[Bug 1446798] Re: ExpressCard type USB3.0 adapter does not function properly
Here is the upstream bug report: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97801 Please note that I noticed while testing with upstream kernel, that the bug manifests itself only on hotplug of the adapter. If I boot with it, the adapter functions as expected. ** Tags added: kernel-bug-reported-upstream ** Bug watch added: Linux Kernel Bug Tracker #97801 http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97801 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1446798 Title: ExpressCard type USB3.0 adapter does not function properly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1446798/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1335135] Re: PAM KWallet integration not working
It also affects Kubuntu Vivid. However, there is a twist to it, which might be true of other affected systems as well. I do have to enter kdewallet password after I log in through SDDM - pam- kwallet does not work in that case. But if, before I log in through SDDM, I login through one of the virtual consoles into the text mode (hit Ctrl+Alt+F1 and enter my credentials), and login through SDDM afterwards, I do not have to enter kdewallet password - pam-kwallet works in that case. Now, I noticed about the original reporter, that he uses encrypted home directory (EcryptfsInUse: Yes). I do use it as well. I created a user without encrypted home directory, and for that user pam-kwallet works as expected. So my guess is that the bug is related somehow to the fact that the home directory is encrypted. May it be that pam-kwallet tries to communicate the password to kwallet _before_ the home directory is mounted, and therefore - fails? I see there are people on other distributions testing the same hypothesis: https://www.redhat.com/archives/pam- list/2014-October/msg0.html By the way, even if I have the pam-kwallet working on the unencrypted home dir, I still have the zombie kwalletd process. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1335135 Title: PAM KWallet integration not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pam-kwallet/+bug/1335135/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1446798] Re: ExpressCard type USB3.0 adapter does not function properly
~jsalisbury , I need your input before I proceed sending bug report to kernel. Once I started reporting the bug I noticed, that on the new kernel the problem is even worse: the expressCard is recognized (I see output in dmesg), but once I attach the external drive to it nothing is reported in dmesg, it is not reported in lsusb, etc. So, I would say, either the problem is different using the upstream kernel (regression got even worse), or the upstream kernel is not compatible with Ubuntu Vivid enough to see the problem the same way (now, otherwise the system seems to be behaving just fine, everything is working with the new kernel...) [Bug 1446798] Re: ExpressCard type USB3.0 adapter does not function properly
Installed the suggested upstream kernel, and the bug also affects it. So I marked the bug with the tag bug-exists-upstream. Also tried to install the latest Utopic kernel to test with it. Test failed: the Utopic kernel did not recognize not only the usb drive attached through the expressCard adapter, it did not recognize the drive when attached to normal USB2 port. ** Tags added: bug-exists-upstream -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1446798 Title: ExpressCard type USB3.0 adapter does not function properly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1446798/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1443321] [NEW] Sharing a folder in Kubuntu asks for kpackagekit, which is long not available
Public bug reported: When attempting to share a folder in Kubuntu Vivid freshly installed, the system attempts to find executable kpackagekit in order to install samba, and upon not finding it displays the corresponding error message. The function to initiate install of missing dependencies directly from Share tab of Folder settings used is working in Kubuntu 14.04. A further issue is, that, even once I install samba using other means, the sharing of folders does not work in case I share it only with specific users (I did not test if it works if I make it public). If I share a folder and specify that it is shared only for my user, I cannot access the shared folder from network. To fix this situation I have to create a samba user corresponding to my user by running in command line sudo smbpasswd -a username Then it starts working. It should be trivial to fix this last issue, and this would mean a huge usability improvement for Kubuntu. ** Affects: qtbase-opensource-src (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: vivid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1443321 Title: Sharing a folder in Kubuntu asks for kpackagekit, which is long not available To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qtbase-opensource-src/+bug/1443321/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1440151] [NEW] Cannot get past sddm login screen in Kubuntu Vivid
Public bug reported: Couple days ago I installed Kubuntu Vivid on Lenovo Thinkpad x220 tablet (amd64 version from daily iso). Encrypted home directory, SSD type drive. Today I could not enter my Plasma desktop. The sddm display manager gets stuck after I fill in the password and press Enter. Sometimes the mouse pointer disappears, and sometimes it turns into a black X symbol. It hangs like this till I kill it (sudo service sddm restart) I can login to tt1-6 allright. I tried installing slim and lxdm managers, but they do the same - get stuck after filling the password (mouse pointer disappears). I also tried reinstalling sddm (it updated two times in the repositories even today, so I updated to the new verisons, to no avail). I have no clue how to troubleshoot this problem. Please tell me. If it is done sooner than sunday, I will try to gather whatever information I can from the system. Otherwise I will have to reinstall Kubuntu (perhaps 14.10 version) as I do need that machine to function. PolicyKit KDE dialog, when asking for password, presents an empty user field even if the current user has the sudo privileges – I think it should preselect the current user and not ask for this extra step (in absolutely most cases it is an extra step). I do not know if it is possible to detect the users with appropriate privileges at runtime without a practical trial, but if it is, and the current user does not have those privileges, leaving the field empty would be normal in that case. dg@bala:~$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 11.10 Release:11.10 dg@bala:~$ apt-cache policy polkit-kde-1 polkit-kde-1: Įdiegta:0.99.0-3ubuntu1 Kandidatas: 0.99.0-3ubuntu1 Versijų lentelė: *** 0.99.0-3ubuntu1 0 990 http://lt.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ** Affects: policykit-kde (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/912106 Title: PolicyKit KDE dialog, asking for password, should preselect the current user To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/policykit-kde/+bug/912106/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 882932] Re: libreoffice-kde causes libreoffice to crash during bibliography finalization
Hi, to the best of my knowledge, I do run a completely up-to-date oneiric system. All packages are fully updated. my /etc/apt/sources.list file is pasted here: http://paste.ubuntu.com/721450 Output of sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade informs me that my system is up to date. Also I tested the first two packages reported above as having outdated debug symbol and I cannot find anything wrong: dg@bala:~/Dokumentai$ LC_ALL=en apt-cache policy libtiff4 libtiff4: Installed: 3.9.5-1ubuntu1 Candidate: 3.9.5-1ubuntu1 Version table: *** 3.9.5-1ubuntu1 0 990 http://lt.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status dg@bala:~/Dokumentai$ LC_ALL=en apt-cache policy libavahi-common3 libavahi-common3: Installed: 0.6.30-4ubuntu1 Candidate: 0.6.30-4ubuntu1 Version table: *** 0.6.30-4ubuntu1 0 990 http://lt.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status So I did not continue with the other packages. it is the second time I am submitting this bug report. I will probably not do it the third time, because: 1. It is time consuming 2. I see no real reason for it's marking invalid. I have attached a java crash report, that was not evaluated. This bug is reproducible, and so it is possible that someone else can submit a crash report (maybe that is easier with a freshly installed system, which mine is not). This bug has been randomly reported on the internet elsewhere. There is even a workaround for it. So my suggestion would be: 1. Reopen it 2. mark it as incomplete or whatever – it is possible that someone else can produce a valid backtrace, or maybe even a developer in charge of this bug can reproduce it with a valid backtrace. I think you should not ask the users for the hardly possible. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882932 Title: libreoffice-kde causes libreoffice to crash during bibliography finalization To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/882932/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 881264] [NEW] libreoffice-kde causes libreoffice to crash and bibus to freeze during bibliography finalization
Public bug reported: I am using Kubuntu Oneiric, up to date. This is a bug, it is perfectly reproducible. Libreoffice crashes and leaves a java crash trace (attached), bibus freezes... It happens both with bibus from Natty (since Oneiric version has a dependency issue, this is the first I tried), bibus from oneiric (installed using dpkg -i --force-depends), and the debian package from the bibus website. When I removed libreoffice-kde, finalization started to work. I would gladly report this upstream, just I do not know which upstream? libreoffice? Java? Bibus? Python? I did another test that might be relevant: I ran Libreoffice with gnome environment: OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome oowriter So I did not see the kde integration. However, when selecting OpenOffice.org Finalize in Bibus it starts finalization, proceeds a little further than before and then freezes. Libreoffice does not crash, but the finalized document is not produced... Not sure what to make of this. I did yet another test, running libreoffice and bibus from fluxbox einvironment. [Bug 862964] Re: With desktop effects enabled, kwin window decorations are badly distorted (Oneiric, Video card: Radeon 9200, driver radeon)
In my case the actual bug seems to be the failing support for my video card by the new raster qt graphics subsystem, which becomes default in kde 4.7. The upstream bug report for this is here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=282882 See if running this command via Alt-F2 helps: kwin --graphicssystem native --replace to go back to distorted window decorations, do this: kwin --graphicssystem raster --replace (just do not run these in Konsole; for some reason, when you close the Konsole window afterwards, the kwin will be gone as well :) A workaround, which makes kwin use native graphicssystem as a default, is described in the upstream bug report as well. But it is not a permanent one, you would have to reapply the fix every time kwin is updated. I should have written To DOWNGRADE to kernel from Maverick or rather, to INSTALL a kernel from Maverick, actually, since it is rather downgrade than upgrade, and not a real downgrade either, unless you remove the natty kernel afterwards. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/763688 Title: [915GM] S-video output doesn't work in Natty (i386) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/763688/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 763688] Re: [915GM] S-video output doesn't work in Natty (i386)
There was another kernel update (2.6.38-11-generic), but the flicker problem did not go away. Well, Oneiric is coming soon... [Bug 763688] Re: [915GM] S-video output doesn't work in Natty (i386)
as mentioned in comment #41 the kernel upgrade partially fixed the problem. As for my computer (specs described in a duplicate Bug #782887) all seems to be fine except that the tv-screen (not the laptop screen) flickers every 10 seconds exactly. I tried running xrandr without any arguments and it seems that the flicker I get every 10 seconds is the same as the one I get when running xrandr. Must be related to some system-run xrandr probe? Is there a way to disable the system probes? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/763688 Title: [915GM] S-video output doesn't work in Natty (i386) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/763688/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 782031] [NEW] The fourth plural form is missing from Lithuanian localizations
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: language-pack-kde-lt-base KDE Lithuanian translation has 4 plural forms instead of the 3 usually used when localizing OSS projects. So the plural header of each *.po file looks like this: Plural-Forms: nplurals=4; plural=(n==1 ? 0 : n%10==1 n%100!=11 ? 1 : n %10=2 (n%10010 || n%100=20) ? 2 : 3);\n But the actual plural forms are cut to three, leaving out the fourth form: msgid 1 action msgid_plural %1 actions msgstr[0] 1 veiksmas msgstr[1] %1 veiksmas msgstr[2] %1 veiksmai The missing string is: msgstr[3] %1 veiksmų This example is taken form /usr/share/locale-langpack/lt/LC_MESSAGES/krunner.mo file of the package version language-pack-kde-lt-base-11.04+20110421 but the problem is common to all translations in that package (of course it goes back to source package). I think this is a regression from the times of Lucid, it was solved then, and the problem was, that Launchpad translation system assumed a language in Launchpad has the same number of plural forms for all packages/projects. $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 11.04 Release:11.04 $ apt-cache policy language-pack-kde-lt-base language-pack-kde-lt-base: Įdiegta:1:11.04+20110421 Kandidatas: 1:11.04+20110421 Versijų lentelė: *** 1:11.04+20110421 0 50 http://lt.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status While the expected behaviour is for the interface to show correct strings of plural forms, the actual behaviour is that the fourth form is substituted by the first, thus, for example, in the countdown before shutdown we get: Atsijungiama po 1 sekundės. A workaround for this problem would be installing kde-l10n-lt package perhaps – I have just updated to kde 4.6.3 from kubuntu ppa, and the problem went away, because this package from ppa was automatically installed. [Bug 667704] [NEW] Servicemenu installation fails
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: dolphin Installation of Service Menus via Dolphin settings fails. There are several reasons: 1. For the installation to work, a dependency, ruby, must be installed, or so I heard. And it is not installed by default (it is only in suggests list of apt), though it is in the main repository (maybe libkde4-ruby is also required, it is in the universe though). Therefore the servicemenus get downloaded to ~/.kde/share/apps/servicemenu- download/ but they even fail to uncompress. 2. Even with ruby installed, the servicemenus do get uncompressed but the message indicator reports that „service menu installation failed“, and nothing appears in ~/.kde/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus/. An exception: installation works if it is only a plain text file servicemenu that is downloaded from kde-apps.org. Now if you go to the uncompressed servicemenu package folder, for example, ~/.kde/share/apps/servicemenu-download/124416-DropboxServiceMenu-0.14.6.tar.gz-dir/DropboxServiceMenu-0.14.6/ and run ./install-it.sh it installs nicely. 2010/4/27 Gintautas Miliauskas gintau...@miliauskas.lt: A preliminary analysis of all modules on l10n.gnome.org shows 619 strings with plurals. We might be able to upgrade them to the new plurals gradually over time, but I think it's a bit too much work for a single strong push. I wonder if there is a possibility to filter out all the strings with plural forms into separate files, then quickly distribute the files to multiple translators, then merge back the translations – it could be a very quick operation. I would contribute. We did that with KDE when we needed to switch from using „byla“ to „failas“. But that was filtering based on keyword, which is possible thanks to translate-toolkit. I think if we agreed on that, it would probably make more sense to list them in correct order (1, 2, 10, 21). Rimas I would agree – it is of course an OT matter for this particular bug report, but it has to be done first. Would Andrius raise the issue in komp...@konf.lt? I will second the suggestion. I see that getting rid of launchpad integration is problematic. However, as I have mentioned, it is more than just us who may want to bypass Launchpad. I will communicate with the Kubuntu team about the issue that is being disclosed here. 2010/4/18 Jonathan Thomas echidna...@kubuntu.org: I should add, though, that .desktop translation templates shouldn't be blocked, if the decision is to not use Launchpad translations. [Bug 565294] Re: Plural translations are broken for Lithuanian language
I would vote for Rimas' suggestion b) – not to import Lithuanian KDE translations to Launchpad at all. It is also consistent with the Kubuntu developers' position on the temporary suspension of the usage of Launchpad: The project Timelord articulates this position: „For the reasons mentioned above, the Project Timelord team has deemed that in Kubuntu's current state, using the Launchpad Translations system is counter-productive to achieving the goal of a localized, human KDE experience. During the Kubuntu 9.10 development cycle, a concentrated, cooperative effort between Kubuntu and Launchpad developers occurred to try to improve KDE translations in Kubuntu. Great improvements were made to this point, and while we appreciate the time and effort the Ubuntu Translations team has taken to improve the current situation for Kubuntu, we must face the facts that given current developer and translator resources that Kubuntu is unable to use this translation architecture in a productive manner.“ (see http://www.kubuntu.org/news/timelord for details). Also we should perhaps raise the question about changing the number of plural forms with other developers and translators in Lithuania to perpahs switch to 4 forms... [Bug 186451] Re: No menu icon
I am not sure if it is the same problem, but on Ubuntu 8.10 the KDE4 rkward package (version 0.5.0b-2) menu entry does not have an icon on the KDE 4 desktop. The problem seems to be this: the appropriate icons are misplaced either by design (it would be an upstream problem then) or during compiliation on Ubuntu. The appropriate icons are installed to: /usr/share/icons/hicolor/128x128/apps/l10n/hicolor/rkward.png (the same for other icon sizes: 64x64 and others) while they should go to /usr/share/icons/hicolor/128x128/apps/rkward.png If you move the icons to the right place, they appear in the menu. Also the there are two other icons missing in the UI: One for „dataset“ and one for „script file“ I guess the problem with those icons is, that they are generic KDE icons and not those installed with rkward (in KDE3 they look like source.png and spreadsheet.png, though I may be wrong too), and when installed on KDE4 they are not found somehow. -- No menu icon https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/186451 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 156109] Re: Lithuanian translation of Guidance includes hyeroglypha
Not that I can see - so perhaps this bug should be closed for now. Also I cannot find the formerly present *guidance*.po file in either Lithuanian or Russian sources of language-pack-kde-*-base packages; The System settings module, where it was visible - utility to manage displays - is, I guess, replaced by krandr. Another place - the user configuration module - is not available at all. Re: [Bug 63435] Re: problem with acpi suspend/hibernate (edgy beta1)
Hi Sergio, hibernate/suspend works fine with intel driver (this eliminates the need for 915resolution) in hardy kubuntu on asus A8F - it is only some screensavers that break this, since I turned off random screensavers I do not experience crashes any more. Now, with Edgy, I use power manager (the defaul program) and not kpowersave, and I do not have that problem any more - my laptop does hibernation and suspend quite successfully. However, I have noticed that if I have a bluetooth usb stick inserted (and maybe a simple usb memory stick as well), I get strange effects: after resuming from hibernate the computer in about half a minute suddenly shuts down. What logs I should attach to help you find what the problem is? I can do other testing things as well if someone tells me what to do. Would the logs you referred to above be still useful? Another thing on Edgy: after upgrade to Edgy the hibernate did not work, only the suspend. Later I noticed, that the problem was, that the upgrade corrupted my swap partition (it was no longer displayed as swap) and so there was nowhere to hibernate. Interestingly, if I move the file korganizer.mo, the menu entry in Kmail gets displayed correctly, and - in Lithuanian! So the program does take the string from somewhere else. I have no clue where from the correct string comes. I don't have the package kde-i18n-lt installed, I only have language-pack-lt-base and language-pack-lt (and the last one does not have file korganizer.mo in it). ** Affects: language-pack-kde-lt-base (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- language-pack-kde-lt-base includes some fuzzy translation strings marked as OK https://launchpad.net/bugs/77780 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: bluez-utils I am referring to remote control via sony ericcson phones as described in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BluetoothRemoteControl in dapper I could connect with the hid profile to my computer - connection was established. [Bug 70947] bluetooth:/ protocol fails to locate bluetooth devices
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdebluetooth If I enter bluetooth:/ in the Konqueror address bar, I usually get just the localhost device. there might be tens of bluetooth mobile phones around, including mine, but bluetooth:/ does not report this. [Bug 63435] Re: problem with acpi suspend/hibernate (edgy beta1)
I have a problem of suspend/hibernate not working on asus laptop. Below I include copies of some correspondence with powersave people. Klaptop did work with suspend/hibernate untill I installed 915resolution package. From then on it also fails to work. If I could be of any help to further investigate the problem, please let me know. Hi, maybe I could help you with testing kpowersave, and you help me with my laptop problem? :) I just bought an ASUS A8F laptop (see full config below), installed Kubuntu dapper, and I have problems with suspend and hibernate using the kpowersave version 0.6.0. Klaptopdaemon did not have problems with suspend/resume untill I installed 915resolution package. Now it does well with hybernate, but recovering from suspend just halts the computer. It does not manage the power profiles at all :) Anyway, I like kpowersave much better. But kpowersave: On suspend: I get a strange stripped screen upon recovering from suspend, cannot switch to any console, I exit just by forced shut down. On hibernate: I loose my 1280x800 resolution (provided by 915resolution package; I get the stretched 1074x764 resolution) and also the session (get a kdm login screen). So, maybe you could tell me what debugging info should I send you to improve support of my type of laptop, and maybe you have suggestions on how to change the scripts so that they start to function properly? e.g., the 915 resolution might have something to do with it (see http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=151222page=10 ). Yes, you need to patch the videobios after resume and before switching to the X console. Powersave is prepared to do this for you, but only if there is a config file /etc/sysconfig/videobios with a variable VIDEOBIOS_PATCH=yes and an init script /etc/init.d/boot.videobios which calls 855resolution or 915resolution. Take a look into the 855resolution-rpm for openSUSE or send a patch to integrate ubuntu's solution for 915resolution into /usr/lib/powersave/scripts/prepare_suspend_to_disk BTW: there are also examples in contrib/video_bios_{suspend,resume} on how to do this as a custom event script. -- problem with acpi suspend/hibernate (edgy beta1) https://launchpad.net/bugs/63435 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
