We don't have a schedule for 3.4.1 yet.
Following the 1 month rule and considering the April holidays, I'll suggest the
following tentative dates:

2014-04-30 oVirt 3.4.1 RC
2014-05-07 oVirt 3.4.1 GA.

From a quick look, this regression exists in ovirt-3.3 as well.

I agree, the package list is broken:

  otopi
  ovirt-host-deploy
  ovirt

^^ ovirt-engine

  ovirt-cli
^^ ovirt-engine-cli

  ovirt-dbscripts

^^ ovirt-engine-dbscripts

  ovirt-doc
^^ this doesn't exist

  ovirt-image-uploader
  ovirt-iso-uploader
  ovirt-log-collector

The group file was added yesterday as per

Probably a leftover from the script that generates the repo, David please
remove it as last step of the script you're using for generating the repo.

Re: [Users] Clome thin provision to thin provision??

2014-03-31 Thread Gadi Ickowicz
Hi,

This should be possible AFAIK - are you selecting thin provision for each disk?
if you are, could you please attach engine logs and vdsm logs from the spm host
for the time of creation of the vm from the snapshot?
also - your vdsm version is quite a bit older than the engine version

Thanks,

Hello:

Is it possible to clone a vm with thin provisioned disks to another vm
with thin provisioned disks too?

Currently when I clone a VM from a snapshot, although I choose "thin
provision" in "resource allocation"->"Storage Allocation" from the
"Clone VM from Snapshot dialog", the VM is created with preallocated disk(s)

Is this the default or there is a problem with my engine/nodes installation?

Engine: Centos 6.5, ovirt-engine 3.4.0-1.el6

You need virt-viewer-x86-0.5.6.msi, not the 0.5.7 version!, and associate the
*.vv file with remote-viewer.exe. You can ofcourse also download and use the

2014-03-31 Thread Alon Bar-Lev

The group within repository[1] is invalid.

Sandro, kiril, please modify ovirt->ovirt-enigne and check that all packages
are OK.

I also do not know what this file[2] is at that location.

Alastair, all the issues are caused by this, as product is not upgraded to 3.4,
so setup package of 3.4 is trying to setup 3.3 product.

Thank you for the report!

[Users] ovirt-guest-agent on debian?

2014-03-31 Thread Boudewijn Ector
Hi Guys

I was wondering wether anybody has the guest agent already working on
debian guests. In m previous install I had a working setup but currently
I only see Ubuntu packages.

When using these ubuntu packages I really run quite fast into trouble
due to the highly integrated nature of upstart in ubuntu.
Has anybody got a suggestion for a debian package?

Cheers,

Re: [Users] Affinity Groups

Shouldnt the negative affinity group keep the two guests apart? And a positive
affinity group keep them together? I just wanted to make sure that I understand
it correctly

Hi Maurice,

We have a bug on it:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/1080515

I'm going to fail the creation of an affinity group if it's violating the
constraints.
will that solve your problem?

Thanks,
Gilad.

Re: [Users] Force certain VMs to be on different hosts

2014-03-31 Thread Gilad Chaplik
Hi Joop,

You've created a positive enforcing affinity group -> means that VMs should
stay on the same host, no migration allowed while more than one VM is up.
What you're requesting is a useful RFE, some-kind of a 'follow me' positive
affinity group.
I'm +1 on that :-) can you please open a formal request/RFE for it?
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/enter_bug.cgi?product=oVirt

Thanks,
Gilad.

Re: [Users] live storage migration - when is this being targeted?

From what I can understand ovirt 3.4.0 - or a least the hypervisor

AFAIK isn't a old qemu-kvm package but a exclusive rhev package with the
live storage migration flags activated in the rpm build spec.

I could activate live storage migration in 3.4 using the packages of
this 3rd party repo: http://www.dreyou.org/ovirt/vdsm/Packages/

I manually installed (rpm -i) qemu-img-rhev and qemu-kvm-rhev in each
node. I didn't need to update vdsm.

Yes I know that is not the most elegant and professional way, but I need
live storage migration.

My nodes run Centos 6.5 and vdsm 4.13.3

I don't know why downstream includes this feature while upstream still
don't have this. Sounds as political and commercial reasons from RH.

Is there and documentation on the relationship between cpu types and

sense to merge some of them if the performance hit was minimal.

[Users] Clome thin provision to thin provision??

2014-03-31 Thread Federico Alberto Sayd

Ok my bad, I just asked a colleague and he told me that SPICE is not
supported at the moment. Seems like that we haven't had the spice
drivers yet for it.

Sorry for the confusion.

So it's correct that you can only have VNC or RDP.

A fix was already been committed.

About kvm and libvirt, you only need them on the nodes running hypervisors;

You need virt-viewer-x86-0.5.6.msi, not the 0.5.7 version!, and associate the
*.vv file with remote-viewer.exe. You can ofcourse also download and use the
64b msi installer :-)

I am sorry guys! It is my mistake. These are tools for windows guest virtual
machines.
The download link for the viewer is little bit up in the page I sent to you or
you can get it from here http://virt-manager.org/download/
After installing it - restart your IE and try open virtual machine from your
portal.
Once again - my apologies.

You didn't upgrade kvm and libvirt as per the upgrade notes. You need to
add the virt-preview repo when on Fedora and run yum update. Check the

Would you share an excerpt of your /var/log/vdsm/vdsm.log? Most
interesting is the backtrace ending up with this error message.

[Users] VM satelit is down. Exit message: 'int' object has no attribute 'replace'.

2014-03-31 Thread Gabi C
Hello!

3.3.3 migrated to latest stable 3.4.0

3 nodes F19

KVM Version:1.4.2 - 15.fc19
LIBVIRT Version:libvirt-1.0.5.9-1.fc19
VDSM Version:libvirt-1.0.5.9-1.fc19

oVirt Engine Version: 3.4.0-1.fc19

Upgraded took place with 3 Vm up and 2 down: first upgraded engine, then
after freeing one node at a time node of and updating it.

After upgrade when I try to run any of the 2 powered down machines, I get
"VM . is down. Exit message: 'int' object has no attribute
'replace'."

Any ideas?

[Users] live storage migration - when is this being targeted?

2014-03-31 Thread Paul Jansen
>From what I can understand ovirt 3.4.0 - or a least the hypervisor part based

I assume this is a related bug?
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1009100
From what I can infer from this there is a related issue with vdsm that needs
handling as well?

From a feature parity perspective against Vmware Vcenter (Enterprise plus) this
is a very important feature.
I can think of a number of Vmware shops that wouldn't look an a competing
hypervisor management platform without this feature working.  I think this
would be a key milestone for ovirt to get to.

Is this something that is likely to be worked out for the 3.4.1 timeframe or is
it now a 3.5 issue?

Thanks.
