Try removing and then re-seating the RAM. The SIMMs most likely came
loose during travel.

2005-07-08 Thread soviet
i gonna take a look to that article the problem is that ebay don't ship most
time international.

I send an email to sonnet asking if it could work and i get this response
Thanx for the help
-

Sonnet
Nope. It's only for the 7200 and 8200 models. The 9600 uses an entirely
different type of processor.

300 USD for an 8200 with that little amount of RAM is way too much: you
better look for a G3/G4 processor card for your 9600.

Have a look on ebay: they start from as little as 10 bucks.

The 7200 hasn't got the upgradable processor, so sonnet came out with this
PCI card.

I think it will not work in anything else than the 7200/8200, however,
since the 9600 is plenty of PCI slots it could be an interesting
experiment.

Ben

Someone now if a sonnet 7200 g3 400 mhz pci card can be used on a powermac
9600 ?.
The card goes in one pci slot and have 3 dimm pc100 slots. In sonnet
website only de 7200 is supported.

Re: Quadra 950

2005-05-27 Thread soviet
Thanx for the tip, i looked in the netbsd webpage and also found the same
problem, theres no adb support, the only way could be to install netbsd
using another mac, configuring the serial port for a serial console or
telnet and then installing the drive in the quadra and boot.

But linux have adb support, the debian installer let mi use the keyboard ok.
The problem is the random crashes maybe if debian have alternative kernels
to boot the installation, is a pain in the ass that they don't have any.

The Quadra 950 is included under the following:

"The following Macintosh models are supported and tested. This means that
at least the SCSI controller, serial console and on-board ethernet will
function on these models."

Supported devices

However it then goes on to say that the supported hardware does includes:

"ADB keyboards and mice (adb) (except on the IIfx, Quadra 900 and 950)."

So I don't know how you could use the system without a keyboard and mouse
:-(

Re: new to the list

2004-10-19 Thread Soviet
If your mac have a ethernet network card, it's easy as configuring the
tcp/ip control panel with a ip and the ip of the router, also the dns. If
you don't have a network card on your mac (but still it have pci slots) you
could take any realtek 8139 card, download the driver for macos 8.1 - 9.1
from realtek website and then you are ready to surf the web.

You can easily hook it up to the internet as well, and fire up all the
vintage internet software you can find! I was surprised to find out that
reading newsgroups and emailing went just as well on my IIci as on my 600
Mhz iMac. Telnet and FTP work very well too. Websurfing is a bit awkward
because modern websites won't work with old versions of Netscape.

Can the PC's do Apple Talk? I'm afraid your Mac is too slow to be a
fileserver.

Macintosh IIcx dosen't turn on

2004-06-16 Thread soviet
Hi this is mi first post i will try to explain this.
I have expirience with classic macs i have a q950 a classic a se and also a
power mac 6500.
The problem is that i have also a macintosh IIcx with a cpu expancion card
and a video card.
It's works perfect i have it in use from almost 4 months. Then a day i
turned it off i dosen't have used it for a couple of months, then i try to
turn it on but nofing the power supply don't start, the cable gets power (i
tried it in other machine) i try also to turn it on the machine with the
emergency power button but i have no luck :( .

This could be the power supply ? i can replace it whit an atx/at one ? is a
comon problem, also someone have the pinout for the power supply connector
and/or the "apple service manual" it seems that apple get rid of them again
in their ftp.

thanx.
