Just an additional note, I'm not a native speaker, so I may have the
connotations wrong, but I believe "vapor" is colloquial for "navio de
vapor" just as in English "steamer" is for "steamship".

I don't think Terceria gets them like Sao Miguel and Faial, Pico and Sao
Jorge. Someone showed me the fault lines and there is one right through
Faial. In fact on the side of Pedro Miguel going into Horta there is a
large gash in the mountain. There is a strange looking empty space where

Now I can see "Biscoitos" too-- yay! :)

Earthquakes are more common than people realize. The App 'Earthquake' shows
earthquakes around the world starting at 2 on the scale. As for the Azores
it is something that is part of life. There are many ruined houses
abandoned after the 1998 earthquake and they did have loss of life and
injured.
Steam. A shipping line. On the passport records there is a column called
Vapor.

Thank you so very much! I never clued into the Camara relationship.

I also thought the disobligation was fulfilled the Lenten Duty, but I don't
know why I think that.

I asked one of my students (an immigrant from Terceira) about earthquakes.
She said she never felt one there! (She came to America a couple of years
ago at the age of 11). I thought maybe they were really small and she
didn't realize that they were earthquakes. Since I've grown up with

Thank you, Eric. This is the only reason I can think of for ordering a
copy of baptism record 22 years after birth. I am guessing that they would
need one to get a passportes and the fact that the word Vapor is noted in
the copy of the baptism record. Now to figure out where they were going???
It looks great. I think you should also include all the names of the tree
you present on a post, so it's much easier to find the posts reffering to
these people, just like you did with the main person of the tree.
Parabéns!

It do not think it has anything to do with a tax; it means to have fulfilled
his Easter duty, i.e. gone to confession and taken communion sometime between
Lent and the end of the Easter tide, as required by Church law.
