Magic keyboard.

2021-05-13 Thread Viola Bentson
Hi all. I just got the new magic keyboard for the iPad that I haven't gotten
yet. But I have a question. I know how to get to the top and bottom of the
screen with a braille display l chord and dots 4 5 6 respectively, but how
do I do the same with the keyboard? I haven't been able to figure that out.
Thanks. There are no function keys on this keyboard, the other question is
how to I disable the trackpad?

Viola

Hi no. You need a keyboard that has the feature to switch to multiple devices,
usually three, at the press of a button. Logitech do some, for example.

Which model of Logitech keyboard do you have? As far as I know the K811 is no
larger than Apple’s keyboard, it certainly isn’t larger than Apples old
wireless keyboard and in my opinion it is much better.

Hi no. You need a keyboard that has the feature to switch to multiple devices,
usually three, at the press of a button. Logitech do some, for example.

RE: magic keyboard

2017-11-28 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Does your Logitech keyboard have a numeric pad on the right? As I said, the
Logitech K811 is specifically designed for Apple devices and you simply press
F1, f2 or F3 if you have it paired with different devices. For example, push
and hold F1 to put it in pairing mode and pair with your iPhone. Then push and
hold F2 to put it back in pairing mode and pair with your iPad. If you have an
Apple TV you could push and hold F3 and pair it with that and now that all
devices have been paired, you press F1 and you can use it with your iPhone. If
you want to switch to your iPad you just press F2 etc.

Re: magic keyboard

2021-06-16 Thread Holly

Janet:

Go to page one of your home screen by swiping right with three fingers until
you hear 'page one' of whatever. Then set your rotor to headings, cause
this is the quickest way to get to the battery widget. Swipe down with one
finger to the right until you hear 'battery'. Make sure your keyboard is
on, it should show up on the list of items in the battery heading.

Hope this helps.

Enquiry about Apple Magic Keyboard

2017-04-20 Thread christopher hallsworth
Evening everyone.

I am writing in with an enquiry on the Apple magic keyboard which I am looking
into purchasing as early as next week.

Is it true that when pairing to your iOS device or Apple TV, there is no
pairing code to enter? In other words, it just pairs automatically? This is
what iMore claims anyway after doing a google search for "Magic Keyboard iOS"
without quotes. The manual obtained from the Apple support website only
documents how to use it with a mac, and that sounds cool as well, but my main
goal is to use it with my iOS devices.

Any responses greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Re: Enquiry about Apple Magic Keyboard

Hi
Yes it's true.
You only have to select the keyboard in the settings of the bluethoot
and press capslock. RTR. Ready to run.

I have one.
cheers.

Is it true that when pairing to your iOS device or Apple TV, there is no pairing code to

after doing a google search for "Magic Keyboard iOS" without quotes. The manual
obtained from the Apple support website only documents how to use it with a mac, and that
sounds cool as well, but my main goal is to use it with my iOS devices.

Any responses greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Do a three finger swipe right from the home page. You will hear voice over
announce 'search'. Now set the rotor to headings, or swipe right with one
finger til you get to 'battery'. It is near the bottom of the page.

Hope this helps.

Using French Apple Magic Keyboard for English?

Hi, list.

I saw a French Apple Magic Keyboard on Craig List.

Would I be able to use it for English typing exclusively if I purchase this
French Keyboard? Would the voiceOver keys be second and third from the left

Thanks!

A question regarding Apple's Magic Keyboard with Numpad.

2017-07-31 Thread Danny Keys
Hello List,
I am thinking about purchasing the new magic keyboard with number pad. This
keyboard is bluetooth and also uses a usb connector.
I’m curious if the following is possible.
If I purchase this keyboard and camera adaptor for iPhone, will the keyboard
work with my iPhone 6S Plus both as a wired keyboard and I know it will work
with bluetooth.
I spoke with an apple engineer about this and he said that it might work, but
he wasn’t sure.
Has anyone ever done this?
You might ask why I want to do this. For example, I want to restore my iPhone.
When first starting up after removing all data, the only source is the screen
input. I have another lightning keyboard that I don’t like, but in a pinch it
works. So the need for the lightning adapter is to use this keyboard wired
direct for the first few screens in setting up the phone.
So, again, if anyone has done this, I’d really be interested to know how well
it works or doesn’t work.
BTW I will also be using this magic keyboard on my MBP as well. My extremely
old full sized mac keyboard is kind of dyeing.
Thanks in advance for any info.

Also, there is nothing that I can find in the Control center either.

RE: Reading By Character With Apple Magic Keyboard?

2021-10-28 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
You do it the same way as you would when you use gestures, turn the rotor to
Characters and then instead of swiping use left and right arrow.
On a hardware keyboard you turn the rotor by pressing Up Arrow and Right arrow
together to turn it clockwise and Up Arrow and Left Arrow together to turn it
counter clockwise.

By the way, did you see my email about adding the COVID-19 vaccination pass to
your Apple Wallet and were you able to get it done?

Thanks much, Sieghard.

Yes, I downloaded Pass2u Wallet but I was unable to put my Vaccine Card in it.
Right now I have my BCID and Vaccine passport in File. I tried to share it and
found Pass2U Wallet in the sharesheet but got some sort of error message and
the process could not be finished.

Thanks!

RE: Reading By Character With Apple Magic Keyboard?

2021-10-28 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Fazil, did you not see my other message about simply scanning the QR code on
your card? You do not need this Pass2U Wallet app at all, if you upgraded to
15.1 all you have to do is scan the QR Code on your vaccine card and a prompt
will appear asking if you want to add it to your wallet.
You can either display the card on your computer screen and scan it there or
scan from a print out.
I find it easier to use the Code Scanner feature although you can use just the
regular ccamera app.
The easiest way to access the Code Scanner is to make sure it is added to your
Control Panel, go to Settings ?> Control Panel and check, then bring up the
Control Panel, tap on Code Scanner and scan the QR code on your vaccine card.

Thanks much, Sieghard.

Yes, I have updated to iOS15.1 and I have the soft copy of my card in File App.

Please bear with my ignorance, can I scan the QR Code right from File App? If
yes, how can it be done, please?

When you say Ctrl-Panel, you mean Ctrl-Center?

If you are talking about my Windows desktop, I do not have monitor with it.

Do you want me print a hard copy and take its picture?

If yes, I do not have an easy access to a sighted help where the photo can be
taken correctly.

Please do let me know if I can do something on my own for scanning the QR Code
myself?

Thanks!

Hi Richard,

When I did my wife's vaccine pass I tried it again with the camera app and
while Voiceover kept telling me there was a QR code present I kept expecting it
to take the photo automatically, but after a While I checked the screen more
carefully and realized that I had to tap on "Capture QR Code", once I did all
was fine, but that is one advantage if you use the Code Scanner feature, once
the QR code is seen it is captured automatically and I find this is a bit more
user friendly.

will appear asking if you want to add it to your wallet.

Thanks!

You do it the same way as you would when you use gestures, turn the rotor to
Characters and then instead of swiping use left and right arrow.
On a hardware keyboard you turn the rotor by pressing Up Arrow and Right arrow

By the way, did you see my email about adding the COVID-19 vaccination pass to

You can also go into Settings, Camera, and make sure the item Scan QR Codes is
On.

Then, theoretically, you can simply open the camera app, and point it at a QR
code and it will do what needs to be done based on that QR code.

RE: Using French Apple Magic Keyboard for English?

2020-12-08 Thread Simon A Fogarty
I was under the impression that the number of keys was the same but the actual
key function with the French keyboard is different
But if you have the English keyboard as your default on your mac then I was
under the belief that it worked correctly.

Hello,
You don’t have to do anything. The keyboard will be in English if your iDevice
is in English. It’s only the printing on the keyboard that’s different.

Re: A question regarding Apple's Magic Keyboard with Numpad.

2017-07-31 Thread Daniel Miller
Hi. I’m guessing that will not work, since the only purpose for the lightning
port on the keyboard is to charge it. Yes, when you plug it into a Mac for the
first time, it uses the USB cable to pair it via Bluetooth so you don’t have to
do it manually, but other than that it serves no purpose. I’m not sure if that
would function way you would like it to an iOS.

Compared: Magic Keyboard versus Smart Keyboard Folio, Apple Insider

Compared: Magic Keyboard versus Smart Keyboard Folio
By: Andrew O'Hara
Apple Insider
Thursday, April 23, 2020

Apple now sells two choices for iPad Pro keyboards. AppleInsider compares
the Smart Keyboard Folio to the new Magic Keyboard to see how they stack up
and which one is worth it for the price.

As it stands, iPad Pro users have two official options when it comes to
Apple-branded keyboard cases. Users could use any of Apple's Bluetooth
keyboards, but the Magic Keyboard and the Smart Keyboard Folio are the only
two available just for iPad.

Each of these supports the same models. There is both a Magic Keyboard as
well as a Smart Keyboard Folio for both the 12.9-inch and 11-inch iPad Pros
from 2018 and 2020.

On the surface, it appears the primary differentiator is the inclusion or
lack of a trackpad. But actual differences go far beyond that with a huge
array of functional, design, and cost differences.

Smart Keyboard Folio
Apple's Smart Keyboard has been around for several years now. Debuting with
the original 2015 iPad Pro before being redesigned as the Smart Keyboard
Folio in 2018 with the redesigned iPad Pros. The redesign wasn't
well-received and for the past year and a half users have been exploring
other options.

But the Smart Keyboard Folio isn't without its merits. Between the two, the
Smart Keyboard Folio is far lighter than the Magic Keyboard, lending itself
better to travel when you want to keep your weight down as much as possible.

The Smart Keyboard Folio also has the benefit of being almost entirely
water-resistant. Apple makes these keyboards from a woven fabric that is
stiffened around the keycaps. Because of this, no liquid is capable of
getting into the keyboard itself, and the same goes for dust or other small
debris.

There are two viewing angles on the Smart Keyboard Folio, a more vertical
one for watch media and a more inclined angle for productivity. It connects
via the Smart Connector and has minimal draw on your iPad's battery life.

Magic Keyboard
Apple's Magic Keyboard has much more going for it. It too uses the Smart
Connector but has a full scissor-switch mechanism-based keyboard and a glass
trackpad. This does eat up a bit more battery life, but not by all that
much.

Using a scissor-switch mechanism for the keyboard is a big change. It isn't
water-resistant like the Smart Keyboard Folio, but it is far more responsive
for typing. The fabric keys have a "click" to them but it is very soft and
can even become "stuck" even when they aren't being pressed.

Magic Keyboard is also backlit. It adjusts automatically based on the
ambient lighting in the room but can be manually adjusted from settings.

Overall, the Magic Keyboard is far nicer and more reliable.

Magic Keyboard arrow keys versus Smart Keyboard Folio
One small, but critical detail, is the arrow keys. On the Smart Keyboard
Folio, Apple has a compact design to the arrow keys but are a bit harder to
identify. Apple reverted back to the inverted "T" design with the 16-inch
MacBook Pro and they changed it on the Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro as well.

By choosing the Magic Keyboard, you are also adding a second USB-C port to
your iPad Pro as well. This is great for charging the iPad and leaving the
port on the side of the tablet free for other accessories.

While the Magic Keyboard is heftier, it is due to metal plates within the
keyboard itself. This makes it much more rigid and easier to move about. If
you pick up the Smart Keyboard Folio by just they keyboard, it bends and
warps while the Magic Keyboard stays firm.

Trackpad support on the iPad Pro through the Magic Keyboard
Trackpads are newly supported within iPadOS as part of the 13.4 update. It
makes a huge difference if dealing with editing text, spreadsheets, and even
video work. You can always use an external Bluetooth mouse, but having it
integrated right into the trackpad it is much more convenient.

Should you buy the Smart Keyboard Folio or Magic Keyboard?
The decision between the two is mainly down to if you need the trackpad or
if you want to spend the lofty price Apple asks for the Magic Keyboard. If
you don't want to spend the money, the Smart Keyboard Folio is a great,
durable keyboard that uses the Smart Connector and offers up some
protection.

But if you want the best of the best, you will have to shell out for the
Magic Keyboard. The keys are better, more durable, backlit, and the entire
body is more stable. You are also buying an additional USB-C port to the
iPad Pro and a fully articulated hinge -not to mention the trackpad. But you
will pay

unable to pair my apple magic keyboard with the apple tv 4

2017-01-26 Thread Larry Lumpkin
I have an apple magic keyboard a generation or two back. It is the one with
the little knob you loosen with a key to put two double a batteries in the
barrel at the back. The keyboard is metal instead of the plastics the later
models are made of. I don't have sighted help to get the model right now
but will take it somewhere tomorrow. The keyboard pairs beautifully with my
IPhone 7 but absolutely will not pair with tha apple tv 4. Voiceover never
reads the asked-for pairing code and the process times out saying that the
pairing code was not correct. Any ideas anyone?
