Its funny that you mentioned "parts that fit" because I had a hell of a time Identifying the thing. I started with the stamp in the rear right of the engine, and the stamp was the same for 283's and 327's. I looked for the date and when I found what I thought was the date, it said 1982. Well, I I k

Its amazing how unscored it is. Hard to believe a 41 year old engine could look so good. Thats just a prime example of the old sayin: " They dont make em like they used to".

I am in process of stripping a 71 Malibu down for restoration. I pulled the motor out and after some research and some help from you guys, found out that its a 1962 283. Obviously its not the origional but I dont know why one of the former owners put a 283 in it. Does anyone know if there is anythi
I just finished a complete rebuild on a 69 396 and wanted some input on
what number of AC plug to use on the motor. The heads are 69 castings
w/o the tapered plug seat. They are closed chamber heads. I am also
running HEI ignition. My big question is do I use AC R43XLS (long

John,
You need to get the adjuster spring set. It will have that spring
along with new adjusters and adjuster arms. Just bought one yesterday
and it is in there. They were less than $10 for each wheel.

I still have the OEM hood from my 69 El Camino and need to get rid of it.
I'd hate to just drop it off at the junkyard, but I don't want to store it
because I don't sel used parts and I personally will never use it again.
Anybody who is willing to pick it up on eastern Long Island can have it for

I'm missing the little spring that sits between the back of the LRR (left
rear, rear) brake shoe and the pivoting arm that contacts the self-adjuster.
I bought a complete brake spring overhaul kit, and believe it or not, it
doesn't have these springs. Does anybody have one lying around? I have a pi
