RE: Where is the setting so app updates Will download an update on their own

2020-12-20 Thread Simon A Fogarty
And why is that an issue?

If you were to just stay with the same OS and apps all the time without
updating
You'd go no where quickly,
Infact it wouldn't take long for your apps to stop working on the older os
version you run.

Without the trialing of new apps or new os you'll go backwards quickly.

No adventure
To me equals a very shelterd and boring life.

Ipad mini latest gen case

2020-12-20 Thread Vicki W.
Hi,

Does anyone have the SEYMAC stock Case for iPad Mini 4/5, Full-Body Shock-Proof
Case with 360 Degrees Rotating Stand Pencil Holder Screen Protector Hand Strap
for iPad Mini for the IPad Mini latest gen? I assume that to place the IPad in
the case, you just loosen the corner, but it's very difficult and I don't want
to break something.

Does anyone know how to separate the front from the back on this particular
model, the front having the built-in screen protector?

Thanks.

Vicki

Re: Iphone and voice control

2020-12-20 Thread doug parisian
Not sure I agree that voice recognition can be made to work perfectly
with VoiceOver without headphones.  I think that, in order to be certain
of no conflicts between voice control and VoiceOver, Voice Control will
need to recognize and filter out any spoken information given by
voiceover regardless of which voice the user selects.  I love using
voice control when wearing some type of head set.

RE: Adding to VoiceDreamReader From Bookshare?

2020-12-20 Thread Richard Turner
If you changed it for Bookshare, you only need to change it in Voice Dream
Reader.
Open Voice Dream Reader.
At the bottom right, open Settings.
Select Content Sources.
ON Bookshare, double tap on settings, and update your account information with
the new password.
That should solve it.

I get an error message from Bookshare when I try to add a title to Voice Dream

What should I tell Bookshare in order to make it realize that I have changed my

I may be wrong, but I think some of the features under Voiceover Recognition
are not available on the iPhone 8.

For those who have newer phones, definitely iPhone 11 which is what I have and
possibly iPhone XR, you can turn image and screen recognition on or off in
Voiceover Settings under Voiceover Recognition. If you turn it on you then get
a list of all your apps where you can turn it on or off and you can, of course,
add it to the rotor.

I use a VoIP phone app called 3CX which is set up to work with my business
telephone system. This app was completely inaccessible on my old iPhone 8 and
also on newer phones with screen recognition turned off. However, with screen
recognition turned on the app becomes almost completely accessible, not
perfect, but I can access recent calls, the keypad, settings and other areas. I
therefore turned on Screen Recognition in Voiceover Settings > Voiceover
Recognition, but then I went through my list of apps and turned it off for all
apps except for 3CX, this way whenever I open 3CX it is on and for other apps I
can turn it as well as image recognition on using the rotor if I want it. It's
a fantastic new feature of iOS 14.

RE: Described immages

2020-12-20 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I think described images is a feature on older phones, but screen recognition
is not and if I remember correctly there is no Voiceover Recognition section on
phones like the iPhone 8, the describe images is somewhere else.

If Describe Images was not a feature supported by your phone then you would not
expect it to be available under the Rotor too?

Do you have Screen Recognition available in your Rotor as well?

Confusing!

I think that Sieghard may be right; I don’t even have voice recognition under
voiceover settings on my iPhone 8 but I did turn image
recognition off under the roter and then do it for each app that I encounter
where I don’t wish to have that information conveyed.

Thanks for everyone’s help on this!

On my old SE 1st generation phone if you go to Settings / Accessibility /

I would suggest based on my experiences that you use iTunes and windows and
make a encrypted backup.
Then when you install when you restore you Will end up with a message at on

I had to have my phone replaced last week due to a fault. I’ve restored from a

want to upgrade to the latest iOS. When I try to do this, I’m told the restore

have to start from scratch again?

I understand exactly what you’re saying. However, some people have commented
here that even though Describe Images is turned off under VoiceOver Recognition
the night sky issue was not resolved until it was turned off in the Rotor.
This may be a bug of course which lead me to question the relation to the
options for enabling and disabling this feature.

For those who have newer phones, definitely iPhone 11 which is what I have
and possibly iPhone XR, you can turn image and screen recognition on or off in
Voiceover Settings under Voiceover Recognition.

It's
a fantastic new feature of iOS 14.

highlight it and flick up and down to turn it on and off for each app.

  Hi,

I have an iPhone 8 and I did add described images to the roter. However,
isn’t there somewhere to turn this off under voiceover? I can’t seem to find
it. Is that feature available in a newer model of the iPhone or am I just
missing something which is highly likely?

  Thanks!

Restoring from backup

2020-12-20 Thread Alex Stone
I had to have my phone replaced last week due to a fault. I’ve restored from a
backup, which as far as I can tell has completed successfully. However now I
want to upgrade to the latest iOS. When I try to do this, I’m told the restore
from backup hasn’t completed. Is there anything I can do about this, or do I
have to start from scratch again?

Adding to VoiceDreamReader From Bookshare?

2020-12-20 Thread Fazil
Hi, list.

I get an error message from Bookshare when I try to add a title to Voice
Dream Reader from within Voice Dream Reader.

One of the reason for this is probably that I had changed my password in
Bookshare.

What should I tell Bookshare in order to make it realize that I have changed
my password and I am a genuine subscriber

Thanks!

Can Voice Control and VoiceOver be used at the same time or does one need to

You can do just about anything because with voice control, left right and
double tap. Turn it on and try it for yourself. I don't know if you can tell
it's a triple tap

Same thing here with the same solution with my wife. Actually, rebooting the
watch did not remedy it. In fact, I actually went through the process of
unpairing and re-pairing my watch which didn't fix it either.

Same happened for me, I turned off Voiceover and my wife was able to tap the OK
button. I assume you could probably power off your watch and then turn it back
on and this would also resolve it.

Hi all,

I had the same problem. It definitely is a bug. You should be able to flick
right to the OK button but you can't. I called Apple care and spent 2 hours on
the phone trying to figure it out and couldn't do it either. After all this, I
found it myself by trial and error.
I reported it to Apple but, if I'm the only one, it won't get fixed. I urge
everyone who has had that problem to call and report it so they can fix it.

If Describe Images was not a feature supported by your phone then you would not
expect it to be available under the Rotor too?

Do you have Screen Recognition available in your Rotor as well?

it and flick up and down to turn it on and off for each app.

Hi,

I have an iPhone 8 and I did add described images to the roter. However, isn’t
there somewhere to turn this off under voiceover? I can’t seem to find it. Is
that feature available in a newer model of the iPhone or am I just missing
something which is highly likely?

Thanks!

Debbie

Hi Debbie,

On my old SE 1st generation phone if you go to Settings / Accessibility /
Voiceover / Rotor and open Rotor, now swipe all the way through, Describe
Images, and Reorder Describe Images, are the last 2 options.

Stay safe and take care. Mike.

I just tested this out and apparently if you turn on Image Description in
Voiceover Recognition this will turn it on for all apps. The Describe
Images option on the rotor controls its function per individual application.
If I'm wrong someone please correct me.

I urge

RE: Described immages

2020-12-20 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

I no longer am receiving iMessages on all my devices

2020-12-20 Thread Jen .
Hi I am suddenly not able to receive iMessages on all my devices since both my
email address and phone number are not selected on these devices now.
I can receive messages for my phone number on my phone and iMessages from my
email on my iPad iPod touch and MacBook Air but wondering how I get it so that
I will receive all messages from both phone number and email address on all
devices and how and where I would put a second address if one is needed since I
only see my phone number on my phone and email on everything else not both.
Thanks for any help.

RE: Can’t get Back to Watch Face After Updating

2020-12-20 Thread Ron Pelletier

I urge
everyone who has had that problem to call and report it so they can fix it.

reset. End it was this easy. Definitely should’ve looked here first. Thanks for
the info. :-) First time I’ve ever had a problem with an update with the watch.
