On the PI isn't pin 1 3.3volts, should pin 15 on LCD go to pin 2 of pi.
Pin 16 as stated goes to gpio 17 which is Pin 11 on pi.

pin15 on LCD goes to pin 1 on Pi (3,3V)

Thanks Rippi and Murphyprecht, really appreciate the help. Started from
scratch again this morning with the image from post #35. Worked like a
charm. I'm reusing a 14 pin 40x2 display from an MPD project that was
shelved when I discovered Squeezebox. Used LCD Proc on that project but
to edit the width here I'm looking for somthing else. Not familiar with
TinyCore + LCD usage so am at fringe of knowledge.

Thanks again for your help. Much appreciate the image.

Looking the datasheets they quote 5 volts for the back lighting ? are
you running 3.3v to make it dimmer ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: Squeeze on Arch - developer version

2014-09-10 Thread Triode

I've updated the SoA install script for cubietruck to enable the spdif
port and added a script to build a custom kernel.

By default is should install and be able to play in 16 bit mode. With
the custom kernel is supports 24 bit audio.

This registers as 24 bits on my dac, but I have not verified that this
is accurate yet - would be happy if anyone else can do so.

For reference the patch I am applying for 24 bit is here:
https://github.com/SqueezeOnArch/soa-aur/blob/master/linux-sun7i/spdif-24bit.patch
- this is not based on any previous work as this doesn't seem to be
published, so I would welcome any feedback...

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCoPlayer = Squeezelite on Microcore linux. .An embedded OS in RAM with Squeezelite

2014-09-10 Thread AndyBeevers

I have purchased the new Pi along with PIDAC+ from hifiberry. Loaded
picoreplayer onto a 4GB card but as soon as I select the HiFiBerry card
the system stops working. I can't even telnet into it. I haven't
connected up a screen yet to see if there are any messages yet. Do I
need to manually update the drivers

Thoughts?

Hmm... I made that mistake. The HifiBerry DAC+ isn't supported yet. I
ended up re-burning picoreplayer to a micro SD card and using the audio
jack on the pi. Do not select any HiFiBerry options until Steen gives
the go ahead.

 Hi Greg.
The new B+ DACs are only supported in kernel 3.12 and 3.16. (so we can't
 use 3.14 or 3.15 kernels)
According to Bela, the 3.16 kernel is working really good in piCore,
therefore, I thought I would try the 3.16 kernel first.

 Steen

Hi Andy,

The current piCorePlayer is using 3.14 kernel. So not compatible with B+
I2S DACs.

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCoPlayer = Squeezelite on Microcore linux. .An embedded OS in RAM with Squeezelite

2014-09-10 Thread Hammer

Hi, I just assembled my first piCorePlayer using the B+ hardware and I
am unable to access the web setup page using port 8077. I can putty
into the player and see the command line options and so it appears to be
working. Any thoughts? Listing the alsa devices I see my USB DAC,
but I don't see the option to enable USB as the output from the command
line options listing. Also, I can see the player listed from LMS Web
Control. Since I am planning to use this with an USB DAC, I don't have
any of the audio hardware optional cards installed. Lastly, I am using
the latest version 1.17a from
https://sites.google.com/site/picoreplayer/home/download.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Hammer.
