I'm not positive about the newer cars, but the 66's also have an indent in
the upper frame for the end of the coil to sit in. If you don't get both
springs positioned the same, your ride height will be off from side to side.

I did the same work to my 71 earlier this year. I put new front springs
back in and bolted everything up. Then I looked at my old springs and
realized they had flat spots. I have no idea which way I put the new ones
in. More than likely mine are in wrong, but I'm not tearing into that
Also, on my 72 at least, there are 2 holes about 3/8 in in diameter in
the lower control arm. They are about an inch or 1.5 in apart. The lower
end of the spring is suppose to end in between the 2 holes. IE the first
hole is covered the second is not. Hope that makes sense.

Josh, I think tose are weep holes to let water drain out. when I done the
springs on my 72 there was an indentation in the lower control arm that the
end of the bottom of the coil fits into.and the flat side goes up,which I think
was just mentioned on the list. hope it helps. if it does'nt I
