[Bug 1285287] Re: Crashes after clicking edit while using certain icon themes

2014-07-20 Thread Mario Kemper (Romario)
I have debugged the code and could isolate the following 'standard' gtk2
call:

my $icontheme = Gtk2::IconTheme-get_default;
my @contexts = sort $icontheme-list_contexts;

Only chance I currently see is to remove the feature (import icons from
the current icon theme - I have never used that for example).

Kind regards,
Mario

* The crashes are related to a very old version of Shutter 0.88.1-1 (December
2011)
* 15 bugs in total is buggy for you? gnome-screenshot has 51

* You can turn of autostart in Shutter's preferences window
* No upstream changes this year, right - But: The latest upstream version of
Shutter is 0.90 (0.89 in the archives)

Please upload Shutter to the latest upstream version instead of removing it.

[Bug 967745] Re: Errors loading shutter 0.88.1 in Precise

2012-03-30 Thread Mario Kemper (Romario)
@Krysztof: The missing dependency is a bug in Debian's and Ubuntu's

Shutter should disable the plugin, indeed. There is already a bug report

This is invalid because it is not really a bug. All the details are

You can either whitelist Shutter, use the Quicklist instead or wait for
appindicator-support (which will be added as soon as any bindings for
libappindicator will be available).

[Bug 805464] Re: On Unity, unable to reopen Shutter from UI once it has been 'minimized to tray'

2011-07-04 Thread Mario Kemper (Romario)
Adding it to the whitelist works great in natty - maybe it doesn't work
in oneiric. A detailed description can be found here: http://shutter-
project.org/2011/03/0-87-2-adds-quicklist-support/

As long as there is no real solution (indicator support) it might be
useful to disable the related option in Shutter's preferences, see:

Re: [Bug 785608] [NEW] Website-Capture doesn't work in natty

2011-05-20 Thread Mario Kemper (Romario)
This is due to a switch to gnome-web-photo 0.10 (webkit rewrite). The
new version does not support the --format argument. Could you please
check our daily PPA and see if it is fixed there? Thanks.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:shutter-testing-team/dailybuilds

[Bug 781280] [NEW] Add a Screenshot-API (Plugin)

2011-05-11 Thread Mario Kemper (Romario)
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

Most other platforms provide neat ways to capture a screenshot while preserving
transparency. KWIN added a functionality like that recently:
https://svn.reviewboard.kde.org/r/4814/
KWIN is offering the API via DBUS.

In most cases we need hacky and ugly solutions to get similar
functionalities when using compiz (try launchpad.net/shutter), e.g. to
get transparency when using a shaped window. When adding this to compiz
we could render the window to an offscreen buffer and get perfect
screenshots (even though I don't know how to do this).

I would imagine to expose the following functionality via DBUS:
screenshot() //takes the whole desktop
screenshotWindowUnderCursor()
screenshotWindowbyXID(xid) //capture a specific window by providing the xid of
the window

It would also be a great contribution to all documentation-like projects and
the blogosphere. The nicer the screenshots are, the more impressive is what
they show. Currently most window-only-screenshots look ugly compared to
screenshots of other platforms (like Win7 or Mac OSX).

Please let me know if I can do anything to help out here (e.g. how to
write a compiz plugin).

[Bug 778523] Re: Selection dashed line is included in screenshots

2011-05-07 Thread Mario Kemper (Romario)
This is known as a nvidia-drivers issue. I don't know whether this is
Shutter's or the driver's fault, but this only happens to users with
nividia gfx-card (proprietary driver, doesn't happen with nv).
Unfortunately, I don't have a system to test with.

Are you using a timeout? Does this also happen when setting the timeout
to 0?

You have to install the package perl-doc for this to work.
The package has a size of 7.113 kB. I think we should consider to remove this
option instead of adding the package as a dependency, because you can also use
'man shutter' without having the perl-doc package installed.

[Bug 763397] Re: Odd error message when closing shutter in unity

2011-04-20 Thread Mario Kemper (Romario)
No problem. The real reason is that compiz's dbus-backend is broken:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/749084

So the easiest way is to disable this plugin in ccsm as long as this
plugin is broken. Anyway, Shutter is not reacting in a useful way, so I
might spend some time here to fix that and make it more meaningful.

Re: [Bug 738710] Re: Needs quicklists for Natty

2011-03-23 Thread Mario Kemper (Romario)
This is a nice idea, but I don't think that this is possible, because
the quicklist-items are defined in the application's .desktop file.
This file is usually readonly. Hence, it does not make sense to have
any graphical interface. I like the idea to add only the 4 most common
options. Let's see how users react and how they use the quicklist
feature at all - it is a new usabilty feature for all of us.

[Bug 611495] Re: Print screen dosen't work after removing Shutter

2011-02-23 Thread Mario Kemper (Romario)
This problem exists in both packages (Ubuntu archive and PPA). When
configuring the keybindings (see Shutter's preferences) the following
GConf keys are modified:

/apps/metacity/global_keybindings/run_command_screenshot
/apps/metacity/global_keybindings/run_command_window_screenshot
/apps/metacity/keybinding_commands/command_screenshot
/apps/metacity/keybinding_commands/command_window_screenshot

When removing the package those values are still configured for Shutter.
My idea was to reset the keys to reasonable default values (e.g. gnome-
screenshot like in a fresh installation of ubuntu) when uninstalling the
package.
