RE: iCloud music questions

2019-11-30 Thread Fanus Buys
Hello Sieghard
I actually hope it is not an automated process because then I can decide what
to download at a particular time. Yes, when I am at home I also prefer to
stream with Sonos. Its just when I visit the kids or somewhere else that I want
some music on my phone.

Yes, if you connect to any WiFi you should be able to download your music, but
please note that this as far as I know if not an automated process. Maybe Anna
can give you better instructions since I haven't downloaded music to my phone
in years. I have fiber internet both at home and at work and I'm in either
place probably 98% of my time and even if I am away somewhere, as long as I am
in Canada I have 6 Gb of data so if I want to listen to music I simply stream
it via my Apple Music subscription, the same applies to Sonos, I have Sonos at
work where we stream all day long for music at my store and at home my wife and
I also stream pretty much anything. My wife does download more music so she has
access to it when she goes to the Philippines, but since I prefer to listen to
an audio book during a long flight I just can't be bothered.

Sieghard

Hello Sieghard and Anna
Thanks for all your efforts to assist to get my pc music library on my new
phone but for some reason I can not get it over, so now for two questions? I
have changed the settings in iTunes on my pc and now it is loading the music to
iCloud. Firstly, is there a storeage limit for music on iCloud? Secondly, if I
go to a place, like my son's work place where they have uncapped data, am I
correct that if I connect to their wifi network that I shall be able to
download my music. I do have enough space on my iPhone 11 for my whole library.

Re: ICloud & Music

2015-11-04 Thread Christina C.
Daniel,

I apologize but I don’t quite understand. I can play a song from my mac that I
burned from a CD on my iPhone. Well, at least I could do that a few weeks ago.
I haven't’ tried it lately. I also have not tried it on my appleTV yet. I’d
appreciate any clarification as I do not understand how this all works. I
didn’t even know my entire music library would end up on my iPhone.

Re: ICloud & Music

2015-11-03 Thread chris
The only way then is to purchase the music from the iTunes Store then it
will become available in iCloud automatically with iTunes in the cloud.
Otherwise you will have to pay for either iTunes Match or Apple Music in
which they both allow you to upload and listen to your collection from
the cloud.

Re: ICloud & Music

She’s got to be paying for it or iTunes Match, otherwise the only music that
will be in the cloud is stuff you’ve purchased from iTunes. It’s either those 2
options or no dice. Sorry.

music I was asked if I wanted to use iCloud and I said, yes. Then when I was on
my Mac setting up apple music in iTunes I was asked the same question and I
opted to use iCloud. I was shocked to find music on my iPhone from CD’s that I
burned to my Mac. I will have to investigate further to see if they are all
included or if some are excluded. When I saw that my burned CD’s ended up on my
iPhone I double checked to make sure that I was not accidentally playing for
iTunes Match. I am not. Maybe I just got lucky and it was some kind of mistake?

The music on your phone, where did you get it from? if it’s apple music than it
should show up on your apple TV if you opt to use iCloud in apple music.

Re: ICloud & Music

2015-11-03 Thread Daniel Miller
Hi Christina,

It’s not a mistake. Apple Music incorporates the matching functionality of
iTunes Match, but with some caveats. If you don’t pay for iTunes Match, and you
download a copy of a song it matched with the apple music catalog, the copy you
download can only be played on that specific device, as opposed to being able
to be copied and played with a 3rd party program.

You don't have to have your music in the cloud for that. As long as you have
the music on your computer and you turn on home sharing you can play the music
that is on your computer via your Apple TV. Of course the computer has to be on

Re: iCloud music library

2015-07-05 Thread Harry Bell
Hi, Mary!
Well, this Apple Music lark is quite a tortuous and mysterious process! You
have to enable iCloud Music Library to start the process going. I have never
had iTunes Match so I had to enable Apple Music too and then Apple servers had
to start from scratch scanning my iTunes library and uploading copies. If you
have had iTunes Match, Apple will already have done this process to your
library, so no need to do more, perhaps. I noticed little completion sounds and
accidentally found an Activity symbol whirling away at the top right of the
itunes window. When I clicked on that symbol, a pop up explained which track it
was currently uploading. You can also go to the itunes menu on your mac, File,
Library and select Update iCloud library if it is not dimmed just to see if any
updating is needed. I have 10762 items (70GB) in iTunes and, although my fairly
new Mac mini has been churning away uploading music for over 24 hours now on a
fast broadband connection, it still has masses of tracks saying Waiting to
upload. There seems to be no way of finding out what percentage of the library
is still waiting but the Activity Pop up does show that it keeps moving on. So
another few days should see it through!
If you have not yet enabled iCloud Music Library, it could be worth waiting a
while to let Apple sort out bugs and let Apple's servers recover from the
onslaught of millions of our itunes libraries all wanting to be uploaded at
once!

I must say that Mary's is the sort of experience I have. I too have got match
subscription but I can't find anything relating to itunes match in the menus,
and my icloud library is enabled although I had not enabled it knowingly. I'm
totally confused. I've been reading constantly on the list and on the internet
about apple music but I still have doubts about my itunes match. I won't be
subscribing to apple music and I have no idea how this is going to affect my
itunes match side of things. So far I have noticed a few albums missing from
my icloud library which I had previously uploaded via itunes match. I've also
since the introduction of apple music bought a few albums via itunes. I see a
post on the list which gives steps to restore previous itunes library but I
hesitate to mess about with it i in case I lose my purchases.

Re: iCloud Music Won't Delete on iPhone

2014-05-11 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi Shawn,

I think that what has happened is that you have Show All turned on. When it's
on, all your iCloud music is listed, even when it's not actually on your phone.
Most of your music probably has Download buttons after each track that you can
use to download the tracks if you wish.

If you don't want to see the music that isn't on your phone, go to Settings,
then Music. Turn Show All off, and you'll only stee the music that is actually
on your phone.

Best,
Anna

get rid of it. Does this mean I have to restore my iPhone to default?

Hi Shawn,

I think that what has happened is that you have Show All turned on. When
it's on, all your iCloud music is listed, even when it's not actually on
your phone. Most of your music probably has Download buttons after each

Re: iCloud Music Won't Delete on iPhone

2014-05-11 Thread Shawn Krasniuk
Hi Robert. Actually, I'm not subscribed to iTunes Match. I think what Sieghard
said is correct and that I had automatic downloading of music turned on.

 Hi Shawn,

I think that what has happened is that you have Show All turned on. When
it's on, all your iCloud music is listed, even when it's not actually on
your phone. Most of your music probably has Download buttons after each
track that you can use to download the tracks if you wish.

If you don't want to see the music that isn't on your phone, go to Settings,
then Music. Turn Show All off, and you'll only stee the music that is
 actually on your phone.

 Best,
 Anna

Re: iCloud Music Won't Delete on iPhone

2014-05-11 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi Shawn,

You could remove all music via Settings/General/Usage and then sync with your
computer to load the playlists, artists, albums or songs you want.

Best,
Anna

Hi Anna. That's the problem. I have turned show all songs off but it appears
what I have in iCloud got downloaded to my phone somehow and I can't get rid
 of it.
