[Bug 781280] [NEW] Add a Screenshot-API (Plugin)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz Most other platforms provide neat ways to capture a screenshot while preserving transparency. KWIN added a functionality like that recently: https://svn.reviewboard.kde.org/r/4814/ KWIN is offering the API via DBUS. In most cases we need hacky and ugly solutions to get similar functionalities when using compiz (try launchpad.net/shutter), e.g. to get transparency when using a shaped window. When adding this to compiz we could render the window to an offscreen buffer and get perfect screenshots (even though I don't know how to do this). I would imagine to expose the following functionality via DBUS: screenshot() //takes the whole desktop screenshotWindowUnderCursor() screenshotWindowbyXID(xid) //capture a specific window by providing the xid of the window It would also be a great contribution to all documentation-like projects and the blogosphere. The nicer the screenshots are, the more impressive is what they show. Currently most window-only-screenshots look ugly compared to screenshots of other platforms (like Win7 or Mac OSX). Please let me know if I can do anything to help out here (e.g. how to write a compiz plugin). ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/781280 Title: Add a Screenshot-API (Plugin) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

No problem. The real reason is that compiz's dbus-backend is broken: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/749084 So the easiest way is to disable this plugin in ccsm as long as this plugin is broken. Anyway, Shutter is not reacting in a useful way, so I might spend some time here to fix that and make it more meaningful. ** Attachment added: CompizConfig Einstellungs-Manager_036.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/shutter/+bug/763397/+attachment/2075260/+files/CompizConfig%20Einstellungs-Manager_036.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/763397 Title: Odd error message when closing shutter in unity -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 738710] Re: Needs quicklists for Natty
This is a nice idea, but I don't think that this is possible, because the quicklist-items are defined in the application's .desktop file. This file is usually readonly. Hence, it does not make sense to have any graphical interface. I like the idea to add only the 4 most common options. [Bug 611495] Re: Print screen dosen't work after removing Shutter
This problem exists in both packages (Ubuntu archive and PPA). When configuring the keybindings (see Shutter's preferences) the following GConf keys are modified: /apps/metacity/global_keybindings/run_command_screenshot /apps/metacity/global_keybindings/run_command_window_screenshot /apps/metacity/keybinding_commands/command_screenshot /apps/metacity/keybinding_commands/command_window_screenshot When removing the package those values are still configured for Shutter. My idea was to reset the keys to reasonable default values (e.g. gnome- screenshot like in a fresh installation of ubuntu) when uninstalling the package. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/611495 Title: Print screen dosen't work after removing Shutter -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
