[vchkpw] weird behavior

2003-07-10 Thread Jason

Hello
All,

A couple of weeks ago,
I've installed vpopmail 5.3.20.  Everything was working fine.  Just
today, I added a domain and to my surprise, a directory "0" was created and the
directory of the domain I added was placed on that directory.  To be sure,
I added another directory and same thing happened, the directory of the domain
was created on the /usr/local/vpopmail/domains/0 directory.   I
haven't done anything on this system after installation and have a added a
couple of domains before and the directories were created at the
/usr/local/vpopmail/domains.  It's just now that it behaved like
this?  Has anybody experienced this before?  Any idea on how I can
solve this?

TIA

2003-07-10 Thread Bård Tommy Nilsen

i have setup the roaming users function, but when i try to send mail to

hi,Jens:
    thanks a lot!  situation get better, but still has
problems.
    i used your qmailUser.schema;  but make no
modification for my core.schema, because the modification you provide make the
attributetype error when start slapd. and because i have had the
dc=koal,dc=com entry, so my dn.ldif is :

  dn:ou=people,dc=,dc=cn  objectclass:
organizationalUnit  ou:people
ldapadd succeed.  and now i add/delete  domain or users is indeed
successful in command line. :-)  but i still have 2 problems:

1. add user through qmailadmin ,it always report:  Email Account [EMAIL PROTECTED] (test1) could not be added, but
this user actually has been added ,and its entry in ldap has also been
added.

2. i test the send/receive email through OE client and " telnet
email-servers'ip 110" , the authentication always error:

Error: No such objectmatched DN: "ou=people,dc=koal,dc=com"-ERR
authorization  failed

i ensure the password is correct for that user.

Are you using a version with logindomainlist feature (developed by Jesse

>   dn:ou=people,dc=,dc=cn
>   objectclass: organizationalUnit
>   ou:people

Ok, look here:
Each entry you add is now a subtree vom "ou=people,dc=,dc=cn"
So your domains will be stored:

"ou=test1.com,ou=people,dc=,dc=cn"
"ou=bla.com,ou=people,dc=,dc=cn"

etc.

Your users will have entries like:

"uid=user1,ou=test1.com,ou=people,dc=,dc=cn"
"uid=user567,ou=test1.com,ou=people,dc=,dc=cn"

etc.

Your basedn is
"ou=people,dc=,dc=cn"

So you might use vckpw to auth your users!
See the problem you have ?

> Error: No such object
> matched DN: "ou=people,dc=koal,dc=com"
> -ERR authorization  failed

This is a querry to user: "ou=people,dc=koal,dc=com"
But as you now know this your Basedn and not a valid user.

Everytime you recompile vpopmail, you have to recompile qmailadmin, because it
is limked against libvpopmail.a

So try your commandline tools:
- vaddomain
- vadduser
- vmoduser
- vdeluser

If they work, then try to recompile qmailadmin.
You should have a base user call postmaster, which has been setup on adding the
domain.

Get a ldapbrowser like "gq", connect to your ldapserver and you should see
something like

 dc=koal,dc=com
  |
   ->ou=people
  |
   -> ou=test1.com
   |
->uid=postmaster
->uid=user1
->uid=user156

BTW: I wonder that modifiying you core.schema results in an error, because I
just changed a "must"-flag to a "may"-flag.

Best regards
Jens

[vchkpw] vpopmail latest version

Someone recomanded
me to update to vpopmail-5.3.38
in order to stop getting an "Invalid User Id Or

The latest version that I could find was 5.3.20
(which is
the one I am using right now).

Please tell me if there really is a later version

and where could I download it from.

Thanks!

If you're running authdaemond to cache authentication
information, that is probably your problem. Disable
that at configure-time (--without-authdaemond) and try
to use it again.

[vchkpw] vadduser segfaulting when executed from script

2003-07-10 Thread Keith Bussey
Hi all,

My situation is the following:

FreeBSD 4.5-RELEASE
Vpopmail 5.3.12
PHP 4.2.1

Whenever I try to vadduser from my php script using

`/u4/vpopmail/bin/vadduser [EMAIL PROTECTED] pass`;

I get the following error:

"Segmentation fault - core dumped"

I am running the script as root.

If I just type the same command not from in a script, it works fine.

Any ideas ? Thanks

Are you sure you're tcpserver is using the same tcp.smtp.cdb file that vpopmail is

2003-07-10 Thread Valentin Ionescu
>From what I have been reading I understood that I have to

This is how I've configured vpopmail:

./configure --enable-roaming-users=y \
--enable-clear-passwd=y \
--enable-valias=y \
--enable-default-domain=hostname.myprymarydomain.com \
--enable-logging=y

And this is how i've configured sqwebmail"

./configure --without-authpwd \
--without-authshadow \
--without-authpam \
--without-authuserdb \
--without-authmysql \
--without-authldap \

--disable-changepass \
--without-gzip \
--enable-cgibindir=/var/www/cgi-bin \
--enable-imagedir=/var/www/icons \
--without-ispell \
--disable-autorenamesent

So I didn't used any --without-authdaemond option for
vpopmail at compile time. Would it be OK to do that if
I want to allow access to mail trough sqwebmail interface.

Check to make sure /var/qmail/users/assign is correct
and that there is a single dot at the end of the file, etc.
Also check to make sure the vpasswd files in the domain
you're trying to add to are not corrupted. That is where
I'd start.

Hi all,

My situation is the following:

FreeBSD 4.5-RELEASE
Vpopmail 5.3.12
PHP 4.2.1
Whenever I try to vadduser from my php script using

`/u4/vpopmail/bin/vadduser [EMAIL PROTECTED] pass`;

I get the following error:

"Segmentation fault - core dumped"

I am running the script as root.

If I just type the same command not from in a script, it works fine.

Any ideas ? Thanks

Re: [vchkpw] vpopmail latest version

2003-07-10 Thread vol
Wherever you read that is incorrect, at least for accessing
sqwebmail via the vpopmail authentication module. This may
or may not be true for other modules, but as far as I know,
the authdaemond is an optional feature, and not a
requirement (though I could definately be wrong).
Valentin Ionescu wrote:
From what I have been reading I understood that I have to
use authdaemond in order to allow access to mail using sqwebmail

This is how I've configured vpopmail:

./configure --enable-roaming-users=y \
--enable-clear-passwd=y \
--enable-valias=y \
--enable-default-domain=hostname.myprymarydomain.com \
--enable-logging=y
And this is how i've configured sqwebmail"

./configure --without-authpwd \
--without-authshadow \
--without-authpam \
--without-authuserdb \
--without-authmysql \
--without-authldap \
--enable-softtimeout=1800 \
--disable-changepass \
--without-gzip \
--enable-cgibindir=/var/www/cgi-bin \
--enable-imagedir=/var/www/icons \
--without-ispell \
--disable-autorenamesent
So I didn't used any --without-authdaemond option for
vpopmail at compile time. Would it be OK to do that if
I want to allow access to mail trough sqwebmail interface.

If you're running authdaemond to cache authentication
information, that is probably your problem. Disable
that at configure-time (--without-authdaemond) and try
to use it again.

Someone recomanded me to update to vpopmail-5.3.38

The latest version that I could find was 5.3.20 (which is
the one I am using right now).
Please tell me if there really is a later version then 5.3.20
and where could I download it from.
Thanks!

Re: [vchkpw] vpopmail latest version

authdaemond simply caches authentication information so that
you arent required to call the authentication module as
frequently (which in theory, would be more efficient).
However, Ive never seen this to be required. If authdaemon
is disabled, it simply talks to the authentication module.

Can somebody spell this out for me a bit more please?

Is that --without-authdaemond in sqwebmail? In which case how does it verify
the user... or am I being stupid and missing something completely??

Thanks

Hi Ahmad, thanks for your reply, but what if I want
to define different port number or sock file?

It is not working if I define like

#define MYSQL_UPDATE_SERVER
"localhost:"
#define MYSQL_READ_SERVER
"localhost:"

OR

#define MYSQL_UPDATE_SERVER
"/usr/local/mysq/mysql.sock"
#define MYSQL_READ_SERVER
"/usr/local/mysql/mysql.sock"

Any idea how ?

thanks
