logind to log all D-Bus messages it handles, but couldn't spot anything that might have caused the logout. I scanned all systemd journal messages (`journalctl`) before systemd- logind starts killing the current session, investigated all that looked suspicious but couldn't find anything that might influence an automatic logout. Here are some of the messages that striked me as suspicious (they are not sequential, but pulled from different occasions): upowerd[1600]: unhandled action 'unbind' on /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1a.0/usb1/1-1/1-1.4/1-1.4:1.0 polkitd(authority=local)[840]: Unregistered Authentication Agent for unix-session:c2 (system bus name :1.46, object path /org/gnome/PolicyKit1/AuthenticationAgent, locale en_US.UTF-8) (disconnected from bus) wpa_supplicant[811]: dbus: fill_dict_with_properties dbus_interface=fi.w1.wpa_supplicant1.Interface dbus_property=Stations getter failed wpa_supplicant[811]: dbus: wpa_dbus_get_object_properties: failed to get object properties: (none) none at-spi-bus-launcher[7031]: XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":0.0" at-spi-bus-launcher[7031]: after 30333 requests (30333 known processed) with 0 events remaining. systemd-logind[779]: Inhibitor xfce4-power-manager (xfce4-power-manager handles these events) pid=8611 uid=1000 mode=block stopped systemd-logind[779]: Electing new display for user paulo systemd-logind[779]: Ignoring session c8 logind config doesn't have anything that might cause this: paulo:~$ loginctl show-session EnableWallMessages=no NAutoVTs=6 KillUserProcesses=no RebootToFirmwareSetup=no IdleHint=no IdleSinceHint=0 IdleSinceHintMonotonic=0 BlockInhibited=handle-power-key:handle-suspend-key:handle-hibernate-key DelayInhibited=sleep InhibitDelayMaxUSec=5s HandlePowerKey=poweroff HandleSuspendKey=suspend HandleHibernateKey=hibernate HandleLidSwitch=suspend HandleLidSwitchDocked=ignore HoldoffTimeoutUSec=30s IdleAction=ignore IdleActionUSec=30min PreparingForShutdown=no PreparingForSleep=no Docked=no RemoveIPC=yes RuntimeDirectorySize=615313408 InhibitorsMax=8192 NCurrentInhibitors=5 SessionsMax=8192 NCurrentSessions=1 UserTasksMax=10813 I can't find any anything that might cause an automatic logout after a time interval. Re: [Bug 1772057] Re: Upgrade to ubuntu18.04 failed
sudo apt-get clean, update, upgrade completed without error. Thank you for your assistance. BTW, I checked other error messages, and found that the firefox package file /usr/share/doc/firefox-locale-en/copyright was correct. I could discern no reason for that small error.
