[videoblogging] Print, online journalist wants to connect w/vlogger
Hi all - it's been a while since I've posted to this list. I'm interested in connecting with a Bay Area vlogger to produce some pieces. For those of you who don't know me, I'm an independent journalist in S.F. who writes for national publications. I met a bunch of you last year at MacWorld and at SXSW. I want to focus on the reporting and content and team up with a talented vlogger interested in those things of course, but fluent in the more technical aspects that aren't my arena. Please respond to me off-list at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thanks and best - Leslie ___ Leslie Guttman office: 510.528.8606 cell: 510.684.6457 fax: 510.576.1747 http://www.leslieguttman.com [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

[videoblogging] Sony DCR-HC20?
Hi - has anyone vlogged past or present with a Sony DCR-HC20? I'm thinking about buying a very gently used one off of Craig's List. Hey Leslie - I use this camera. I have been happy with it: good quality recording, decent sounds, nice size/weight. Good sized color LCD and direct DV outs too. One word of caution, check the drive door for loading and unloading, they can get finicky sometimes and seem to be on the fragile side. Good luck! - Ted On 2/10/06, Leslie Guttman [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi - has anyone vlogged past or present with a Sony DCR-HC20? [videoblogging] Subject: Re: Re: Rocketboom to Auction Advertising Time on Ebay?
I disagree. I think that if some vlogging goes into the television-like way it's going - for those who want to do it that way - they need the ads to support the production costs of the show, including reporting, etc. One parallel universe that comes to mind for me is This American Life - they do any ads at the end, and I love how they tweak them, like the ad for Volkswagen is that the car is just a shell for the radio, or something like that. Not that I am an A-List vlogger by any means, I wouldnt do this no matter what the reason was. I do have Google Ads on my site and that's plenty. To insert ads into the videos? In my opinion, that's just obnoxious to the viewer. As we are inundated with advertising on TV all the time, I would rather that online videos be clear of this crap. I hate the fact that big media sites force you to watch commercials before their content. I refuse to watch their videos for that reason alone. If vloggers started doing this, I wouldn't watch their videos either. [videoblogging] RIAA discussion
In regard to the RIAA, I think they actually do go after small fish. My brother was playing guitar in coffeehouses in Lexington, Ky., my hometown, and actually had to stop because the RIAA had come through and either gotten down on the artists or the coffeehouse, I can't remember the specifics, about covering songs. It was sort of insane. ___ Leslie Guttman ph: 510.528.8606 fx: 530.688.4835 http://www.leslieguttman.com Yahoo!
