Sound should definitely work, you will just be missing some codecs which
we can't supply in the desktop version anyway. So your Linux build is
built exactly the same way as the official Windows build for example.

Yes, don't think of it as TinySC, run it as you would the normal
server. This will eventually become the normal server when
Man I never would have guessed such an obvious change would result in
such an argument. File size doesn't make any more sense than
alphabetical, there is no good way to select a cover if you don't have
the correct filename. Alphabetical is as good as any other option.

Well you may be happy to know I improved the performance of New Music
for SqueezePlay/iPeng/CLI, it's much faster now. Player UI/Web UI use
different code unfortunately so those are the same.

It's not necessary now, there are other optimize commands that are run
as part of the postOptimize phase in SQLiteHelper because they have to
be run on a new connection. These are VACUUM and ANALYZE.

Yeah, libid3tag rolls up v2.2 and v2.3 into corresponding v2.4 frames,
and if there is no match it prepends "Y" for 3-char frames. It's quite

APE tags are scanned first, before any ID3 tags. Then the ID3 tags are
merged in, so ID3 will win out on any duplicates. Looking through my
code I realized I'm a bit inconsistent in what fields allow duplicates
and what fields get overwritten, this may cause some
i can try it out!
7.5 trunk is pretty safe, there are only a few changes so far, so
please do try it! The major work is going on in the branch.

Yes only apps you've installed for that player show up there.
Eventually we'll pre-populate this for everyone based on existing
accounts, i.e. if you have a Pandora account you will get Pandora in My
Apps automatically. What are you seeing that you never added?

Logging won't slow it down. I haven't profiled scanning under MySQL
yet, maybe there are some easy improvements, but at this point as long
as it's not slower or broken that's good enough for 7.4.

I love backseat coders. Anyway, the server does now incorporate some
multi-threaded bits... oh, except on Windows because that platform is a
horrible mess. I do plan on moving artwork resizing into a separate
process soon, mostly as a fix to some memory issues with libgd.

I fixed a bug where the MusicIP check would take 60 seconds to time out
if MIP is not running on localhost. For some reason on Windows the
connect request hangs where on other platforms it fails immediately if
the port is not open.

SC does rescan your library on startup, the idea is to detect changes
that were made while SC was not running. Along with the auto-rescan
stuff, it's not bug-free yet. It is supposed to be a friendly
background task though, and not interfere with the rest of the server
operation.

the left is MRO::Compat, needed to support some DBIx::Class features
under 5.8.

Hmm, OK. Perl 5.8.6 may actually not work right, I need to install that
and test it. You could always update to Leopard, it'll run fine there.
I don't know the status of those plugins, they will likely run fine
though.
What's not working? From that log it looks like everything is fine.
Don't be concerned by some of the things in that log, they aren't really
fatal errors. :)

OK, Brandon managed to sort out the problem today! Our DNS requests
contained a single bit that causes the DNS proxy in the Netgear router
to reject the request as invalid. But QA found another possibly-related
problem which we need to investigate a bit more tomorrow.

We think there is an incompatibility between the Netgear DG834PN and
either our DHCP or DNS clients. This is difficult for us to test
because it requires a DSL line and only appears to be sold in the UK.
If anyone is having this issue with a different router, please let us
know.
