[Bug 1836858] Re: i915: Display flickers (monitor loses signal briefly) during "flickerfree" boot, while showing the BIOS logo on a black background

2020-01-07 Thread Sebastien Bacher
@Daniel, sorry, I think I created the confusion there by (re)using your
bug to request for that kernel option to be enabled, that was needed but
doesn't seem enough. The kernel change is right though so thanks kernel
team to get that uploaded!

[Bug 1823441] Re: xen ftbfs in disco

2020-01-07 Thread Stefan Bader
** Description changed:

  [Impact]
- Warning message causes FTBFS when configured to treat warnings as errors.
+ Warning message causes FTBFS when configured to treat warnings as errors
(edit: there are actually multiple failures due to new gcc-8 and gcc-9 warnings
which are treated as errors). This bug report is used to track all the needed
changes to allow compiling again in Disco and later.
+
+ IMPORTANT NOTE(!): Albeit compiling, there is still an unresolved problem
when compiling with gcc-9 (and possibly newer) which produces a Xen hypervisor
which is unbootable (the host immediately reboots after start (no message) as
if hitting a triple fault.
+ So as a quick solution to get a working Xen hypervisor which works around bug
#1851091, the only option is to do the upload to Disco and copy forward with
binaries.

  [Test Case]
  $ apt-get source xen
  (...)
  $ cd xen*
  $ sudo apt-get build-dep xen
  (...)
  $ ./configure
  (...)
  $ make
  (...)

  $ echo $?
  2

  [Regression Potential]
Changes string formatting of an error message, which should be
transparent to users, but things to watch for would relate to xen's
  error message logs.

  [Fix]
A simple tweak to snprintf() formatting from upstream would prevent
the theoretical buffer overflow being warned about. This needs applied
to disco and eoan; bionic and earlier are not affected.

Also have a problem with instant freeze to hardreset with the same
problems in dmesg and hardware thinkpad t480. Also there is xchi
problem, but it seems as secondary.

The suddenly hardreset issue is a big problem. If I can help community

This should affect all linux-firmware >= 1.157.13 (factory image has
1.157.12~somerville4, xenial-updates has 1.157.22).

The only work-around so far is to remove
/lib/firmware/i915/kbl_dmc_ver1_01.bin (and
/lib/firmware/i915/kbl_dmc_ver1_04.bin if available).

Something which I think may help: I wrote the iso file to USB with `dd`
on fedora.

[Bug 1858632] Re: Installation crash

2020-01-07 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

This package failure looks like it was caused by bad ISO download,
corrupted install media, or device failure. eg. look in the logs and
you'll see messages like these :-

Jan 7 10:04:36 ubuntu kernel: [ 350.420737] SQUASHFS error: zlib
decompression failed, data probably corrupt
Jan 7 10:04:36 ubuntu kernel: [ 350.420740] SQUASHFS error:
squashfs_read_data failed to read block 0x524c0

Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be
a useful bug report so I am closing it, as it appears to be a bad ISO or
faulty device (inc. bad write-to-device). If you believe I'm in error,
please leave a comment explaining why and change the status back to
'New'. I suggest you verify your ISO download, and use the 'check disc
for defects' option to validate your media before install to ensure a
good download & write.

Possibly useful : https://tutorials.ubuntu.com/tutorial/tutorial-how-to-
verify-ubuntu#0 and
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/CDIntegrityCheck (CD
refers to whatever install media you use, inc. usb thumb-drive)

[Bug 1796661]

2020-01-07 Thread Gijskruitbosch+bugs
I'm hopeful this (ie the end-user-facing issue; we've not changed what
temp dir is used) would be fixed on current nightlies (
https://nightly.mozilla.org/ ) based on bug 1555644 being fixed on
Linux/macOS now. Would it be possible for you to verify if your issue is
resolved on nightly?

[Bug 1846371]

2020-01-07 Thread Ehumphries
This bug has been identified as part of a pilot on determining root
causes of blocking and dot release drivers.

It needs a root-cause set for it. Please see the list at
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FFEGsmoU8T0N8R9kk-
MXWptOPtXXXRRIe4vQo3_HgMw/.

Add the root cause as a `whiteboard` tag in the form `[rca - ]`
and remove the `rca-needed` keyword.

If you have questions, please contact :tmaity.

I think this falls under a coding error. When implementing the sync
localization support in bug 1509609 the API chosen to load the flt file
did not support language packs.

[Bug 1857328] Re: Thunar closes down when Rename -> Find and replace text. No error message. It just closes.

2020-01-07 Thread Theo Linkspfeifer
Thunar uses different wording, so this is actually a bug in Nautilus.

** Package changed: thunar (Ubuntu) => nautilus (Ubuntu)

** Summary changed:

- Thunar closes down when Rename -> Find and replace text. No error message. It
just closes.
+ Nautilus closes down when Rename -> Find and replace text. No error message.
It just closes.

[Bug 1858285] Re: SSH not honoring use of ~/.ssh/authorized_keys

2020-01-07 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
>From man ssh:
 -i identity_file
Selects a file from which the identity (private key) for public key
authentication is read. The default is ~/.ssh/id_dsa, ~/.ssh/id_ecdsa,
~/.ssh/id_ed25519 and ~/.ssh/id_rsa. Identity files may also be specified on a
per-host basis in the configuration file. It is possible to have multiple -i
options (and multiple identities specified in configuration files). If no
certificates have been explicitly specified by the CertificateFile directive,
ssh will also try to load certificate information from the filename obtained by
appending -cert.pub to identity filenames.

Accodring to that the above reported behavior is correct.

I tried your case and found Fedora and Centos work the same way as Ubuntu.
Note: filename is id_rsa not id-rsa
Didn't work with "localhost" nor with a real hostname set in /etc/hosts

This doesn't seem "SSH not honoring use of ~/.ssh/authorized_keys" to me.
What you want seems to me more like "Try target hostname as -i argument
~/.ssh/.pub" is that right?

You might also have an ssh-agent set up, that will pick up the key on first use
and might try it.

Maybe you happen to have that in your own ssh config?
What you (seem to) want can be achieved by this entry in /etc/ssh/ssh_config:
   IdentityFile ~/.ssh/%h
But that would just be a local config and not a bug.
It might be discussed as default config, but people don't want to use keys by
default too easily.
All tested systems have no difference in their default configs in regard to
IdentityFile.
Do the systems that you report as working better have anything in
/etc/ssh/ssh_config for it?

firmware.git/commit/?id=1156e62c5ec45061955a29e1b9299ffda58479d3 this
commit introduced an update (v1.04 vs. v1.01) to the i915 DMC for Kaby

doesn't fix this issue and is still reproducible on following kernel
versions:

[Bug 1823441] Re: xen ftbfs in disco

2020-01-07 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Hello Matthias, or anyone else affected,

Accepted xen into disco-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xen/4.9.2-0ubuntu5 in
a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-disco to verification-done-disco. If it does not fix
the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag
to verification-failed-disco. In either case, without details of your
testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

rule catching RBL blacklisted intruders:

It simply does not appear in mail.warn making the rule basically
useless.

[Bug 1404358]

2020-01-07 Thread Stéphane Guillou
Hi Yasunori Endo

Which version are you actually referring to? 6.4.3.2 does not exist yet.
I assume you used 6.3.4.2

I tried with the latest pre-release, 6.4 RC1, and the bug that is
described, i.e. the issue with selecting two *shapes* (the blue
rectangles), is not reproducible.

If you refer to the issue with selecting two *pictures* or *one picture
and one shape*, you are looking for bug 34438, just like explained in
comment 62. Your help for that one would be really appreciated! But I
see you already took it on there. :)

Changing back to RESOLVED FIXED.

Cheers!

[Bug 913444]

2020-01-07 Thread Olivier Dierick
Created attachment 66115
Proposed patchset v2 updated for wine-5.0-rc2

Hello,

Proposed patchset rebased for wine 5.0-rc2.
shell32 - Preserve Custom Userdirs.

- You get 'real' directories by unticking in winecfg.
- You get a symlink by ticking in winecfg.
- Or you can manage the dir/symlink yourself in the prefix and winecfg will use
that.
- Switching between dir/symlink will backup/restore 'real' directory.

With proposed patch, default trying-to-be-smart symlinks will be created only
if there is no directory or symlink for an individual shell folder in the
prefix. Otherwise the existing dir or symlink will be preserverd.

v2 : Updated for DOWNLOADS and TEMPLATES.

Please, test and give feedback for your individual use case.

Regards.

[Bug 1404358]

2020-01-07 Thread Jo7ueb
I tested this bug with LO6.4.3.2 (x64 windows).
I found that the original issue is *STILL REPRODUCED* in the newest released LO.

Selecting multiple objects is very very very fundamental feature Writer should
provide.
So I reopen this issue.

It seems nobody is working on this issue, so I will tackle with this issue.
If there're somebody coping with this issue, please let me know and have
discussion.

Thanks.

P.S.
Happy New Year 2020!!

This seems to be a rather common issue since Ubutnnu Xenial, but
happening much more often since Bionic.

@lars/Robie is that kown upstream anything we can do about it?

I'm wondering if this is a common misuse like OOM appearing as a crash?
