Re: Follow-up about serious VoiceOver bug in iOS 8.4
Hello,Mark and everyone. With the font text size slider set to 50% and "Reduce Motion" set to "on," I'm still getting skipping. My network is AT&T, and I'm using an iPhone 5 running iOS 8.3. A good example of this is the "report spam" button in the Gmail app. The only way to find this item is by a careful review of the screen. I realize this is not a native app,but I'm wondering if some buttons and functions are programmed differently and are hence not showing up via VoiceOver. Unfortunately, I can't verify the presence of the visual display cursor Mark noted. Craig On 7/3/15, M. Hello Molly, Thank you so much for this feedback. You know, there is a visually displayed VoiceOver cursor that surrounds anything upon which VoiceOver is currently focused. If you have enough vision or have a sighted person available, can you let us know if the VoiceOver visual cursor is also skipping various elements as well? This is to say, is the VoiceOver visual cursor accurately following the speech output? RE: Follow-up about serious VoiceOver bug in iOS 8.4
Hello Craig and All, I have been following this thread and can confidently say that I am not experiencing this particular VoiceOver issue. I have attempted to recreate this problem on two 6 Plus phones running iOS 8.4, to no avail. I would ask all of you experiencing this issue to confirm that you have your display font size set to normal and to turn off zoom mode, if, in fact, you have it turned on. Also, please enable the Reduce Motion feature. Finally, restart the phone, after having cleared/closed all open apps. See if this makes a difference. If you continue to experience this issue after having made the adjustments, described above, I would be interested in learning which wireless provider you use. The two carriers on which I tested this issue are A T & T Wireless and Sprint. Re: Follow-up about serious VoiceOver bug in iOS 8.4
I have also noticed it in other apps, like Facebook, in notifications, when you start swiping through your notifications, it will skip the first one like it is not even there. So it is not a bug with a particular app, but a voice over bug in general. We all just need to make sure that we report it to apple accessibility and hope it is corrected when ios 9 comes out. Again, I did not have this happen in ios 7, but started with ios 8 back in September. Re: Follow-up about serious VoiceOver bug in iOS 8.4
I am not seeing it myself in 8.4, and I don't recall anyone else talking about it before the 8.4 release. I'd strongly suggest reporting it to Apple accessibility though. There may be a 8.4.1 before September, and even if there isn't, you don't want to assume someone else has already reported it and therefore it'll get fixed in IOS 9. It's not that hard to report it, and the more people who do, the more likely it is that it'll be fixed in the next version of IOS. Sorry to be that person, but I haven't been experiencing this, and I've been on iOS 8.3 for a while, and iOS 8.4 for about three days now. Everything seems to be working fine, at least in Mail. As other people said when you previously asked about this, I also have had this problem since ios 8 came out last September. And I have experienced this on both an iphone 5, and an iphone 6. So it is not specifically an ios 8.4 bug. It is more of an ios 8 bug that has not yet been fixed. It's a bug - I can confirm. However there's no use reporting it to Apple as it may be fixed in the final version of iOS 9.
