[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 638025] Re: Cannot disable 'tap to touch' on touchpad Dell Inspiron 15R or machines without synaptic touchpad driver
Dell Inspiron 1525, Kubuntu 10.04. Enabling/disabling works, touchpad buttons work, but moving the cursor via the touchpad doesn't. Tried kubuntu systemsettings, gsynaptics and gpointing-device-settings. The first two didn't do anything, the latter at least could switch the device on/of. -- Cannot disable 'tap to touch' on touchpad Dell Inspiron 15R or machines without synaptic touchpad driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/638025 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 312756] Re: support graphics card hot switch
I spend a great deal of time myself attempting to figure out the u43jc dsdt, and I was able to find the _PS0 and _PS3 methods. Since _PS3 is the method for powering off devices, and it was the only occurrence of _PS3 in the entire DSDT.dsl, I figure this is correct. (It appears at \_SB.PCI0.RP00.VGA). I have no idea if this is right or not, but this is the best I can do. I also attached the isolated _PS3 method. I looked through it myself, and was unable to find any discernible method that would shut off the GPU... Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am willing to try test commands posted. ** Attachment added: Asus_U43jc_DSDT_PS3.dsl https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/312756/+attachment/1597137/+files/Asus_U43jc_DSDT_PS3.dsl -- support graphics card hot switch https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312756 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 641091] [NEW] erratic mouse behaviour after resume
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-mouse Right after resume, all pointing device I have (USB mouse, touchpad, trackstick) start to act crazily. The USB mouse almost works, except that button clicks are ignored. Both touchpad and trackstick are broken in funny ways: - The pointer moves erratically, sometimes jumping a long distance when I move a finger - The buttons don't appear to work - In fact, it seems that X thinks that some buttons are pressed, because I see desktop menu randomly appear, things scrolled, windows moved, etc. I am not exactly sure which package is responsible for this. This reliably reproduces on E6410 after each resume under Kubuntu Maverick beta (fully updated). Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-evdev In Maverick the mouse acceleration optione in xorg.conf.d are ignored, resulting in insanely high mouse sensitivity with high dpi/cpi mouse. This is solved by installing a newer version of xserver-xorg-input-evdev, in my case 2.5.0+git20100822.990540fa-0ubuntu0sarvatt from the xorg-edgers ppa. This is also described in http://www.gossamer- threads.com/lists/gentoo/desktop/211357#211357, where updating to 2.4 also fixed the problem on gentoo. /usr/lib/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-kinzu: Section InputClass Identifier Kinzu MatchIsPointer on MatchProduct Kinzu MatchDevicePath /dev/input/event* Driver evdev Option AccelerationProfile -1 Option ConstantDeceleration 5 Option ExpectedRate 500 Option Emulate3Buttons false EndSection Xorg.0.log with the current 10.10 version 2.3.2-6ubuntu3: [ 539.571] (II) config/udev: Adding input device SteelSeries Kinzu (/dev/input/event2) [ 539.571] (**) SteelSeries Kinzu: Applying InputClass evdev pointer catchall [ 539.571] (**) SteelSeries Kinzu: Applying InputClass Kinzu [ 539.571] (**) SteelSeries Kinzu: always reports core events [ 539.571] (**) SteelSeries Kinzu: Device: /dev/input/event2 [ 539.650] (II) SteelSeries Kinzu: Found 3 mouse buttons [ 539.650] (II) SteelSeries Kinzu: Found scroll wheel(s) [ 539.650] (II) SteelSeries Kinzu: Found relative axes [ 539.650] (II) SteelSeries Kinzu: Found x and y relative axes [ 539.650] (II) SteelSeries Kinzu: Configuring as mouse [ 539.650] (**) Option Emulate3Buttons false [ 539.650] (II) SteelSeries Kinzu: Forcing middle mouse button emulation off. I had the same bug. After logging more than one user and logout one of them I got the black screen. I've updated nvidia drivers to 173.14.27 and the bug has gone. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 641320] Re: Touchpad is not working since last kernel update in maverick
I was notified of this bug since the uTouch framework is now used for some input handling in X in Maverick. I am 99% sure this is not a uTouch induced issue since: 1. A kernel reversion fixes the issue. 2. The X Synaptics input module is used, which is not uTouch enabled. This is likely due to the following commit, which enables ALPS support for the trackpad instead of the bare IMPS/2 protocol. This is confirmed by the Xorg logs from the different kernels: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubuntu/ubuntu- maverick.git;a=commit;h=bd79df42218fe1db5e683b567791d4bb97b60685 ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) = linux (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Critical ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Milestone: None = ubuntu-10.10 -- Touchpad is not working since last kernel update in maverick https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/641320 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 641346] [NEW] [xorg-edgers][i965] enabled DVMT in bios causes sudden system deaths
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel Not sure if it's xorg or drm bug. Doesn't depend on kernel version: reproduced on stock 10.04 kernel and all newer kernels for lucid from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/. My motherboard: Asus P5B-VM Running Ubuntu 10.04.1, 2.6.34-020634-generic x86_64 Several months ago, after one of updates from xorg-edgers, sudden system deaths begun. Death sympthoms: - picture on display freezes, mostly during compiz desktop slide-switching or opengl screensaver running, rarely during zoom - most times kernel even doesn't react to magic key combination (sometimes it's still responses to SysRq+R,S,U,B) - nothing about kernel panic or some errors in logs (after successful emergency sync, unmount, reboot) Making some expirements these months, I found out, that DVMT bios settings directly affects this issue. I think, video driver or DRM have problem with video ram area configuration, and this causes video adapter to write to kernel memory. Because of bug in apport, I was unable to send report using ubuntu-bug. Tell if some system information required. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 crash edgers lucid ** Tags added: lucid ** Tags added: amd64 crash edgers ** Summary changed: - [xorg-edgers][965G] enabled DVMT in bios causes sudden system deaths + [xorg-edgers][i965] enabled DVMT in bios causes sudden system deaths -- [xorg-edgers][i965] enabled DVMT in bios causes sudden system deaths https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/641346 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 616997] Re: [RV515] Unity keeps reloading with a white background
Now , yay! back to a reloading unity as i reported initially! ;-) Looks like either the mesa update fixed the constant white screen or maybe it was the clutter update. mutter --replace just works fine works and no need to use CLUTTER_VBLANK=none mutter --replace . Its only unity that is broken now [again]. seems like the disable-effects flag requirement is the one that remains as mentioned in comment #64 and what neil mentioned a couple of days ago. njpatel vish, yep, we got stalled on a workaround, I pinged the team for that this morning, hopefully we'll have an answer soon. Sorry it's taken so long, but it's harder to switch stuff off than switch it on it seems :) Attaching today's xsession-errors. $ apt-cache policy libglu1-mesa libglu1-mesa: Installed: 7.9~git20100909-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 7.9~git20100909-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 7.9~git20100909-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status $ apt-cache policy clutter-1.0 clutter-1.0-tests: Installed: (none) Candidate: 1.2.12-0ubuntu13 Version table: 1.2.12-0ubuntu13 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages libclutter-1.0-0: Installed: 1.2.12-0ubuntu13 Candidate: 1.2.12-0ubuntu13 Version table: *** 1.2.12-0ubuntu13 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status clutter-1.0-tests-common: Installed: (none) Candidate: 1.2.12-0ubuntu13 Version table: 1.2.12-0ubuntu13 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages libclutter-1.0-tests: Installed: (none) Candidate: (none) Version table: libclutter-1.0-tests-common: Installed: (none) Candidate: (none) Version table: gir1.0-clutter-1.0: Installed: (none) Candidate: 1.2.12-0ubuntu13 Version table: 1.2.12-0ubuntu13 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages libclutter-1.0-dev: Installed: (none) Candidate: 1.2.12-0ubuntu13 Version table: 1.2.12-0ubuntu13 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages libclutter-1.0-dbg: Installed: (none) Candidate: 1.2.12-0ubuntu13 Version table: 1.2.12-0ubuntu13 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages libclutter-1.0-doc: Installed: (none) Candidate: 1.2.12-0ubuntu13 Version table: 1.2.12-0ubuntu13 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages ** Attachment added: xsession-errors-9-17 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/616997/+attachment/1598403/+files/xsession-errors-9-17 -- [RV515] Unity keeps reloading with a white background https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/616997 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 641506] [NEW] X froze when trying to switch windows too fast.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau When trying to switch windows to fast it seems like X froze. I coulds still move the mouse until I tried to get X back with sysrq+k, after that it was frozen solid and top showed an Xorg process using 90% CPU. I had to stop kdm and kill X to get apport to finish the information collection. Attaching kdm.log if it helps. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 641525] [NEW] Screen with 4:3 ratio incorrectly detected as having 16:9 ratio
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Following an update a few days ago, my laptop's screen is detected as having a 16:9 ratio rather than a 4:3 ratio and the display is set to 1360x768 pixels rather than 1024x768. As a result, the GDM login box is shifted to the right and, once logged in, the screen extends to the right making some elements of the desktop displayed outside the physical screen area. This can be corrected on a per-user basis by setting the resolution manually in System → Preferences → Monitors but doesn't correct the login screen. See the attached photograph for an illustration. Steps to reproduce: 1. Boot Ubuntu 10.10 on a computer with a screen that has a physical 4:3 ratio (1024x768 in my case). 2. The boot screen is displayed with a 4:3 ratio 3. The login screen appears and is displayed with a resolution of 1360x768 pixels (16:9 ratio, login box shifted to the right) 4. Log-in 5. The desktop is displayed with a resolution of 1360x768 pixels resulting in 336 pixels (1360-1024) worth of screen real estate displayed outside the screen boundary to the right Expected behaviour: In steps 3 and 5, the login screen and the desktop should be displayed with resolution that has a 4:3 ratio, as per the physical ratio of the screen. Workaround: Once logged in, go to System → Preferences → Monitors and select a resolution that fits the physical screen. However, this needs to be done for every user on the system. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 599316] Re: keyboard starts repeating the last pressed key
Unfortunately the above hack of modifying xorg.conf isn't a solution for 10.4. After several weeks of joy, the bug struck again. I was lazily editing a document and leaned on the keyboard, probably pressing the ctrl or shift key. Bam, the space key started to auto- repeat. Had to power off. -- keyboard starts repeating the last pressed key https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/599316 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 565981] Re: [KMS] gem objects not deallocated
This still seems to be a problem in recent kernel versions (KMS enabled)! Oddly, with kernel 2.6.33, everything seems fine (lucid + ppa kde and all xorg variants, including xorg-edgers on a Thinkpad T500, i915). But with every version from 2.6.34 up to 2.6.36-rc4 I have tried, there clearly is a bad memory leak making the machine unusable within several hours (watching movies does is not helpful in particular). This slabtop output shows what happens after less than two hours or so of normal activity (switching desktops, moving windows etc.): OBJS ACTIVE USE OBJ SIZE SLABS OBJ/SLAB CACHE SIZE NAME 211200 211200 100%0.02K825 256 3300K kmalloc-16 It'd be great if anyone who knows more about the state of this problem could comment or post a solution if available... -- [KMS] gem objects not deallocated https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/565981 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
