[Bug 311796] [NEW] Things like nm-applet and power manager show duplicate entries after suspend

2008-12-27 Thread Gabriel Dragffy
Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 installed from the i386 desktop CD on a Macbook
Pro rev 2,2.

Nm-applet and power manager should show a single entry for each item,
however, these become duplicated after resuming from a suspend.

I have attempted to attach a couple of screen crops to show the multiple
entries. Note That I have only one battery but three are now show after
two suspend/resume cycles.

Thanks.

[Bug 208595] Re: nautilus fails on sftp (and other remote access protocols)

2008-05-20 Thread Gabriel Dragffy
I've been using Hardy to access sftp accounts on a server since the
first Hardy Alpha. I had no problems. Today, I am getting poblems, no
recent updates, nothing, so I don't know what's started it. Every time I
try and connect to the remote sftp account using the valid username
'piceco' bookmark it won't work, however I have a bookmark for another
account on the same machine and this work perfectly. Multiple restarts
and much fiddling has yielded no results thus far :(

The system kept hanging for me. Only thing that kept working was the
mouse, I could move the pointer, but not click, or use the keyboard, the
fan on the laptop started to spin out of control.

It seemed fairly random, but I noticed it always happened when FF3 was
open.

I ran the following to remove flash: sudo aptitude purge
libflashsupport

Have since been browsing the internet for about 50 minutes, which is a
record without a system crash.

Hope this can help the development and improvement.

[Bug 103005] DejaVu Sans ExtraLight gone missing

2007-04-04 Thread Gabriel Dragffy
Public bug reported:

Earlier installs of Feisty (Herd 3, 4, 5) included the DejaVu Sans Light
font. It seems the most recent updates have removed this font. It isn't
available under SYSTEM - PREFERENCES - FONTS, and nor in OpenOffice.
The package ttf-dejavu is correctly installed, and I reinstalled for
good measure. It seems reading the packages description that it provides
only serif, sans, and mono - no mention of Light. Which package provides
DejaVu Light and where has it gone?

[Bug 94047] Amarok intermittently gives the error no suitable demux plugin found when trying to play remote streams/files

2007-03-20 Thread Gabriel Dragffy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: amarok

Trying to play remotely stored music files (e.g. mp3) or radio streams
sometimes gives an error pop-up that no suitable demux plugin was found.

To reproduce:
Double click on one of my radio streams and sometimes it will play OK, other
times it will give me an error. If it gives an error I just keep trying to play
different radio streams until it starts working again - then the original will
work again.

As stated it is intermittent and damned annoying! It also happens when trying
to play music over samba shares. Could it be a problem with the KIO slaves?

I have all required codecs installed, as I said it occurs randomly and will
start working again if you keep fiddling with it. I can play all my mp3s, and
radio streams perfectly using Totem or Rythmbox.

Will attach a screen grab of that error message.

[Bug 91506] Bookmarks under the 'Places' menu can be too long

2007-03-11 Thread Gabriel Dragffy
Public bug reported:

Recreate:

Create a bookmark in Nautilus to a location that has a very long path.
In my case it was to a samba server and several directories deep. The
bookmark appears under the 'Places' menu which is great, but the menu
width stretches to accommodate the entire path, this make the menu take
up half the screen which is crazy.

Expected behaviour:

In the event of having a long path: either the first few characters or
the last few characters should be shown - thus keeping the menu within
proportion but giving enough detail as to where it points.

Additional Details:

I will attach a screen shot for demonstration purposes, less than 30KB
in size.

[Bug 90421] Nautilus doesn't update after performing operations on remote (samba) filesystems

2007-03-07 Thread Gabriel Dragffy
Public bug reported:

Mounted a remote filesystem using Samba. In this case I went to
PLACES--Connect to server and put the details in there.
Once browsing the filesystem using nautilus you may delete a file by dragging
it's icon to the wastebasket. It tells you that it won't be moved but
permanently deleted. Click OK. Nautilus isn't updated and the file appears to
remain until you either manually refresh or you reconnect. This also happens
when performing other operations such as a move, and nautilus doesn't update
the view to reflect the changes.

[Bug 88501] Re: [apport] epiphany crashed with SIGSEGV in __kernel_vsyscall()

2007-03-05 Thread Gabriel Dragffy
I'm now quite convinced that these horrible crashes were the result of the swap
partition becoming unstuck.
Computer performance had been slow and error prone, then I noticed my swap
partition wasn't being used. Even after using mkswap the correct links weren't
made in /dev/disk/by-uuid, after I made my own symlinks and altered fstab my
swap partition seems to remain intacked after reboot/hibernate. Since then I
haven't experience this same crash, but if I do I'll do my best to get the
debugging on here.

[Bug 89892] Omnibook 6100 turns off or freezes during boot up

2007-03-05 Thread Gabriel Dragffy
Public bug reported:

HP Omnibook 6100, trying the Feisty pre-release. Often when starting up
I get the Ubuntu logo and progress bar. It gets to about 1/8 a long and
then freezes forever. More often than not it won't freeze but the
computer will just turn off instantly. Only way I've found to recover it
is to keep trying, sometimes unplugging it from the mains (leaving the
battery in) and leaving it for several minutes it might decide to start
working again.

I don't know how to help with this one, can ony say that Dapper and Edgy
work OK with it. After this error occurred I booted in to Knoppix and
zipped up /var/logs so I could attach it here, it's all I can think of
doing and I hope it helps.

Re: [Bug 88501] Re: [apport] epiphany crashed with SIGSEGV in __kernel_vsyscall()

2007-03-05 Thread Gabriel Dragffy
Sure, what ever you feel is best. Think I'll be opening a new bug about
Epiphany anyway because it always starts up in off line mode.

[Bug 82335] Re: network-manager should not set offline mode when it manages no device

2007-03-05 Thread Gabriel Dragffy
Just wanted to say I can confirm this. Still happening on my Herd5 Feisty
install on a crappy old HP Omnibook 6100.
Possible (untested) solution is to go to System--Preferences--Sessions and
remove Network Manager from the startup items. This will avoid breaking the
ubuntu-desktop package by the removal of network-manager-gnome and will also
leave the program available on the computer. Think I'll go and test it now :P

[Bug 76523] Re: when firefox is working, cpu start to work heavy and at the end firefox crash. It's not the first time and sometimes the crash became a system crash

2007-03-05 Thread Gabriel Dragffy
Could you please check if you have the swap partition configured correctly. You
can check this under System--Administration--System Monitor, and check the
Resources tab and see what values it shows for Used Swap.
Otherwise in a terminal run the command: swapon -s
Also during the period of high CPU usage does the computer have increased RAM
usage or use the swap?

[Bug 89295] Re: nm-applet won't automatically connected to a DHCP wired network

2007-03-03 Thread Gabriel Dragffy
It says:

network-manage 0.6.4-6ubuntu2

Which as far as I know is the latest available for Feisty. No updates
came through on my aptitude update and aptitude upgrade.

[Bug 81787] Re: Can't add JetDirect Printer with the Postscript Driver

2007-03-03 Thread Gabriel Dragffy
I can confirm this. Always happened on Dapper, Edgy and is still
ocurring on Feisty. I have done a clean install of the operating
systems. Selecting a Networked JetDirect in the manager, enter the IP:
192.168.1.10, choose the recommended PostScript driver for my LaserJet
3055 and finish, no printer is added. If you select hpijs then it will
be added OK.

Please set this bug to confirmed, and hopefully take some action to clear it
up. Thanks,
Gabe

Don't! it's rubbish and full of bugs. It's made me move to Thunderbird.
